Some of my recent acquisitions.

It was hard to find silver 5 Reichsmark coin for a reasonable price so I got a good buy on that one. Among other notable finds include a 1926 2 Drachmai (the coin with the bust of Athena on it) and a Rhodesian (as in, post independence from Britain but pre Zimbabwe) penny. I wasn't able to find one of those in any LCS's bin until today. No edgy coin collection is complete without stuff from Rhodesia.

For the Americans here who still come across change: when was the last time you found a wheat cent? I used to see them every few months, now it's been a year or so. I don't get rolls from the bank to be fair, I just use cash when I can.
Up until recently I had no debit card and payed for every single thing in cash. Wheat cents appeared every month or 2. Only found 1 silver war nickel and 3 silver dimes.

I've probably found more silver dimes than any other US coin that used to be silver in circulation. For some reason those seem to slip through the cracks more than silver quarters, war nickels or even 40% silver halves.

Okay, but have any of those been Mercury dimes? Because then I'd be really jealous of you. I love Mercury dimes.

I've decided to put together a third reich type set. The 1 Reichsmark and 2 Reichspfennig coins aren't super rare, but they're surprisingly hard to find. I still need a 5RM with the normal Reich eagle reverse and I saw one for $20 at a local coin store that's only open on weekdays.
I agree with @Ravier Xavenblood I've never come across Mercurys in change. Just Roosevelts and they're usually 1964 due to the high mintage that year.
Most people will recognize Merc dimes as "old" and assume they're super valuable. I mean, they're not totally wrong given silver's spot price in 2025.

wanted to make a thread for fellow autistic coin collectors to show off their coins. My newest addition is a copper East India Company coin from the shipwreck Admiral Gardner.

As a fellow coin autist, i must profess a love for the American silver dollar. Such a nice design and patina on a few in my collection. The silver dollar got me hunting the US trade coin too, missed out on a rare chance on coin a few years back. Spotted it in a mixed bag that comes up at auctions I look at when they sell a whole bulk mixed lot, usually from a deceased estate collection. Mad I missed that one.

1910 10 Korona Franz Joseph I, Kingdom of Hungary

1967 Half Penny Queen Elizabeth II, United Kingdom

Both are very interesting, evocative coins. I find it curious that some bronze or copper coins don't tarnish.

My latest World Coin Gallery haul. That guy has some pretty interesting stuff. I got the Saarland coin for some pretty obvious reasons, but it’s also kind of a cool piece of post ww2 history. The French occupied that German territory for years after the war.

The 1799 Halfpenny is a nice reminder of King George III and American independence. American coins from that year cost a damn fortune in comparison.

But the real kicker here is this guy:

Yes this is an actual Nork coin. 1/2 Chon, their lowest denomination and made of aluminum. No idea how it made its way to the US but it has a monke on it.

More interesting stuff on the way too.

My iPads camera isn’t the best, sorry. I took it out of the holder but I’ve got a pack of archival quality ones coming soon so it doesn’t matter that much.

I found a lot of old copper in the foreign coin bin this morning. Everything you see except for the old Japanese coin is from today's haul and it cost me $2. That US Phillipines coin is in almost AU condition and barely tarnished.

And then I found this. I know it's not a Yen coin but I can't tell if it's some kind of pachinko token or maybe a souvenir. Anyone have any idea what this might be?

I have a small coin and banknote collection and I want to get my hands on Assadist liras before the Jihadists issue new ones. Does anyone know where to get them?

I tried a currency exchange, but they said they'd have to order them special.

It's a pachinko token.

These are similar:

Any coin with "Lucky" on it is definitely pachinko.

Yeah, I figured as much. There's sometimes interesting vintage tokens in the foreign coins bin like that one. I've also found a really old one "good for 5 cents in trade" with a hole in the middle like an old Asian coin, old bus tokens from my city and a lot of arcade tokens from old businesses that no longer exist in my area.
