So Yuzu was run by retards and Ryujinx was run by sellouts. The absolute state of emulation. But believe it or not, there may be a big silver lining to this. Ryujinx ran like buggy shit even on powerful systems, and a big part of that was because the devs outright refused to add async shader compilation, a feature that’s common sense on other modern consoles, because they couldn’t stand the thought of losing 0.001% accuracy. With the real Ryujinx out, it opens the door to more competent devs forking and adding features that people actually want. And since Nintendo had to negotiate instead of just shutting it down, they’re likely going to have a more difficult time taking down forks compared to Yuzu.
While unfortunate, it's really hard to argue that it's for archival purposes when both the hardware and games are still being readily sold. I do have my Wii U and 3DS jailbroken with games loaded on it, and I ha e emulators for older consoles, it I still had the decency to wait until Nintendo stopped selling the consoles and closed the eShop.
Normally I’d agree, but it’s hard to make that argument when emulation is the only way to run some games at a decent framerate. Piracy is far from the only benefit to using a PC.

The issue with that line of thinking is that Yuzu's legacy is still borked as fuck. I'm still waiting for a competent team to continue it

Nintendo continues to be the unholy manifestation of Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot and so on. Sony and Microsoft really can learn a lot from those fucking Japs. But since it is always a coin toss if Nintendo does well with its new console, I hope they fuck up spectacularly. Though realistically looking at it, it's probably whatever after the Switch 2 that fails.
I hope Nintendo's success and endless, righteous litigation continue to piss off faggots like you for decades to come.

Also what is ryujinx? Shit that's a awful name.

The most interesting part is they almost got online working apparently.

The key difference is that Yuzu as a whole was part of a legal takedown, to the extent that the entire GitHub accounts of all major contributors (or at least their repos) were also taken down. The code has been considered radioactive, and Nintendo has been taking forks down using the same reasoning as for the original Yuzu. There were several attempts at making a true successor (Suyu, Sudachi, Torzu) but Nintendo shot them all down. Except Torzu, that guy kinda just gave up after deciding it wasn’t worth the trouble.

Now compare that to 3DS emulation. Citra was caught in the Yuzu crossfire (again, entire accounts were taken down) but Lime3DS and PabloMK7’s fork have both picked up where it left off just fine. Ryujinx looks more similar to that situation, given that only one individual has been compromised as opposed to the entire project and everyone connected to it.

Don't know what kind of retard you are, but alright. I am a faggot because Nintendo continually is treading piss or actively regressing in terms of what they offer paying customers is a good thing ? That company is consistently fumbling the ball be it online play, the quality of their hardware, regressing with software, inconsistent backwards compatibility, creating artificially scarcity for their products and so on. Shutting down emulators is an issue because the two main reasons for it, performance and especially emulation of older consoles and the subsequent lack and disappearance of legacy IP's and games, are two things that Nintendo could address themselves. The customer is getting fucked every time with Nintendo. If you don't value your money, I could see why you have no issue with any of this.

"Leave the billion-dollar corporation alone", can't stand boot licking cocksuckers like you. "Righteous litigation" my ass, wouldn't be surprised if you got bullied through your entire life.

I feel you, man.

I used it mainly to play my purchased cartridges with a MiG Switch Dumper because:
1. My PC is better than a Switch.
2. I found out that Switch cartridges have a short shelf life compared to previous versions of Nintendo cartridges.
3. I have too much stuff hooked up to my TV and Monitor already.

I've been wondering about https://suyu.dev/ but Ryujinx was working well enough that I didn't think I needed to try it.

And since Nintendo had to negotiate instead of just shutting it down,
I'm curious about that. Every other time with fan projects or emulation groups a simple cease and desist was enough for them to quit, followed by actual legal action. Did the main devs of Ryujinx live in a country where such tactics wouldn't work like Russia or China perhaps? Was buying them off the only thing Nintendo could do to get them to stop? But how would a Russian access that money, the country is currently under sanctions. And an Chinese developer could just take the pay day, fork the source code and continue.
Nintendo really don't have a leg to stand on here.

The lead dev apparently lived in Brazil.

So basically Switch emulation is dead now. Ryujinx was the last one, even if the optimization was terrible. So now what? Will it only catch on after the Switch is discontinued?

Too many posts to quote, but I think Nintendo's case against Ryujinx was likely a lot more flimsy and less straightforward that Yuzu. In the old days it was common for emulator developers to not brag about compatibility with actual games and only show it running scene demos & homebrew to avoid any trouble -- I notice Ryujinx despite the cleaner implementation does not do that and instead posts a list of retail titles you can run.

Not going to weep for this, it all came too early and the existence of Switch emulators always seemed like a threat to the legal grey area this kind of software has sit and a threat to very good legacy system emulators.
