It's more that a good chunk of the Gamecube library is already available on the Switch, so dedicating resources on making an official Gamecube emulator may not be worth it.
-Super Mario Sunshine (limited to 3D All-Stars)
-Pikmin 1 & 2
Sunshine and Pikmin 1&2 are emulated on Switch, so an emulator already exists and Nintendo has used it.

Remember how back in the day everyone was clamoring for the original theatrical releases of Star Wars and releasing them could have made George Lucas a boatload of money, but he refused to do so because he didn't feel they fit his vision as well as the newer versions? I think there's a bit of that kind of thing going on with Nintendo sometimes.

Please check again the list of games I've posted and consider the argument I've said about third-parties.
Assuming Sega ever stops being retarded for instance, it might re-release Skies of Arcadia (for our dear resident fanboy here) and the Sonic Adventure titles on Switch.

That is essentially why their first party stuff rarely goes on sale. It's the Disney principle of high price = quality.
Think it's more about keeping a value to older games (it's not like they got worse over time) as well as avoiding training consumers to wait for deals. With Nintendo releases if you buy day 1 at full price it likely will stay that price for many years to come, but with Sony releases or 3rd parties you're just a sucker.

There are plenty of Japanese titles on the Switch that rarely go on sale as well, this behavior isn't exclusive to Nintendo. This is even more true for the niche stuff.

Any Atelier game that isn't Ryza, the A-Train sim game that I talked about a few pages ago, Nippon Ichi Software (NISA is more willing to put on sale than its parent company), etc.
I recently saw the Prototype-published visual novels being discounted for the first time ever on the eshop after years past their release, and that's just a mere 25% off.

There are dozens of first and second party Gamecube titles that aren't on your list. Besides heavy hitters like Wind Waker, Double Dash and frankly Sunshine because it's not currently available, you have a ton of b-tier titles like Wario World, Four Sword Adventures and Battalion Wars which would never sell enough to warrant full blown ports, but could probably make some decent coin if a rom was just bundled with an emulator, debugged and put in the eshop.

Speculation on my part, but I've always suspected a lot of it has to do with Nintendo's desire to keep tight control over the direction of their IPs even at the cost of selling more games because they feel tighter control over the the IPs leads to better marketability for things like movies, lunch boxes and toys. I think they feel suddenly having a Mario Kart game where there are two racers to a kart in the eshop right when you are marketing toys and a movie where that is not the case makes it harder to market those things. I'm not saying that Double Dash would hurt the sale of the Mario Kart Hotwheels sets, I'm saying I think that's what Nintendo thinks. They just want this unified, consistent marketing push between their games, toys, shirts, bookbags, etc. They don't want two kart bullshit on the market while they're trying to sell Hot Wheels. This was the exact same reason they enacted the Mario Mandate thing years ago.

It's not just Nintendo, those old re-releases with minimal effort don't sell, and are really not worth the effort for companies involved at bargain prices.

Consider for a moment PS1 Classics. Sony did a great job of pumping those out in the PS3 era. And what do we have for it now? None of those games are playable on PS4 or PS5, they don't continue this effort, many of the games re-released for PS1 Classics were never made available by any other means.

echnically they have more than two. All the NSO Karts can be played either locally or online.
That was a typo. I meant two-rider in reference to the two-rider karts in Double Dash not matching their merchandise.

After doing a quick Google, it certainly appears as if Sony is doing a better job of getting PS1/PS2/PSP/PS3 era games onto their premium service than Nintendo is with N64/GameCube/Wii games. Granted, Sony does not have the back catalogue of 8 and 16 -bit games Nintendo does, so obviously Nintendo has more overall titles on offer.

Because they aren't fucking trying to. This has already been explained to you.

Why are you so angry about talking about this? lol
Because you're seven years late to the discussion. There's nothing left to be said about it. They have no interest in selling you a reduced price Mario Kart when there's a current one available for 40+ dollars. If you don't like it, a Wii costs 50 dollars used and will play all of your old Gamecube discs.

Ok, then don't reply to me and just keep sperging about the run button in mario wonder.

Easy: The Switch isn’t powerful enough to flawlessly emulate Gamecube games without a lot of work like with N64 games on Wii, and even though Nintendo could probably pull it off if they tried, why bother when fans will gladly pay $30-$60 for a single port?
A Bootlegged 2 yr old version of Dolphin can run Gamecube games on switch. Nintendo just wants to sell them to you for 40-60 dollars.

And Mario Sunshine on switch was emulated. They already have a functional emulator.

That sounds interesting. Where is the list?

Dilligently working my way through Paper Mario. Just finished the fighting arena. I wish I could skip ahead to the pirate part and Poshley Heights.

The one in the previous page, silly
I was also curious if the Tales of Symphonia Remastered was ever fixed considering it was a huge buggy mess at launch (especially on Switch)

The gist of the 1.3 patch update (released in August 2023) is that:
-the menu background is fixed,
-the shattering screen effects (when entering into a battle) are back,
-the framerate in dungeons and fights was improved to have a constant 30fps at least,
-the overworld BGM is properly playing now.
There were however a bunch of bugs still found after the update, such as the mouth in Kratos' 3D model disappearing depending of the camera position, the flame effects incorrectly drawn (when dropping rocks inside the Tower of Salvation), or the "Sophia bug" where the NPC character gets indefinitely stuck in a cutscene.

There was a final 1.3.1 update (in October 2023) that claims to fix the bugs preventing natural game progress, which probably includes the NPC character Sophia.

Still, I wonder how Bandai Namco screwed this one up while Baten Kaitos seems largely fine on the other hand.
