Metroid Dread was already Metroid 5 lol. It was very funny seeing all the faggot Nintendo hypetubers being confused that Metroid 5 got announced when "4" never came out, since they didn't understand that Metroid and Metroid Prime are two different things.

Mercury Steam can take all the time they need to do whatever they want, honestly. If Nintendo's half of the team isn't working with MS on a new Metroid, maybe they're finally working on another Wario Land (2D Metroid and WL are historically made by the same team). Prime 4 will be more than enough to scratch the Metroid itch for a while.
Dread was Metroid 4. Metroid, Metroid 2, Super Metroid, Dread.

Ahh shit... I forgot Zero Mission. Was that a full fledged entry and not just a Metroid one remake?

Zero Mission is just the NES Metroid except they added a short section at the end where Samus tries to leave the planet, gets shot down by the Space Pirates and now you have to sneak around as Zero Suit Samus where you only have a stun gun until you reobtain your suit.

Then you get to kill all the Space Pirates you had to sneak around before, fight a new boss fight against Mecha Ridley (not to be confused with Metroid Prime's Meta Ridley) then leave.

Between the Switch lasting a whopping eight years, everyone refusing to let the PS4/XB1 die (reasons notwithstanding), and PC being more relevant than ever, this generation feels like it’s lasted an eternity. A kid in 2017 elementary school could be finishing their first year of college by now.
Well, I like my PS4 and haven't really ever considered getting a PS5. I'd have to unhook my PS4 for it after all. My Xbox One was great except I've had to reinstall the OS a few times, but I don't think even Microsoft takes the Xbox Series that seriously and the Switch has enough games I like for it to be worthwhile.

This is not to say I'm stagnating though, I got one of these (Retroid Pocket 5):

it's pretty amazing, but it's android based. (I also made a Rocknix SD Card for it to play old games).

You can also install Batocera for the Pocket 5, right? I’m wondering if I should get a Flip 2 when it comes out (that I’ll inevitably never play) or keep holding out for that fabled dual-screen system.

Yes, you can, instructions are here: https://retrohandhelds.gg/retroid-pocket-5-mini-batocera-rocknix-install-guide/ which is the same place I got my instructions for creating a Rocknix SD Card for it. Since I'm used to Batocera and Knulli, I find Rocknix to be extremely similar to them so I don't mind using it.

Yes, a dual screen system would be preferable for DS/3DS (though the fact the Retroid Pocket 5 has a large touch screen is very helpful). Gamecube looks really incredible on the Retroid Pocket 5. Switch emulation is hit or miss, but some Switch games work really well on it. So far all the Vita games I've tried have worked too. I was also able to get Sonic Mania from Steam working on it with an APK I downloaded. ( https://github.com/Jetup13/Retroid-Pocket-5-Wiki/wiki/game-ports )

Oh, and Android games work natively on it if you like any Android games.

Is that confirmed? Surprised I never heard anything about it. But thank god. The last thing I needed was to suffer the preorder limited edition clusterfuck that all the other games had.

Wait, what?
The DRM mounts the drive onto the Y: drive then completely disables the use of that drive letter, which is often used for mapped network drives

Requires group policy editor to fix, which adds hurdles for non-pro or corporate versions of Windows.

If they were doing one they would have announced it back when the game was. My assumption is both that X already had one where 1 didn't, and X didn't sell very well so they are probably not putting a ton of money into this release like they did with 1, which was coasting off the success of 2. I hope X does well now that its getting a release to a real userbase so that maybe they will give it the love they gave to 2/3 with amiibos, models, everything.

You know what kids are playing? Roblox, Minecraft, Mario Kart 8, and Five Nights at Freddy's. Just like the grown ups were playing ten fucking years ago when they were kids.

Culture has stagnated so bad I almost wonder if we're going back to the ages of generations coming together because they can all wax nostalgic about the same shit due to nothing ever changing.

It has more to do with the fact that nothing else has come out. Switch 1 should have has MK9 but it coasted on 8 for its entire life
