In the Flat Earth Community there exists something new that is even more bizarre than the belief that there is a Flat Earth surrounded by a wall of ice. It is the No Forests on Flat Earth Community. Basically they believe that all the mountains we see are actually ancient stumps that either our ancestors chopped down or there was some sort of strange natural event and all of the forests that exist today with old trees are actually baby trees and one day will grow as big as a mountain.

And they have a good sized Youtube community, with videos that sometimes have thousands of watches. There isn't a whole ton of content though as this is a new belief but there does exist content.

If someone wrote a fantasy book based off flat earther "science" and all the shit they believe, I'd read it.
 
I fucking love crazy people, and they just added a bonkers cherry to this tinfoil sundae. Flat Earth and Hollow Earth believers are two of my favorite flavors of lunatic.

So how did this theory even come about? (Sorry if it's in one of the videos, there are a lot and I'm impatient.) In my head it was literally just some jackass going "hurr looks like a big stump" and building from there.

fun fact: The "Columbus set out to prove it was round" thing is a myth -- he wanted to sail west to Asia not knowing the New World was there.

YUP. According to some Hollow Earth believers, that's where Hitler escaped to after he faked his death. He still lives on inside the earth with the Reptile people (or whatever the hell they think lives there, I don't remember, but the whole theory is fascinating/insane)

EDIT: There are some articles about it out there that show grainy-ass pictures of the supposed "entrances" at the poles that take you in. Anyway yeah it's hot nonsense, the end.

My favorite part of it is how incredibly pointless it is as a conspiracy theory. Like at every step of the conversation, you say "But why tho?", and the answer just prompts another "But... why tho?"

9/11 conspiracy theorists, birthers, etc, they have a point they're getting at. In their conspiracy, someone wins and someone loses. As insane as the actual arguments are, there's at least a reason they think those things happened. "The government did 9/11 because even though it crashed the economy, the oil companies still came out ahead from the resulting turmoil" Oh. Okay, probably not, but, still, Oh. At least there's an end game there.

What's the flat earth end game? Astronauts are liars who are in on the conspiracy, nasa is a government agency that only exists to conduct an elaborate ruse, the sun is really a small disc bouncing back and forth on a dome over the planet, and they keep messing up how they think earth looks from space because they can't tell you the truth.

But, you know, why tho?
