President Trump on Sunday repeatedly lashed out on Twitter at former President Obama, days after reports that Obama had expressed concern over the Justice Department's decision to drop the case against former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

Trump spent much of his Mother's Day tweeting and retweeting various accounts, with many of the posts aimed at his predecessor. In one tweet he simply wrote "OBAMAGATE!" In another post, in which he retweeted a supporter's declaration that Obama was "the first Ex-President to ever speak against his successor," Trump wrote, "He got caught, OBAMAGATE!"

Earlier on Sunday, Trump retweeted conservative commentator Buck Sexton, who claimed that "the outgoing president"—an apparent reference to Obama—"used his last weeks in office to target incoming officials and sabotage the new administration." Trump in his retweet wrote, "The biggest political crime in American history, by far!" Sexton is a former employee of Hill.TV.

The president also retweeted multiple accounts that posted memes taking aim at Obama, including one account that posted a graphic of Obama over the slogan, "Watergate will look like a parking ticket."

Trump's Obama-related tweets were just some of the many comments he posted on Twitter Sunday, with others lashing out at figures including CNN's Brian Stelter and NBC's Chuck Todd.

His tweetstorm came after his administration's controversial move to drop charges against Flynn, who had been accused of lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russia before Trump took office. The decision, led by Attorney General William Barr, was met with swift condemnation by Trump's critics.

Obama became ensnared in the unfolding drama after a private phone call between the former president and members of his administration were leaked to Yahoo News on Friday.

“The news over the last 24 hours I think has been somewhat downplayed — about the Justice Department dropping charges against Michael Flynn,” Obama reportedly said.

“And the fact that there is no precedent that anybody can find for someone who has been charged with perjury just getting off scot-free. That’s the kind of stuff where you begin to get worried that basic — not just institutional norms — but our basic understanding of rule of law is at risk," he continued. "And when you start moving in those directions, it can accelerate pretty quickly as we’ve seen in other places.”

The White House did not immediately return a request for further comment.

"First ex-President to speak against successor"

Roosevelt / Taft? Idk any others off the top of my head but Roosevelt thought Taft was so shit he came out of retirement to run against him.
Thomas Jefferson, Aaron Burr with John Adams, Alexander Hamilton.

Ulysses Grant and Andrew Johnson.

The next time anyone talks about current year politics being unprecedented, show them this and tell them it happened between two Congressmen on the very floor of the US Senate:

Or Burr shooting Hamilton dead in a duel:

Or Andrew Jackson shooting a man dead in a duel in a state where it was already illegal after getting shot in the chest by the other combatant.

...I think your second image is a depiction of that, actually.

Seriously? With all the shit Obama pulled critizicing Trump is the one crossed line that brings about his downfall?

I don't know what the fuck's going on with this timeline but I'll be damned if it's not entertaining. Fuck Obama but also "Obamagate" is a bad name and this is not the good thing to call him out on. In fact just put into a blackboard every word that's appeared in american politics and throw a dart. I'm fairly sure no matter what comes out Obama fucked it. Economy? Just look at the TPP. Race? Worse than ever. Democracy? More like deep state. Healthcare? Not only is Obamacare not a good substitute for public healthcare it actually makes it objectively harder for middle and low class americans to find proper healthcare and only aids the illegals, homeless and people commiting fiscal fraud. Mofo did NOTHING right. But people turn a blind eye all the time no matter one. Critizicing Trump? No yeah clearly that's the one unforgivable seen we gotta go lynch the guy for it. Really? That's where we draw the line now?

I get the feeling that Obama won't be prosecuted because the optics would be bad and sell into the "racism" claims.

"A black man could be president of the United States and still get railroaded by the justice system."

In general and along with what others have said, even though I dislike Obama and want to see him punished I do not want to start getting into the game of putting Presidents in jail. That box needs to be left closed. Name him, shame him, and put him out of public life like Nixon.

The problem with no consequences, is that you give future politicians the idea that it's okay to do heinous shit and walk away from it. Nixon resigned in disgrace, not do a full 8 years and walk away like he's the man while also setting up one of the biggest anime betrayals of all time. But I do agree with not wanting to see him in prison; I'd prefer him and every conspirator to hang.

Only a President. This shit is all shitty and worthy is eternal shame.

Jail time? Only if I see a US President shaking hands with a rival leader while listening to the hot mic audio of him sayin- huh. You know what. I take it back. Just played myself.

If you want to punish Obama, punish his cronies.

All the filthy liars who have been fighting 5th Column actions against Trump. Everyone who lied to the media and gave different evidence in front of Congress.

Let them hang their old boss themselves. We have transcripts that are now part of the public record.

I'd agree, except he won't be shamed out of the public life. He'll be the hero president in exile, until it's common knowledge the evil republicans framed up the first black president due to racism and penis envy.

Warnings only work if there's action to back it up. When the status quo is to never punish a president in the event they violate the law and role of office with then the fuck is the point of warning?

I sympathize with the stance as I don't want to see a former president behind the slammer in most situations. But if what Obama did is true to this degree then I want wind chimes, not the slammer.

The precedent no longer applies because what Obama has allegedly (I fuckin hate using that word these days) done is unprecedented.

Edit: I word words good.

I get what you're saying, but I'd worry about that crippling a president's ability to act. Anything with even a possibility of illegality would make average or weak presidents completely ineffectual. Maybe not the end of the world, but a bit of a concern that their actions would be ENTIRELY beholden to bureaucrats and lawyers at that point.

Just take Comey, McCabe, Strzok, Page, van Grath, Clapper, and a dozen more, and after their day in court, force them to their knees and shoot them in the back of the head for treason.

Then at least a president willing to do fucketry wouldn't have the insulation of corrupt yes men around him or her when they do it.

BTW. I can't recall the name of the lawyer who lied on the FISA application... The guy who changed the email to say Carter PAge wasn't working with any intelligence agency... but that guy is right up there too.

They might be able to get away with only one fall guy for this, and I think it will be either Comey or Strzok if that's the case, but I think there needs to be SOMEONE go down, or the damage to all sides from this will be too great. I expect by September CNN talking heads will be playing it that they knew all along that Strzok was ebil, and somehow try to paint him as pro-Trump or a failure of the Trump administration.

It would warm my heart to know that scumfuck was caged in some shitty prison where he could look back fondly on the days of smelly Walmart shoppers, in a cell with cum, blood , shit and piss all over the walls.
