Every press release for it keeps saying that it will be more powerful than the original and lists the screen resolution as a separate feature.

I mean to me it sounds like they did up the clock speed, but you're right the battery life should have decreased.

I guess we'll find out when they do a teardown.
I don't care about press releases when they're no different from the typical Nintendo fanboys.

Nintendo themselves didn't refer to anything else in their own OS. What we could gander from it is that it's an OLED screen, with the same SoC and even the same RAM modules (It's just that specific), and a new dock. Heck, 7.0" screen is as big as it can get while remaining on the same frame. Have you seen the bezel on the old model? It's friggin' thick.

... I also already ordered the 64gb part.

Also hearing something about how there's only one USB cable instead of 2 on the doc, cant see if there is but if it was paired down just for an internal lan I just wonder why?

NVM it still has the two ports I just could not see it at first lol
Why were people so hyped for this? Is there any reason to buy this if you already own a switch?
I'm seeing anti hype from it's responses which is weird to me that people are disappointed that they don't have to pay 400 bucks to get a new console for like a couple exclusives tops lol
Looks like I'll be able to save the money I would've spent on this. No real enticing improvements over the original, and the original has sold so well that they'll still be developing with its hardware in mind. Perhaps that was why there don't appear to be any significant processing improvements.
To be fair that Ethernet port is a godsend and the cheapest one I found that was compatible for switch was around 20 bucks. I still think its a hiked price to say the least but for new owners I would definitely recommended this over getting the original model (without the exploit) or the lite. probably meant to coincide with the large amount of software releasing this year and the beginning of the next for new adopters.
I wonder if the new model will actually implement USB-C correctly.
Lol thats right arn't the USBs USB 2.0 or some shit

The only thing I can think of is that they're pulling some blast processing bullshit, the chipset on paper sounds no different than what sony and microsoft are doing to produce more xboxes and playstations quicker because those parts are more easily sourced. But those are not being touted as new SKUs.

they dumped a fuckload into R&D, and this is what they have to show?

The only other thing that I can think of is that this is a stopgap revision and we'll get a new bigboy system in a year or two. This wouldn't be the first time this has happened either.

Well in the end, the chips aren't coming from their fab, and I wouldn't exactly say Sony are producing PS5s quicker cause you know, they aren't. They can't switch a newer generation either, since all the games are precompiled for the X2 specifically.

So any major RnD would be for a true new console, not something that has to try to run old games. The install base is perfectly fine doing soyboy face videos on a console no stronger than a tablet from 2015, it's not like true improvement is really wanted right?

It's the same Switch model but with extra internal storage (64GB instead of 32), an ethernet port (you can use an usb-type peripheral for the base model) and an OLED screen (there is no point of that imo if the glass isn't tempered for a more practical outdoor use). Not that it's going to stop the Switch Pro-fags pretending they were right all along and that Nintendo still bother to participate into the hardware dickwaving contest, especially when the gap between the Nintendo hybrid and the "real consoles" was barely perceptible in the first place outside of western AAA games.

If SMTV is good I’m just gonna pick up one of those Switch Lites from my local secondhand store.

Switch Pro turned out to be the model that Nintendo should have made 4 years ago - and probably would have made if they could afford to sell hardware at a loss. The same 720p resolution and 1080p dock? Once again consoomers hyped up new gaming hardware only to get the bare minimum. At least make it $299 and drop the normal Switch to $249.

I can see people who don't have a Switch picking this up, but as someone who already has one, I'm giving this new model a hard pass.
