I am an outsider looking in, genuine question (that'll probably get buried in the post avalanche) to any US PoSci or law kiwis - are there any decent academic sources that have investigated voting fraud in the past statistically (occurrence, impact, projected numbers) in smaller (or bigger) US elections, either from a PoSci or Law university department/journal? Curious because I couldn't find much on google scholar.

There's a lot of academia on mail in ballots and the demographics that use it (see my previous post for a small sample), but i couldn't find anything on that front.
I assume, given the incredible high penalties/fees/jail time for even a single case, it's somewhat rare but as usual, I am open to any input that has a bit of peer-review at least.
I don't have any sources on hand but voter fraud has been going on forever, as far back as the Boss Tweed era in NYC. It's acknowledged Joseph P Kennedy used his wealth and organized crime connections to buy votes for JFK's presidential run and it's accepted even by leftist scholars. The Daley machine in Chicago is still around. It's done by both parties but the Democrats are particularly blatant about it.

There are now four counties in Wisconsin that have yet to be fully counted. All four are lean R. Of these four counties, three have 3% left to be counted. Brown county continues to sit at 50.35% counted. Once again, Trump only has to get a little more than 7,000 votes to overtake Biden.

There's been some straight up banana republic levels of fuckery in US elections. The sad truth is though, voter fraud is nearly impossible to investigate.
