Honestly a lot better than I expected considering we’re in the phase before the next console release. Everything from Nintendo looks at least enjoyable even if I think something else besides Donkey Kong Country Returns should’ve gotten the remaster treatment. I mean since we’re on the last year of switch Nintendo should re-release that Ever Oasis or whatever it was called game they released in the last few months of the 3DS. Just something a bit more interesting than a game that’s already gotten a rerelease.

But yea the Zelda game looks cool and it’s what I was hoping they would do, keep the main games with Link and not change it too much and use the spin-offs to be a bit more creative and different. Mario and Luigi looks like a blast and I’m shocked we’re getting a Mario and Luigi this soon after a Paper Mario release. Mario Party actually looks like fun and hopefully it does what the last Super Mario Party game didn’t and have content. Seriously Super Mario Party wasn’t a bad game it was just so barebones it was screaming for free updates and shit.

On to Prime 4, I’ll just say this is 100000% a Switch 2 game and I’m sure will either be the consoles BOTW or will be in the launch window. Come the Switch 2 reveal and they actually show off Prime 4 people are going to forget this is even coming to Switch… I mean hell there’s a chance it might not if it’s a bigger game then we think. I think the most interesting thing though is that this game clearly means that Federation Force is actually a canon piece of content to the Prime games and wasn’t forgotten. Because if I remember correctly the ending to Federation Force was that Sylux sneaking in the Federation and stealing Metroids….. Neat?

Overall a pretty good Direct that did a lot more than what I was expecting for a transitional period between console releases but no Pikmin 4 dlc so 0/10 for me!

I see nothing in that reveal that suggests that this game does not have a standard dungeon structure and the things you replicate with the wand are just a way to change up the item system. What are you basing the open world assumption on on? To me it seems like the world will be gated like it is in a standard Zelda game and progressing will be based on clearing the rifts and learning to create items to get past certain areas.

I've been burned twice before by assuming the games would work like a proper Zelda game, I'm not giving them the benefit of the doubt again. Until it comes out and I know for sure I will A-log them for making more open world slop.

If Switch 2 is backwards compatible, it might be like one of those black Gameboy carts that could run on Gameboy or Gameboy Color, but have more features and color on Gameboy Color.
 
The Switch has been a really interesting ride. I got one early on and didn't care much for its first party library because there was a lot of remakes and Wii U ports and I wasn't a huge fan of a lot of the new first party stuff like Mario Odyssey and Arms. I really liked Mario Wonder and Mario & Luigi and the the new Zelda all look along the lines of stuff I would like to play, so there's more coming out that interests me right as it is being phased out than there was when it was new. I'm much more positive on the Switch now than I was a year ago.

They merged both hardware lines into one, and I've kind of been scratching my head wondering where all the titles that would have been released on the DS or 3DS back in the day went. I feel like we're staring to get those now.

It's obviously a top-down style Zelda they're not gonna make it open world they're even using the same engine as the Link's Awakening remake by the looks of it, calm down.
 
Only thing I'm dissaponted with the direct is that there was no new news about F-Zero 99.

You'd think they would at least give everyone the BS GP 1-2 karts and tracks since there's no legit way to play them other than a fan hack patch for the original SNES rom.
 
I figured it'd be better than a lot of you guys expected. This was even a bit better than I thought it'd be, a solid 7.5/10. New Mario & Zelda, plus DQ 1 & 2 remakes and DKCR HD. Fantasian is nice to see officially confirmed but it wasn't a surprise. Phoenix Wright is neat.

It'd be an 8/10 if they added some new content to DK, but it doesn't seem like they did, unfortunately. Still nice to have the definitive version of the game.

I loved Link's Awakening as a kid, and I really loved the remake, along with the toy-like art style they used despite how polarising it seemed to be.

I think this one looks fun and chill, probably the main thing I'm looking forward to from this direct.

jokes aside, the new Zelda game looks so unique and I'm really excited for it, also hyped for DQ and the new Mario and Luigi. I hope some of the old Alpha Dream staff are manning it.

Lotsa little things Im looking forward to as well, Fantasian and Romancing SaGa 2 remake look great!

I'm glad Prime 4 beat the allegations, but I won't lie I'm finding it hard to be excited for it tbh. I'm sure once more stuff comes out my excitement will build.
