So, how's it going with the Catholic Church in Ireland? A Catholic reader sends in this item from Radio Kerry:

The Catholic Bishop of Kerry has apologised for comments made by a priest concerning same sex relationships, contraception and transgender rights.
Bishop Ray Browne issued the apology following comments made by Fr Seán Sheehy at Mass in Listowel over the weekend.
That's Bishop Browne pictured above. Seems like a nice fellow. So what did this monster Father Sheehy say? More:

While speaking to the congregation in Listowel, Fr Seán Sheehy referenced what he described as the lunacy of transgenderism, the sinfulness of sex between two men or two women and what he said were the horrible actions of the HSE for handing out condoms to teenagers, claiming this promotes promiscuity.
Fr Sheehy told Mass-goers that no one talks about sin anymore, but it’s rampant.
Bishop Ray Browne says he’s aware of the deep upset and hurt caused by the content of the homilies delivered over the weekend.
The Bishop of Kerry apologised to all who were offended, adding the views expressed don’t represent the Christian position.
They don't? Things must have changed, then. Here is a link to Father Sheehy saying those turrible, turrible things. This is bog-standard Christianity, but the Bishop of Kerry is ashamed of it:

Something tells me that Father Sheehy is not the fullest expression of the synodality grape. Bless him.

The reader who sent that to me says:

"Why does Father avoid talking about sin in his homilies?"
"Because he is afraid the bishop will throw him under the bus."

The Catholic Bishop of Kerry has apologised for comments made by a priest concerning same sex relationships, contraception and transgender rights.

Bishop Ray Browne issued the apology following comments made by Fr Seán Sheehy at Mass in Listowel over the weekend.

Fr Sheehy is not a serving priest in Listowel parish; he was covering for the parish priest who is on a pilgrimage.

Del O'Sullivan walked out of Mass on Sunday morning; she says more than 20 worshippers did this.

She wants Bishop Browne to ask Fr Sheehy to apologise:

Bishop's statement/apology:

Statement issued on behalf of the diocese of Kerry regarding the offending homilies / https://archive.ph/nwkGK

I am aware of the deep upset and hurt caused by the contents of the homilies in question delivered over the weekend. I apologize to all who were offended. The views expressed do not represent the Christian position. The homily at a regular weekend parish Mass is not appropriate for such issues to be spoken of in such terms. I regret that this has occurred while a parish pilgrimage to the Holy Land is taking place.

The Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is a Gospel of love and ever proclaims the dignity of every human person. It calls on us all to ever have total respect for one another. This fundamental Christian teaching was beautifully proclaimed in the Book of Wisdom at Mass last Sunday, and in the second reading, and the Gospel of the Beatitudes at Mass today, November 1st, the Feast of All Saints.

I quote the three passages:
(Lord) “Yes, you love all that exists, you hold nothing of what you have made in abhorrence, … You spare all things because all things are yours, Lord, lover of life, you whose imperishable spirit is in all.” (Wis 11:22-)

Think of the love that the Father has lavished on us, by letting us be called God’s children; and that is what we are”. (1 Jn3:1)

Blessed are the gentle, they shall have the earth for their heritage. (Mt 5:1-)

Anyone wanting to hear what the man himself had to say here's a link to a podcast of an interview he had on a national news Talk radio show last night.

They don't normally do longer interviews than 5 minutes really on the prime time shows and it feels like the were trying to give him enough rope to hang himself.

Hostile interviewer tried to put words in his mouth a few times but I think that's to be expected "so what you're saying is" being a common tactic etc.

One thing I'll say is that he's wrong that you can't be a Catholic while being an active fag. Even the excommunicated are still Catholic, they just can't reach a state of Grace while being willfully and unrepentantly in sin.
