Even if I had the resources to leave myself, where would I go?

Small coastal places tend to be most sane.
Access to free food from the ocean cuts costs.
Find something with a houseboat/ floating home community.
People who live on boats stay out of each others faces and are very quiet. Even in the city.
Find somewhere with all of those that didn't turn into an insane asylum during Covid.

A lot of these prepper types go on and on about buying land in places like Saskatchewan or Alberta
but you're surrounded and if they want to get up in your business, they'll find a way. New road, running power lines.. building communities nearby... They'll use any means to take it from you.
Why bust your ass growing food and being at the mercy of the weather and failing crops when the ocean offers a buffet.

I've been all over this country many many times, the inbred idiots tend to be inland in small towns.

This sounds like a black pill, but I do NOT believe our insane real estate prices are gonna slow down. Their stabilizing now, but to think a massive drop of 10%+ is very unlikely for a few reasons

-Canada is very hedged into the real estate market as 13% of GDP is related to actual estate, and 7% construction a good 20% within our current economy and as mining dries up it's going to be an even higher %
-There is no incentive to decrease prices, this sounds dumb but hear me out. Why would they purposely want to lower a frankly easy want of printing money? That's like saying to somebody "Let's decrease the GPD per capita from 50k to 40k"
-It's a catch 22 for the "middle class" most people in Canada the asset that is the highest/most amount of money they'll ever put into is their own home. A household income of $80k almost half to that will go towards paying off the house hoping it goes up, or keeps its price at the very least.
-The low-interest rates and the culture behind owning a home as a benchmark life goal is inherent within our society.

Now here are some solutions.
-Better zoning laws, often times they say you can't build too much near X area because of reasons of "Oh this neighborhood will be busy, or even this will decrease value of other areas"
-Maintain low-interest rates for initial home ownerships, decrease the amount needed for down payments and make it relative to income.
-Better public transportation. Having a train/bus system even near suburban homes so it cuts down on commutes would be ideal
-Work from home is a great thing because you don't need to near the "city" or have to commute as much

None of these are ideal, but it's better than just letting the ship sink. Unironically all these points aside I think alot of people would rather just have a crash so we can have a home. And I don't blame them one bit.

There is only one solution to the real estate problem. No more changs or wogs.

@John southern writes, "Buckle up, buckaroo's. It's starting to get real."

John, you're starting to sound like one of those Qanon nutters. In following your -increasingly painful- posts of late, it is clear that you've began taking a sharp turn away from what we call "objective reality'".

I say this with caring in my heart. Have you seen a physician about your mental health recently? Could you? Please?

JJYS tends to attract LOL cows, and also turn people teetering on the edge, such as yourself, into Lolcows. I implore you, don't get sucked into the vortex.

Wait, you thought this was going to end?

Canada has ordered more than 400 million COVID-19 vaccine shots (Population: 38 million)

2021: I got my 2 shots. Can I take my mask off and stop social distancing?...... NO!.. You need 3 shots!
2022: I got my 3 shots. Can I take my mask off and stop social distancing?...... NO!.. You need 4 shots!
2023: I got my 4 shots. Can I take my mask off and stop social distancing?...... NO!.. You need 5 shots!
2024: I got my 5 shots. Can I take my mask off and stop social distancing?...... NO!.. You need 6 shots!

And on and on and on and on, it goes, and the people who have the most shots will treat the ones with less like lepers.

@John southern Well, my addle minded simpleton, you're going to blow your mind when you realize that you need Tetanus boosters every 10 years and updated influenza shots seasonally.

But, as I said, you've decided to take a divorce from objective reality. Instead you have made yourself the protagonist in a Tom Clancy novel of your own mind. We really do need to make a subforum just for you.

Yeah nobody ever polices you for them though, not like the covid shot. In fact we have never treated any other vaccine like this, even for worse sicknesses. People are getting vaccinated in Canada, so I don't think it's "irrational" or "losing touch with reality" being a bit apprehensive about draconian measures like these for an illness that affects the least the age group that isn't vaccinating "fast enough".

Get the jab and get your life back again, they said!....LOL!

Am I a Hero or a Super Spreader?

I'm seeing tons of reports that they suspect that vaccinated people may spread Delta more then the unvaccinated and others saying the vaccines may also lead to an explosion of variants.

A lot of news reports of freakouts in businesses are now Vaccinated people being denied entry to businesses without a mask..... Oh too see the smug wiped off their faces.

Newsflash Branch Covidians. Viruses like Covid that are carried by animals CANNOT be wiped out.
We wiped out Polio because it was NOT carried by animals..
There's no such thing as "Zero Covid". it's a fantasy, a pipe dream.

Just like the Flu, which vaccines for that are only a PREDICTION on which varient will strike the hardest.... We'll have to learn to live with it and protect the vulnerable.
Funny thing about Covid. It exposed the conditions in care homes... that's why the people responsible for letting our seniors rot are so keen to blame Covid for everything.

Oh and good luck, In a few years you might find out that vaccine you took might lead to future health problems... Taking something whipped up in 6 months, instead of the usual 10-15 years it takes for vaccines might bite you in the ass.
NONE of the vaccines are FDA approved. They are released under "Emergency use authorization" and the companies that make them, are not liable for any harm.

I'll take my chances with a 99.997% recovery rate and likely a few sniffles over playing Russian Roulette.

Reddit thread: The BC government needs to reinstate the mandatory indoor mask mandate

Hell ya, if I can get citizenship, I'll renounce my Canadian one in the same breath as the one I use for the citizenship oath.

Some morons from Pakistan got into a brawl with a big crowd of Afghans who were having a march in Vancouver against the Taliban and Pakistan.
I should have video of that tomorrow.

The election should be interesting. Paki's and Afghans are huge Liberal supporters. Indians as well.
Trudeau rallies look more like an Immigration department waiting room then anything.

This COVID sperging is a bit much. BC has a fabulous vaccination rate. Our elderly are vaccinated at 95%+, which I didn't even know was possible. Our overall is that over 80% of eligible people have begun the series, and we're still at the point that it's fairly inconvenient. We may not need boosters, given that our shots were given much further apart than the Americans did. And if we do need boosters, so what? It was a total nothingburger of an experience, being vaccinated. British Columbians are getting the COVID vaccine because we want it; Bonnie Henry doesn't need to make us.

The mask mandate ended July 1st and so far she's held the line on not reintroducing it. It's fairly well known that Dr. Henry doesn't think masks are a very effective intervention.

BC has been saner than similar US states on the COVID front. Schools have stayed open. Kids never masked under 12. If they're talking about vaccine mandates for people who work in long term care homes, well, good.

I get it but who's to say that the state won't try some silly shit again? Trust in government is low, the institutions are failing. This isn't about COVID anymore every policy, every mandate, every order SCREAMS authoritarian(refuse to use the word facist or communist because those states were more competent). Divide and Conquer is the name of the game here

I often find myself thinking it odd that (heavy JY traffic days aside) it is usually the "Oh Canada" sub that gets the most action.

I guess that is because this is the only place you can say what you think about Canada without being immediately banned for life from the internet or??

Province. Our province is run by fluffy-headed socialists, but they've been pretty reasonable throughout COVID. My trust in government was already near zero. But BC has been good on this front. Like I said, schools opened in September and stayed open all year. The mask mandate was never outside and it ended when promised. It's honestly been pretty good. If anything, it's unions and the public who want more rules, and the government pushing back against that.
