Most of the IPs are not that worthwhile since its Universal, and many that are are hindered by not having the most iconic characters. I find it odd that they went all in on Universal properties, yet there is no sign of anything from Illumination or DreamWorks. I found this list of IPs from an article, and really, does anyone even care about half the properties that make up the list:
  • Jurassic World
  • The Umbrella Academy
  • Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
  • The Thing
  • Masters of the Universe
  • Hot Fuzz
  • Battlestar Galactica
  • Invincible
  • Shaun of the Dead
  • Nope
  • Back to the Future
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s
  • Xena Warrior Princess
  • Jaws
  • Jurassic Park
  • Voltron
  • Knight Rider
  • Chucky
  • The Mummy
  • Megan
It feels like that last year of LEGO Dimensions where they clearly gave up on it being a kids game, and just flooded it with outdated 80s IPs that the target audience wouldn't care about such as A-Team or, ironically, Knight Rider.
Ain't Nope one of those...uh...Key and Peele(?) movies where the entire plot and point is just RACISM RACISM RACISM? How the fuck do you make one of those a character in a cartoon action game? I can't wait to watch Freddy Fazbear call Nope Man a nigger to power him up for his ultimate attack.

This list of mostly-shit makes me more excited for this game to come out just to see how much of a cringy trainwreck it'll be. This will probably sell entirely on FNAF autism and little else, or retards thinking they'll get to play as their favorite Funko in an Amiibo situation and not realizing that most companies who license the ugly little things aren't letting them use them for the game.

Don't forget Psycho, The Purge, Happy Death Day, Dead Silence, Ted, Magnum PI, Miami Vice, Flash Gordon, Doom, Bruce Almighty, Seabiscuit, Twister, The Office, 30 Rock, Law & Order, etc. as those are also things Universal has

Honestly, I am perplexed on how they made a Universal game in 2024 and decided that Hot Fuzz from 2007 was a bigger get then The Office, Despicable Me/Minions, or even Shrek. Those three feel like the most obvious beyond Jurassic Park and Back to The Future.

Well, Twister, Dragonheart and Backdraft (the latter two I've forgot to mention haha) were also very popular with their theme park rides and such. I might throw in the live-action Flintstones movie from the 90s, but it might be difficult as the IP as a whole is WB owned

I don't think any Dreamworks stuff was in there, they might have sold exclusive game rights to someone else or intentionally not given them out.

No, there was nothing in from either of Universal's animation studios (Illumination or DreamWorks). I find that really bizarre as Minions are basically the most popular non-Jurassic IP Universal owns, and Shrek is obviously another heavy hitter.

Not sure about Illumination, but DreamWorks did make a Kart Racer with GameMill, so maybe they have exclusivity?

As bad as Funkos are I'd take them over Game Mill products any day of the week.

This is a collection of 2D challenges and platformer games in which players traverse through various modes (e.g., speedrun, survival). Several challenges involve reaching specific points, while others prompt players to defeat small enemies or survive brief battles. Some games depict pixelated characters using small swords or arrows to strike at enemies; enemies typically get stunned or disappear in a flash.

So...NES Remix 3?

Those NES Remix games were mostly poop outside of like, two interesting missions where you'd get to play as Link in SMB or something. It's like 1/8th of a good idea.

Didn't realize this was r/NESRemix, my apologies to my fellow dorks who were conned into buying a bunch of romhacks.

LOL, when are these Jap fucks going to learn?! Pirating is often the only way these games will be preserved long after the Switch is dead and gone. But of course. That runs anathema to the current elite credo: "you will own nothing and you will be happy".
I've yet to see an argument for enforcing copyright on materials more than 20-25 years old that doesn't amount to corporate bootlicking. I mean Yuzu, OK, Switch is still not that old, but we can't even have Project Dolphin on steam to play 20 year old games that Nintendo no longer actively sells?

I spent $400 on a Switch Lite and a Nintendo Online subscription and a bunch of games for my kid this past Christmas, but if I want to download and play a Double Dash rom, a game Nintendo has not actively sold since George W Bush was president, I can go fuck myself, I guess.

Electric Square would've been a better option to develop a kart racing game than GameMill. Just saying, Warped Kart Racers (the Animation Domination kart racing game) is still a better racing game, and it's weird because it's only exclusive for Apple Arcade
Nope is actually a very good film, and isn't entirely focused on racism.
I do not like Jordan Peele's tism meltdown about "le white folks bad" in almost every project he's made, but I do like the cinematography work so I'll give him that

That argument will hold a little bit more water once the nintendo Switch is discontinued and Nintendo no longer sells a console compatible with those games.

I’m gonna play devil’s advocate on this. Not the part about shutting down emulators, but preservation is about making sure software is easily accessible long after it’s no longer officially supported. Equating this to piracy of modern games on modern hardware that’s still a company’s primary source of income hurts actual preservation efforts, and the people who cry about the death of software preservation because pirating Mario Wonder is now marginally less easy than it was a few months ago undermine those efforts.

Besides, the real crime is that we may be forced to use Ryujinx to emulate future Switch games. Absolutely horrifying.

Dolphin was emulating Wii games whilst the Wii was being actively sold, but they were smart about it and didn't sell or advertised themselves as playing Wii games before they were released.

I feel Yuzu fucked Switch emulation for quite awhile, which is annoying
