This is the both really awesome and really FUCKING AMAZINGLY HIDEOUS at the same time.

I like how Nintendo promoted this as well, no more sterile attempts at being G_Rated.

One thing about the trailer confused me: what sort of sad loser takes the dog out for a walk only to ignore it and play video games?

These people are apparently going to develop for it.

"Grasshopper"
Guessing that's the Silver Case remake port.

There were rumors that the NX was gonna have a Smash Bros launch title, now that it's the Switch do those rumors still have any credence? I absolutely love the idea of being able to carry this thing around with me and challenge people to money matches on the street.

I'm a Nintendo fan (obviously from the icon) and the Switch is impressing me in ways the Wii U didn't when it was finally revealed. I do have one big concern though and that's with the game cards. Instead of using discs Nintendo is going with something similar to what they did with the DS, although these seem to be more SD card like in design. I actually can imagine it being possible to produce ones with enough data on them (even 500 gig sd cards aren't super expensive to manufcture), but it'd be shitty if Nintendo decided to go down the "buy the game in stores and then wait six hours for it to download all the updates" path.

Gameing handhelds are soooo 2006! People have smart phones now. This is like Wii U 2 but you can take it with you.

I'd still take physical controls because emulators suck on anything less than excessive touchscreens (5.5'' and above), even then physical controls still take precedence.

I.... actually really like that. For better or worse, Nintendo always do their own thing and it's for the best really. There's absolutely no point in having three home consoles on the market where the only major difference is the exclusive games.

I really hope this knocks it out of the park. It looks like a really cool idea but Nintendo can't let the third party support drop out after a couple of months like the Wii U.

Nintendo realized they need to stop using gimmicks and start using gimmicks.

It gets ten points for (it looks like) no motion controls.

Sorry, if I can't actually put it in my pocket like a DS/3DS, I'm not interested in it as a "handheld". I'm not lugging around an extra bag to play games on the bus.

Its not supposed to be a handheld. Its a portable home console, hence the descriptor "hybrid"

I have no idea why I still lool at /v/, its way too depressing. Only they can take a concept as exciting and cool as this one and be completely irrationaly cynical about it.

Theres good gimmicks and bad gimmicks. This is a good one. Also, with focus on 3rd party support they're clearly going for, this console looks promising

When the Wii U first came out I thought the little game pad was a way to take games with you and play rather than the weird little gimmick it really is so it's nice that you can take this one with you places

Neat, hopefully it gets some good games and like, more than 5 like the Wii U has

They have a good foundation to build on. Question being if they'll be able to manage. There's definitely a lot more publishers willing to give it a shot compared to the Wii U so they'd have to fuck up harder for it to get as bad as the Wii U, but still, I'd like more intel on what they're planning to release and whether that may involve them willing to experiment more.

And maybe, just maybe, they can finally start putting Gamecube games on their goddamn eShop. Seriously, it's been how long and Europe still hasn't been able to play Baten Kaitos Origins?
