Being a part of a "non-binary" gender is often the height of being a Special Snowflake.

If you're living in blissful ignorance and don't know what this means, basically, a "non-binary" gender is a gender that breaks the confines of "feminine and Masculine". What the hell that's supposed to mean is beyond me, but people who identify as "non-binary" are some of the funniest unwittingly funny people on Tumblr.

Here's a few examples of "non-binary" genders on Tumblr

GOOD CHRISTIAN VALUE

It means you've deluded yourself into giving yourself the sweet oppression cred that gays and transexuals get, without having to plug the same sex or mutilate your reproductive organs

It means they believe in rigid gender-role stereotypes, and that divergence therefrom makes you automatically neither.

In other words, sexism more invidious than even Victorian mores.

It's really counterproductive if you ask me.

They're forgetting one gender, reality-gender
A gender based in reality and not influenced by neuroticism, Autism, or Personality Disorders.

I love how 90-95% of all "non-binary" kids are girls who claim they're only "part girl" because they like having short hair or sometimes wear guy's shirts more than women's shirts. Like what the fuck ever happened to just being a tomboy?

the best ones are the people who claim to be "non binary boys" or "non binary girls"
congrats. you are a boy/girl. no need to add "non binary" before it.

Someone's gonna complain about this thread, because this isn't even a fringe thing anymore.

If you think it's the exclusive domain of Tumblr loudmouths, think again. The dubious concept of "non-binary" has garnered more legitimacy than you would guess. There are universities seriously discussing it, countries issuing passports respecting it, and doctors not simply dismissing their claims.

For better or for worse, this is now part of the mainstream transgender lexicon. I personally have a hard time believing it, and I think even more people are going to have trouble taking so-called "binary" trannies seriously.

There's tremendous problems with the idea. One, it only exists because they say it does. Much of it is predicated on the very height of sexist stereotypes, of either gender.

I actually would like to believe genderfluid or agender can be a thing, for some people. But Tumblr has SO MANY fucking gender labels (and SO MANY people that take them seriously and label themselves with them) that I want to roll my eyes every time I see something that isn't male or female in someone's description. Just because you have certain genitals doesn't mean you have to adhere to gender roles. You can bind your chest and dress masculine but still have a vagina and call yourself female instead of "magigirl." I still haven't figured out what that label is supposed to mean.

Nobody takes nonbinary shit seriously anymore because of Tumblr. The concept has been around long before the blogging platform--it's just that autists feel the need to make it so it's fucking ridiculous.
