No One Lives Forever 1 & 2 (AKA NOLF) are two games I've enjoyed. I'm surprised they haven't been mentioned here on the forums yet.

Anyone else a fan?

There are plenty of gameplay videos of these on YouTube but it's best to play the games yourself first, otherwise you will spoil the fun!

Played the first game on ps2 originally, it had a couple of exclusive prequel missions where you played Cait as a burglar robbing from a pub and some other places. Underrated gem, the PC version was the first game I ever pirated years later because I couldn't find the damn thing anywhere legitimately.

Have yet to play the second, I've heard it's not as good.

The graphics are much better, but they each have their own charm to them.

With NOLF2, I found the machine gun maps more rewarding than the ninja ones.

Yeah:

"At this point (as indeed it was over eight years ago, the last time I suggested just downloading it, to no negative response at all) we have to consider No One Lives Forever to be abandonware. No one is willing to take ownership of it, although those that could do so sometimes mindlessly threaten to intervene should anyone else try to rebuild it for sale. Nightdive were scared off a decade ago, and it’s been sitting on GOG’s Dreamlist since that launched earlier this year (with 87,171 people saying they’d pay for it if they could). It’s far too small of a concern for any of the megacorps who might own it to spend the time and money to work out if they do, but it’s far too big of a concern within gaming history to be allowed to just disappear. Thank goodness for the anonymous heroes running NOLF Revival. I thank them for their service."

Pirating old videogames is virtuous. They will either disappear as abandonware like NOLF, or you will be squeezed 20 dollars a month to play your decades old games like what Nintendo does.

i was going to comment that too but i remembered it's not unusual for OP's to suck dicks.
@thirstytux why do you gotta suck cocks like that and not post the nolf revival link?

The "Hope you're happy" quote has been stuck in my head for 2 decades.
Great games. The first one is straight FPS. Second one has more RPG elements but suffers a bit from putting in too much things from the previous game.
the entirety of the game has plenty of gold lines, nolf2 toned down a little bit on it though.
"what kind of half wit comes up with those code phrases anyway?"
the one most memed is the criminology one though, best reason to use stealth in the game rather than just being a gay way to avoid combat like most of the stealth games do, THIEF is another game that rewards you with funny dialogue for being stealthy.

I was excited to find the jewel case for NOLF1 in a container of my old CDs and games, then disappointed when I opened it and it was missing the first CD. I figure it must have been in a drive of a computer that got junked years ago. Oh well, one more reason to be glad it’s abandonware. Another reason is that it isn’t getting the Tomb Raider treatment with a remake and it can stay as a time capsule from the Before Times.

Well, you've only had.. several years to do it if that's the case. No one bothered to make a thread about it until now. I thought about beefing up the OP with additional links and choice videos, but people have fast enough fingers to find all of the decent content themselves and have already contributed some cool shit.

I didn't link to it in my OP because:

1) http link
2) I haven't tested the software at the revival link (vs. archived elsewhere) and I don't want to be responsible if there eventually turns out to be some obscure rootkit or something like it somewhere in the code.
3) While it wasn't the OP, I dropped a link to a story about the link/software.

Thanks to all of you for posting to this thread. It's great to find other fans of these severely underplayed, unappreciated, overlooked games.

What really bummed me out was the lack of PvP in Multiplayer for the second one. Co-Op only, IIRC, seriously? WTF?

Oh, and Contract J.A.C.K. sucks down syndrome cock, which is why I didn't mention it:

"Contract J.A.C.K. is a 2003 first-person shooter video game and the prequel to No One Lives Forever 2: A Spy in H.A.R.M.'s Way." - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contract_J.A.C.K.

Edit: Added a few trailers to OP - 2 for NOLF2 and 1 for NOLF

Can't get NOLF 1 to stop crashing to desktop, tried every troubleshooting method listed including the Youtube tutorials linked, all the community websites listed in the readme file are dead. Where can I find this community exactly? Please do not say Discord.

Edit: I have tried enabling Directplay, I've made Windows security and my antivirus co operate, tired DGVoodoo, compatibility mode with all old Windows versions, reduced to 16 bit colour, disabled some devices that supposedly don't help. Sometimes I will make it to the title screen but Caits textured are all fucked up and it crashes again upon trying to start the first mission. Have also tried using it without the moderniser patch, no difference.

It's reddit, but /r/nolf

There are a few active NOLF websites out there including people still playing/hosting multiplayer servers and such, but I'd have to do some searching in order to find them again. You might find them on /r/nolf, IDK. It's a very low traffic subreddit, so YMMV.

played NOLF1, played a bit of NOLF2 but for some reason i didnt get past level 1, I remember the movement speed feeling a lot slower. Gunplay was alright, the best part was the dialogue and general setting. Only other thing I remember was being lost in some space station.

Is this the chick for space channel 5?
No, wait.
that's cate archer you fuck, she's a credit to her people.

anyways here's the OST playlist
fucking awesome by the by and just nails the era theming, something modern composers SEEM ALLERGIC TO, FUCKING MUSICFAGS.
it's always gayish "background environmental" music nowadays, FUCK.
