So I'm playing Fire Emblem Three Houses. Talked a lot about the plot and gameplay on the FE thread, so I'll just say it's good on that front. What I will talk about is how the Switch handles it. Three Houses is clearly beefy for the Switch, especially when going around the cathedral. Nothing game breaking, but it feels like it's getting pushed to all its Xbox 360 era power. Blowing it up on a TV screen only showcases that. Still looks good, but it just feels... dated graphically. Not the 1080p part, I have no illusions about the Switch, but stuff is just a bit pixelated sometimes.

SMT 3 Nocturne HD Remaster by contrast is very fucking crisp. Admittedly it's a ported ps2 game, it's simpler on its face. But it's just interesting seeing the contrast between games on the Switch. The console can be smooth as a regular 1080p console can when it wants to. It just seems certain games and tasks push it more than others.

Also Joycon batteries last a long time, damn.

It's interesting in that all this news news about Sony and MS, the only Nintendo news is "the new Mario is outselling Spiderman 2".
All that crazy work and effort put into the Spiderman sequel and all Nintendo has to do is fart a Mario game out and beat it. Western Triple A is so pathetic nowadays.

Fact is, Nintendo is basically in a holding pattern. They just aren't doing much right now.

We know what their game slate looks like going forward into next year, so no surprises there.

They haven't announced the Switch 2 yet, though its probably coming next year considering the fact that System Development Kits are already in the wild and they are showing off the hardware. They might do what they did with the Switch and release a preview video at the end of the year, and then do a full hardware reveal next year, but till then, its basically crickets.

They aren't making any real business moves such as buying out companies like Sony or Microsoft, so no news on that front.

They haven't made any big screw ups, policy changes, or layoffs, so there's nothing to talk about there either.

Its just radio silence.
There many things Nintendo has been criticized for a lot of things, such as their strict copyright, shitty ad-ons and gimmicks and such, but Nintendo (no matter which region) treats their employees with kindness and respect, and that's why there are people who prefers Nintendo over Sony or Microsoft

EDIT: disregard that i suck cocks

Because they're actually busy making games, which is what Sony and Microsoft doesn't do. You can get the most talented studio on planet Earth and they won't come out with a good game once they step in Microsoft's offices.
The only studios that Sony and Microsoft doesn't completely ruin are MDHR and (for the most part) Insomniac. Because if they fuck those up like they did with all their other acquisitions, then they're done for good. All we have to show when it comes to original games is Cuphead, a handful of indie games (that are also getting worse), and a mountain of trash like Forspoken. The big IP's and franchises got stale over a decade ago. At this rate the market share will be contested only between Nintendo and probably Tencent.

Stupidest claim I've heard in a very long time. Since when have hardcore gamers ever given a shit about the employees' well-beings when considering which company to be a fan of? Let alone Nintendo fans who never mentally age past their childhoods? Even when they do care, it's all faux outrage. Otherwise Blizzard and Epic would be absolutely bankrupt by now.

Besides, almost everything happening with the other companies right now has to do with weird buyout talk, legal troubles, and general upper-crust idiocy. Not employee conditions...

Otherwise Blizzard and Epic would be absolutely bankrupt by now.
Blizzard, Epic, Rockstar, Ubisoft, Bethesda, and basically all the other big names except maybe Valve and id software.
Peter Griffin should have argued that the employee conditions and the lack of corporate cuckoldry makes the games better. That's why Nintendo isn't putting out rushed broken games with half-baked ideas.

I'm not talking about the fanbase (as horribly cringe these manchildren consoomers really are), because yes they're not any better. I was only talking about the company as a whole.

My whole point is that people do prefer Nintendo for how they aren't as politically woke as the big name companies. I'm not saying they're good, because they've also done some shady stuff.

...then why were you bringing up how they treat their employees in the context of the current legal troubles every other gaming company is engaged in? It's completely unrelated.

Can someone explain to me why Golf Story is considered a hidden gem? I'm trying but the writing is absolutely atrocious.
This could generally be due to its gameplay. You can still have a shitty storyline but have a gameplay that's more fun and addicting.

Thinking about the monetization bits on the tournaments and content stuff, I'm getting the feeling Nintendo's doing these in the case that they are actually going to go through with sponsoring 3rd-party tournaments, and also to actually get customers to buy their games with reviews at least, rather than just watching the game.
