They was less forgiving when i was on that site years ago back in the days of the WiiU. I told them straight up the hard facts and truths, they should stop taking corporate dick and Nintendo sucked ass. The Nintendo police was out in force and i got banned from that place. But i knew i was right and here we are the comment section have finally been red pilled.

“Gosh darn it, I was going to make my own reverse-engineered Switch Online and/or emulate games in a completely untraceable way, but now I can’t or it’ll violate the Terms of Service™️! Guess I just won’t do it now!”

This shit doesn't really exist to dissuade people who would do it anyway, it's just to give Nintendo more ammo to throw around in court should they actually sue someone over it.

"You can't say it's not illegal for you to do this because we have a paragraph in our EULA saying you're not allowed to do anything with a Nintendo game/system ever unless you agree to never hack it!"

This TOS is insanity. Not just reverse engineering. Technically as the owner of the device, you're not allowed to install custom cooling or 3D print a ventilated back panel. Sure, they can't possibly enforce something like that but you bet it'll be twisted in creative ways to fuck the consumer over.

Oh, better cooling does give the player a competitive edge in certain games, so I can totally see them screwing people with these new rules.

Back in the like 360/ps3 era consoles you could get hardware banned if you went online on consoles and got caught but they never went so far as to actually brick the console itself and make it inoperable which is what it seems kiketendo is suggesting here. Which is fucking batshit, even for them.

Shame that this won't change shit. Nintendo could have a clause in the ToS that requires you to sacrifice your first born child to the nintendo gods and these retards would still buy this shit on mass.

You laugh but they literally reverse engineered the 3DS online system after Nintendo decided to bail on them. NetPass.

With Nintendo slowly being subverted at a corporate level with the same faggotry that Sony and Microsoft fell to -- "No, you can't buy that game, Karen at the Starbucks in LA thinks it's creepy" -- Nintendo deciding to get MORE dickish is not a good thing. Before this, if they detected you had subverted their shit DRM, you'd be banned from online play. Now, they'll de-facto destroy the $450+ hardware you paid for. That's... an escalation I don't think should be allowed.

But how could they enforce it if you never connect to the internet though? I installed custom firmware on my PS3 back in the day and could ran pirated games added through a USB, i just had to turn off wifi on the console. I could play online no problem i just wasnt stupid enough to try and see what happens.

They went after a small operation in Japan installing video-out mods to the 3DS. Wasn't used for anything illegal.

That's pretty much it. Hardware bans are a thing for the Switch, but that's about it and for the most part a nothingburger if it happens to you by accident. Now you have to deal with the threat of bricking too since Nintendo have become more dickish.

Nintendo already threatened to remotely brick modded consoles in 2011 with the 3DS, and never actually did it. I see no reason to get mad about the same empty threat a second time.
They're being greedy jews, but that's already evident from their other Switch 2 marketing.
