I would like to necro this thread by bringing up the old Builders Club membership and know what people's thoughts on it. Personally, looking back many years ago I truly regret convincing my parents to purchase builders club for me. Also screw membership subscriptions for kid games they can die in hellfire.

I like to think that the current subscription hell we're in right now started with this.

As a kid, I used to love the idea of a lifetime membership, it just seemed so funny to pay for it once and have all the premium benefits, forever!... and I speak that as someone who never got BC ever.

As for my general thoughts, meh, I thought it was alright. I know people joked about "ROBLOX, it's FREE!!!!1!", but honestly, compared to most free-to-play games at the time, you could get away with a lot as a NBC. You could play any games you wanted (The only BC game that was even worth using was Trade Hangout), you still could buy basically any shirt/pants combo, and the Tix hats were pretty high quality. Even if you disliked all the Tix options, you still could convert that into Robux and buy something a bit fancier. Only thing you'd be missing would be using some place dev tools like badges, or buying gamepasses (but the best games at the time usually had cheap gamepasses with Tix options like Stalker, so you weren't missing much).

Sadly nowadays, if you ain't premium, your avatar just looks like crap and your customization options are so limited. The only real way to differentiate yourself over the millions of F2Ps is choosing which PNG goes to your t-shirt.

I would like to necro this thread with a with very late news, but still worth mentioning:

As by September 30th, any ROBLOX games with unknown age ratings will become unplayable for all users. Which basically means that if you have an old game that hasn't been updated in years, then yeah. it's gone.

1761369534815.png

There are actually a surprising amount of classic old games that have been preserved from the purge

1761369925470.png

But you can sometimes find even some active developers who doesn't give a crap about their unrated experiences

1761370336751.png

or even other semi-famous games with inactive devs

1761370497908.png

I would say that if you only care about the mainstream classic™ ROBLOX™ experiences™, then you're probably fine. But if you're one of these people who played a lot of underrated games, or have inactive friends with cool places, or even Place Roulette enj-

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Anyway, how y'all affected by this update? Has there been a favorite game of yours that got purged too? I know a lot of these games were pretty much broken after 10 years of forced updates, but they were still some nice nostalgia trips ya know?

The strange thing is that I don't remember the names of the games that I used to like when I was a kid, sure there was probably one game that I consistently like (survive natural disasters but the one you're enclosed in a cube, not the popular one) but many were easily forgotten as I moved on.

Years ago, I logged into Roblox for a short while to hit a nostalgia drug and the only old games I can find were games I bought VIP shirts on, before gamepasses or buying a badge, you had to buy their shirts either by the creators' inventory or the link they provide in the description. Some games I find still functions, but majority of the other games were either privated, gone or simply won't work, in rare cases some games are reworked and happily still played by newer users.

>tfw your favorite childhood game and an ever growing number of it's creations have been lost to time

I'm kinda glad that Roblox is deleting all the old games because now there's literally no reason to ever play it again.
Fucking niggers.

Someone mentioned on the ROBLOX Community thread before, but there was a cool game I found called ROBLOX Replay. It basically lets you see every game you ever played since you began... that you have at least one badge in it.

Yeah, it honestly kinda sucks that you can't exactly see EVERY game you ever played in total (it made me wonder why didn't my Place Roulette games showed up for example), but it's honestly still a nice memory trip down the lane if you ever wonder what games your dumb-kid-self used to play at the time. Worth the time if you wanna see if "Slenderman Tycoon 2" was your first game you ever visited.

I don't have that many wild games (most of the weird games had no badges unfortunately), but I found a few funny ones.

Reading this made me reminisce on some memories. I started back in 2008 on my original account which has since been lost but I still have my main account which was made in 2009.

I had a lot of good times on roblox. Reading about some of yalls experiences reminded me of just how many ways I figured out to fuck over and troll other people.

My absolute favorite was going on those build your contraption type places in 2010 where you copy and paste bricks to make cars or whatever, make a backpack that makes me float high in the sky where no one could see me, then spam delete tool on everyone else's shit.

On the left 4 zed that always kept getting banned for gore back in 2010 I'd always save a molotov for the escape cutscene and toss it right as it locked them in so all my teammates died and lost.

Survival 303 and it's derivatives were also one of my stomping grounds. If you lit a piece of wood on fire you could zoom out and drag it across the map onto people's homes to burn them down, or you could block people in their house by building a wall across their door. My absolute favorite was grinding up your alchemy skill so you could poison food, then zoom out and deliver free food to other players! Since they didn't know it was poisoned they couldn't even /storetools before they died and they'd lose it all!

Back in the day roblox also had absolutely zero anticheat. You could legitimately use normal cheat engine to give yourself money in tycoons or use speed hack in combat places. I always gave myself a slight speed hack on those swordfighting places, rush in, double click for lunge, wiggle in first person for max damage, back away. Won 99% of the time.

There was another one I remember where everyone spawns on islands and had to be rescued with planes, and whenever I'd play it I'd rush to the aircraft carrier to grab the fighter with the homing missiles and just grief all the players flying C130s trying to rescue people.

The last one I remember was a science fiction place by a guy I think was called like SolarKeith, you could spawn in different space ships and fly around but one cool ship in particular had a self destruct button and escape pods. And you already know I'd sneak aboard that ship, trigger self destruct, then launch both pods every single time.

Not all my memories are trolling though. I remember in one of the old Hogwarts places where you walked around finding spells the developer of the place showed me a secret room by the bathroom I think, and you had to say something like "I want cookie let me in!" and the wall would open to a book that taught you sectumsempra. That was the ace up my sleeve in wizard battles. Fucked em up good.

Another memory I have is "meeting" 1x1x1x1 which for all you nu-Robloxians was an infamous hacker back in the day. I don't remember how or why but I met a guy who told me to join a place and it was one of those default office buildings and when I walked in a dude named 1x1x1x1 said hello and tried to recruit me as a 1337 h4x0r. Looking back on it it was fake as fuck but as a little kid it never felt more real and I logged off and got afraid I was going to be banned.

The last one I'll say since I typed a hell of a lot already is this. I was playing some mafia place when the developer joined with a few of his friends and just started gunning people down with tommy guns. I happened to be wearing a suit at the time so he gave me admin perms and let me join in on the massacre.

Roblox was the shit back in the day. I'd personally place the start of the decline around 2012-2013. It was still playable up until 2015-2016 but as soon as they started allowing custom meshes it was over.

Meshes really ruined things. Back when you only had the basic sword, bazooka, and sniper people used to make guns out of blocks and they could be surprisingly intricate with magazines and bolts moving. Now it's all just a mesh probably ripped from CSGO.

Also fuck the new vehicle system they made where it's just WASD with the speed bar in the middle. The old system with pressing Y to start let you do some insane shit. You could swap to a weapon mid use to pop a fool with an RPG, you could hop out while your car still rolls to block their escape while you gun them down. In planes you could press U or O or whatever it was to do barrel rolls or flip around on a dime. You could also cut the engine to drop like a rock to escape only to turn it on right before you die.

That old vehicle system had a high as fuck skill ceiling for being a kids game. The combat was fucking great too because the damage was physicalized. If your wheel got shot off, you can't turn that way anymore. If your wing got shot off you can't shoot from that cannon anymore. If your hull gets blown off and your character is exposed, I can shoot your character and kill you without having to blow up your whole vehicle.

Nostalgia sperg over.

Rip roblox, pure kino turned consumerist hellscape

That is such a specific memory but I remember it too.
I did exactly the same thing because what kid wouldn't? Big explosion and a free ride.
Unfortunately, the pods just dropped you into the void.
There was actually an entire game dedicated to this concept and most of the spaceships had cool surreal interiors.

Did you ever play ...it was called Heli or Jet World 3 or something.
You could pick a vehicle and fly about. It was just a tool that allowed you to fly with various effects.
All I remember was that it had this weird tutorial segment before you could play and the large body of water in the middle of the main map led to a strange mirrored version of the town you were in.
The goal was unclear. I never figured it out.

I still think back of the time I played oil and gas tycoon, the original titanic game and zombie tower.. just anything zombie really i played a lot of fucking zombie games.
I don't remember what it's called but there was one where you were in a desert military outpost (?) and you could construct like shelters from prefabricated models and i thought that was the coolest shit ever.

I also remember an old war tycoon where one of the first things you tried to do was save up for the forcefield because I kept getting killed by other players, i must've finished that tycoon a dozen of times.

Could go on and on about the games i've played but having revisited some they are definitely viewed through nostalgia goggles since that magic is no longer there, probably just a youth thing which makes me understand the current generation of robloxians a little better in their game choices.
Games like fisch or grow a garden are their equivalent to the games I used to play.

I do appreciate how some of the old games stood the test of time and are still popular. Armored patrol and urban patrol are still popular and as fun as they were back in the day. Give me the wheeled APC and some premium rounds and I can clean house.

Restricting unrated places really ruined their legacy. I had a lot of favorites I loved playing that are inaccessible now. RIP to space tycoon and fat princess that I had in my favorites since 2010.

Ancient roblox drama, jaredvaldez then later julius cole.

Front page games in 2015.

Not to mention morph magic and classic building clone tools became broken years ago. You simply can't play old games without half of those old scripts and tools. I will never get to build an army and attack again.

"Before Roblox became the central hub for online gaming degeneracy"

It is honestly kinda crazy that I spent hundreds of hours on this game without getting hit on or shown pornography of some kind. Even playing those family roleplay servers was wholesome.
Amazing how much 20 or so years changes things.

just anything zombie really i played a lot of fucking zombie games.

The best zombie game was the Resident Evil map that released the enemies in waves into an open space where everybody had limited bricks to build a base.
