We may have confirmation on what this is (or it’s a similar, unrelated project). Bloober Team, known for its horror games, is collaborating with Nintendo on what they call “Project M”.

You, uh… you guys sure you don’t want to pick a different name? Something that won’t confuse people when they google “project m nintendo”?
I think that is exactly the point. Emilio over there is going to send those naughty nintendo modders to the place where all the "Free video games" white vans go to.

Nintendo is going to have a tough time because if I draw Yoshi inflation fetish porn and only post it to my blog, that is covered under fair use as it is transformative, non-commercial, and you'd be hard pressed to argue it has affected the commercial value of their work.
Nintendo will just send the real life Pinkertons to kill you Red Dead Redemption style.

Ace Combat 7 is a grade-A port on Switch. The image quality is slightly down (with the game weighting 14.1GB here instead of the >60GB on PC so textures are compressed) but the overall experience is virtually the same as I remember playing on Steam years ago.

Dying Light Platinum Edition is another remarkable Switch port of a PS4 game, which also comes with some visual compromises but it still looks pretty decent docked (portable mode has the character models being a bit muddier). The framerate doesn't dip when there are dozens of zombies appearing on screen either and they can be seen way ahead thanks to the large distance draw.

As a side note, I bought the game off the Japanese eshop for roughly 8 bucks as it's unfortunately banned in Europe (because of Germany I assume) while american physical boxes are much pricier in comparison. The JP version (published by Spike Chunsoft) does have censorship affecting human enemies that you can't gib and some of the wounds in cutscenes can show a dark green blood stain instead, but the gore is kept intact on zombies however (probably because zombies are no longer human for CERO so it's okay to mutilate them).

I find it to be a decent western AAA game (which came out in 2015 like Witcher 3), the parkour spices things up, zombies are a threat to not underestimate and the weapon system is less frustrating as I remember with BotW/TotK.

shameless double-posting but

Emio is literally how "The Smiling Man" is pronounced in Japanese.
And the M game project by Bloober is self-published, Nintendo doesn't do an elaborate marketing campaign with an unique Japanese webpage for a game they're not publishing ultimately. The two titles are unrelated but people (especially western journalists) somehow take retardera's posts like gospel.

so textures are compressed
Is this even noticeable?

I played this game 3 times through on Xbox and once on a Steam Deck and the footage looks identical to what I remember minus it being 30fps.

Applying JPG compression to a TIFF file shouldn't be considered some black magic.

With texture decompression natively supported on practically every GPU made in the past 10 years (even shitty integrated Intel GPUs), it's just retarded laziness that developers don't just do it by default anyway.

I'm still grumpy about ARK: Survival Evolved somehow taking up 450GB of disk space, while the Fitgirl repack of it is a mere 46GB compressed. That kind of incompetence should be illegal.

And THIS didn't make players "feel uncomfortable", you duplicitous sacks of shit?
I'm praying and overdosing on copium that Furukawa is more or less in the dark on that. If we're really lucky it's fags and coomers ruining Nintendo characters that he intends to crack down on.

Smother me in rainbow stickers.

they should make an official version of Bowsette
They kinda did even before Bowsette, albeit unreleased as an Odyssey concept.

Nintendo has been REALLY hyping up that "Nintendo World Champion NES" game. Every week/month there's a new newspost about it on the switch notification/news section.

How many new troons do you think will be created from this? Is speedrunning even that big of a deal to most people? I thought it was a niche thing.

People just like playing games in short bursts and improving their times. The obsession with associating them with troons is grossly exaggerated.

>but there are troons in speedrunning-
Yes, Current Year online communities where people obsess over being the best at old video games do indeed have troons.

Don’t dismiss this because it references speedrunning, dismiss it for being a worse, more expensive version of NES Remix.

They aren't "cracking down on" anything. They were forced to give an answer on something they do not give a fuck about in a stockholder Q and A session and the only thing they could have possibly said, that people were not allowed to violate their copywrites, was what they said.

They don't actually own Staffy, Tose does, so leaving them untranslated probably saves on hassle. And its not like they translated the other SFC/Fami to SNES/NES releases. Just be happy they're there at all for whoever is dumb enough to still pay for NSO.
That's interesting, never knew that. I feel like I read something about Tose having financial issues recently, maybe licensing these to Nintendo is some quick way to get a small bit of money? Or just a coincidence.

It finally happened bros. The moment that all true gamers have been waiting for has arrived at last. All the fan mail wasn't for nothing. We finally have an official port of Tinkle Pit.

Big flippin' whoop, Tinkle Pit has leaderboards and time attack too.
