Did they fix the performance in the Gerudo temple boss room? That boss spawned so many enemies so fast that it was in a permanent sub 20 framerate the whole fight for me. But this was with the leaked copy before any patches.

Both Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild have seen reports of slow down and framerate issues during gameplay. Not sure how you could miss that.
Only real issue that I had with BOTW was with my Switch overheating while I was wondering around Dueling Peaks, and this is was within an few weeks after it came out.

Other than that, it's mainly ran kind of smoothly

I only play games up until early 2010s, unless if new games interest me. 2000s was the last good decade for video games
2007 was one of those years. That was BioShock and AssCreed, I think.

But this was with the leaked copy before any patches.
Am I the only one that thinks the performance issues on the pre-release were intentional? Devs breaking or bugging games to ward off cheaters/hackers/pirates is nothing new.

I would totally hold back a patch before release if it fucked over pirates.

It fucks over people who buy the cart and have no internet, which is more than you probably think. It makes no sense considering they apparently spent a year just polishing the game, and yet the UI is a mess and the performance was shit. Especially coming off of the Metroid Prime remaster that runs at a locked 60fps, which was also completed years ago.

Well, it's getting harder to justify how shit is broken during release after watching it happen for past 5 years. And yet, people will still defend the reasoning behind the Day 1 patch, even when it's fixing something that's as volatile as corrupting your saves

...Sonyponies...
The correct term is Soniggers, you shill.

Other than the graphics/lighting everything about that game was identical to the Wii version, including the coding. It fucking better run good.

Journos not happy that Nintendo doesn't have more women managers in their company

Just 4.2% of managers at Nintendo Company in Japan are women, a number unchanged since the company first reported that gender-based stat in 2021, according to recent company filings.

Driving the news: Nintendo’s annual report, published yesterday, offers further insights into the workforce at the main offices of the game maker in Japan, including a stark gender divide in pay.

Details: Women at Nintendo Co. make, on average, 72% of what men are paid, according to the annual report, the company’s first to include the pay breakdown.
  • Nintendo attributes that to issues of tenure in a place where workers stay at the company for an average of 14.3 years (and where veteran employees are mostly men).
  • “The pay gap between male and female regular employees is mainly due to differences in the length of service and average age,” the company noted: “There is no difference in treatment between men and women in terms of salary or evaluation systems.”
Between the lines: The data covers Nintendo’s Japanese offices, which employed 2,779 workers as of the end of March.
  • The stats about its Japanese workforce were calculated in accordance with a 2015 law intended to promote greater participation of women in the workplace.
Yes, but: While Nintendo did not report a pay breakdown for the full company, including its subsidiaries in North America and Europe, it did recently calculate that 23.5% of its managers worldwide are women.

The big picture: Japan’s gender wage gap is the largest among the G7 nations, followed by the United States’, Reuters reports.
  • In 2021, Nintendo noted it intended to increase the proportion of women in management: “We are recruiting women and creating an environment in which women can build successful careers.”

Based Nintendo.

The other day I came upon a company website where the front page had a tracker telling you how many women they had in managerial and executive positions, with a pledge to raise it to 50% by 2030. No, they didn’t tell you how many women were on the factory lines. Why do you ask?

“The pay gap between male and female regular employees is mainly due to differences in the length of service and average age,” the company noted: “There is no difference in treatment between men and women in terms of salary or evaluation systems.”
.....so there is no issue, then, and they're just getting steamed up over nothing.

Wait wait wait wait wait

Okay, so some video popped up on Youtube talking about the Super Mario RPG remake. And this guy in the video keeps pronouncing Geno with a hard G and like "Geh-No"

What the fuck. Geno is a real name, shortened version of Eugene. It's supposed to be "Gee-No"

...Right?

This is actually somewhat worrying information. Going by this info, the Switch's successor isn't even quite as power as the current gen systems. Those systems are old tech at this point. Even if the Switch's successor is still portable, it shouldn't be hard for Nintendo to produce something that stronger than its years old competitors at this point and sell it for a still reasonable price. It seems like Nintendo is under-investing in their hardware again.
Underpowered hardware with a gimmick sold at a premium price has been Nintendo’s model for 20 years. Not sure why Switch 2 would be unique in this regard.

I think 1080p at 60 fps is considered good enough for the vast majority of the userbase. Also most of the highest selling Switch games were Wii U ports or look like it could run off a Wii U.

I guess I don’t see PS4 level power as necessarily a bad thing. The last time Nintendo attempted to be competitive was the GameCube. They will make Mario Kart 9 on it and it’ll sell dozens of millions of copies no matter what it looks like.

Do you remember what the YouTuber's name was?

I've always pronounced it as Jeh-no, but looking at the Japanese spelling it's supposed to be Jee-no.
