Any reason to get the original vs the oled? Being a full grown adult, $50 more for something I'm going to stare at for 100+ hours doesn't seem like a lot.

Another good one is the Utawarerumono series, which is bizarrely absent despite the entire trilogy being on Vita.
I wish all the Aquaplus stuff were here too, between Utawarerumono, the Dungeon Travelers trilogy and White Album. But Aquaplus literally remains the sole japanese third-party publisher hellbent to not port over their games on the Nintendo system, despite it's the most friendly platform for the kind of content they publish (compared to Playstation and Steam).

Also having old Vanillaware stuff like Dragon's Crown, Odin's Sphere and Muramasa Rebirth would be cool too.

Larger screen and an OLED at that if you primarily play portable
Better battery life between managing brightness levels in a more efficient way and if you play games that have lot of dark colors or are in 4:3
An actual kickstand if you plan to play it in tablet mode
Better sound speakers (they have more punch than the V2 model I had)
64GB of internal storage (instead of 32GB in the OG) is a small appreciated bonus
Dedicated ethernet port in the dock (you can use an USB adapter for the OG model though)
The unit itself (outside of joycons) feels more durable and of better quality (I still recommend a tempered glass protection for the screen in any case)

What do you expect from Aquaplus? They basically abandoned PC to focus entirely on Playstation, and only recently started letting other parties port to PC. Hell, outside of Utawarerumono, they drag their heels on just translating at all officially, White Album, ToHeart, and Tears to Tiara never got any attempt from them.

Muv-Luv & Muv-Luv Alternative are recently announced to come out on Switch this Spring 2024. No statement yet if it will be a global release with dual-language support.

Aquaplus published a bunch of Utawarerumono spinoffs on Switch, Gizoku Tantei Nosuri and Dokapon Up! Mugen no Roulette, but without ever releasing the mainline titles in order to build an audience and introduce newcomers to the franchise and characters. And the Dungeon Travelers were banned on Steam, so the current PC ports on a different storefront use the worst kind of DRM imaginable if you're a legitimate buyer in the West (limited number of installations - no refunds) while Japan can rely on DMM-Games. There was a recent interview where the DT director begged people to buy those PC ports in order for a sequel to see the light too.

I sorta refuse to believe that ignoring the Switch for their main titles is anything but intentional, that behavior could be seen just a few years ago with other japanese third-parties such as Nihon Falcom, the Danganronpa lead dev, Compile Heart and another couple of them. They just had no choice but to comply with the japanese game market in the end, but seeing a bunch of old japanese suits kicking and screaming (in interviews) because they have to adapt themselves and can no longer rely on an old status-quo from the 90's never ceases to be both hilarious and sad.

Hopefully, Aquaplus will stop holding such a silly grudge next year. After all, the Switch was given a lot of game titles and franchises that were deemed impossible before.

I ordered Gothic and Gothic II (the old PC games) for Switch.

They're only available on the THQ Nordic store, which is a pain, but the first game has been reviewing well and I've never played them.

Figured other people might want to know these are out for Switch.
Thank you for sharing this information. I love Gothic and knowing this exists has made me realize how great Gothic would be on Switch.

I was looking something up on the Mario Wiki and discovered that it had a dedicated forum called Mario Boards. My standards must have been too high because I was actually expecting people to talk about Mario. I now understand why Nintendo hates their Western audience.

We actually had an thread about their forums.
This thread is insane. Metafaggotry in forums and wikis leads to levels of autism beyond comprehension. The Doom wiki that's just as ancient has never attracted this site's attention because they have no gay ass Discords or forums. Parasocial meta discussion is a gateway to this.

Might have something to do with the average age and mental acuity of the community. For some reason, havjng a few kids or spergs running around usually leads to someone trooning out or starting an epic trolling saga.

The OLED in my experience is very pretty to look at. Feels premium. You also get 64 gigs of internal storage vs 32, which isn't much but it's a increase. It's also just a little bigger. That's always nice. And, the new paint jobs that come out are usually for OLED anymore, so if you want yours to be a little extra special, there u go

It's interesting in that all this news news about Sony and MS, the only Nintendo news is "the new Mario is outselling Spiderman 2".
Nintendo was barely involved in the ABK merger lolsuit saga, which meant nobody was doing legal discovery on Nintendo. Most of what’s come out from Sony and Microsoft is leaks from those discovery searches.

Fact is, Nintendo is basically in a holding pattern. They just aren't doing much right now.

We know what their game slate looks like going forward into next year, so no surprises there.

They haven't announced the Switch 2 yet, though its probably coming next year considering the fact that System Development Kits are already in the wild and they are showing off the hardware. They might do what they did with the Switch and release a preview video at the end of the year, and then do a full hardware reveal next year, but till then, its basically crickets.

They aren't making any real business moves such as buying out companies like Sony or Microsoft, so no news on that front.

They haven't made any big screw ups, policy changes, or layoffs, so there's nothing to talk about there either.

Its just radio silence.
