Oh hey, something that actually makes me want to say "Fuck Nintendo" over, if only becuase keeping an entire nation from buying your products is a retarded decision becuase of the money you could be making over in an economy that's progressivily taking over the west's spot as #1 next to China and not some nerds who should have seen the warning signs the moment they thought of the idea.

Actually they are seemingly giving full control to the retard former CEO via another company:
Indeed, Nintendo confirmed that Haddaji's company was being considered as a potential supplier of repair and warranty services for Nintendo products that had already been sold in Russia.

Now, that relationship has been made official.

"To honour preceding commitments to our customers and ensure service continuity, Nintendo entered into a temporary cooperation with [Haddaji's] company LLC Achivka as its official supplier for repair and warranty for Nintendo products that had already been sold in the Russian market," Nintendo has now confirmed to Eurogamer.

The timing of Haddaji's departure coincides with Nintendo's formal decision to permanently close its digital eShop in Russia. Nintendo informed developers of its decision via email yesterday, as seen by Game Developer. Nintendo took its Russian eShop offline for "maintenance" in early 2022. Going forward, Switch owners will simply be able to use the eShop to redownload already-purchased games.

Despite Haddaji having run Achivka for some time, his LinkedIn page states he became General Manager of the company as of June 2023. His tenure as General Manager of Nintendo Russia is listed as ending in May 2023, suggesting there was no overlap.

If I were a normie I'd be shocked that anyone gives enough of a shit about 1-2-Switch to care about posting anything about it, but I know Nintendo loyalists have to shit their pants in some direction every time something's announced.
>"Nintendo fans don't like new product? That means they must be fanboys who consoom product!"
What the hell is this mental gymnastics :stress:

Anyway, never played 1-2 Switch and probably won't play this one, but it's nice that it's only $30 since that's absolutely what the first one should have been.

the point is that they're upset it's not Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, etc
they're mad that 1-2-Switch is getting a sequel because in their peanut brains they think it's taking away dev time from something "better" that they actually care about

Like say, Arms or Splatoon?

Reminder that Nintendo of Russia was run by a near crimal pajeet who was so hated by Russians that they created a western campaign to raise awareness of exactly how shitty he was.

And double reminder that they are trusting him to now create an independent company to handle warranties. Surely he won't just tell people with broken Switches to fuck off if they are east of the Urals like that one little girl contest winner.

1-2-Switch sequels is the reason you still don't have Metroid Prime 4, nerds.

Someone called Shenanigans, you all better go home and get your brooms

Russia is no where near taking the #1 spot to anything. Russia's economy is roughly equivalent to the state of New York. Russia has never been a major market for Nintendo, which is why they've neglected it for so long. If anything, this is just confirming to everyone what was already readily apparent.

No surprise, New York's economy is also bigger than South Korea's, Spain's, and Australia's, Texas' is bigger than New York's and it beats Canada and finally California's which beats all the world countries except Germany, Japan and China. And yeah Nintendo wasn't big in Russia, they are more of a PC gaming country like China and South Korea.

And then there's Nevada. It's literally just Mars. And Wyoming doesn't exist.

I'd still like to know why exactly they pretend StarTropics doesn't exist, like going so far as to not even include the tiniest thing from it in Smash Bros.
I mean it still gets re-released digitally, so it's not like they haven't COMPLETELY abandoned it. 🤷‍♂️

By the way, saw this while looking online...

>Nintendo removed the letter... THE VERY IMPORTANT PIECE OF INFORMATION... from the switch release
>The WiiU version is just a JPG

L. O. FUCKING L!!! They couldn't be fucked to do something special anymore like they did with the Wii version. Guess anyone that wants to play the game to completion will have to check out gamefaqs now. :story:

Star Tropics probably gets overlooked because, unlike literally every other game of its era, it never saw, or was intended to have a Japanese release, even though it was written and directed by Genyo Takeda. It wasn't the only IP to be completely overlooked. Geist, for instance, got no references at all in Smash, even though Eternal Darkness did.

It goes to show they don't understand how Nintendo games are made.

This is an excellent video. It didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, but its a good primer for anyone who was interested in this information. Many people aren't aware that their favorite cult Nintendo hit, whether that be Chibi Robo, or Dillon's Rolling Western, or Eternal Darkness, or Geist, or Custom Robo, were not worked on internally by Nintendo, but by studios that Nintendo partnered with. Nintendo owns the IP (partially owns in a few specific cases), but the third and second party studios were the ones that made the games. This is why many of these games haven't gotten sequels recently.

This system of relying on third and second party partnerships has allowed Nintendo to increase its own game output far beyond what it would normally be possible to do and is why Nintendo has neglected putting many resources into increasing its internal development capacity, either through organic expansion or Merger and Acquisition. However, I think the efficacy of this system has run its course, which is why we are seeing fewer Nintendo titles outside the big releases. This method of increasing Nintendo's development capacity reached its peak in the Gamecube and Wii era, and remained strong for all of Nintendo's handheld consoles. But it collapsed completely by the time of the Wii U, and was even less prominent for the 3DS. The Switch has been mostly carried by Nintendo's first party studios, and a few longtime partners that still provide games, which are primarily Hal Laboratory, Intelligent Systems, Good-Feel, Grezzo, Camelot Software Publishing, and Platinum Games, along with Tose and indieszero to a lesser extent and Nintendo's extensive partnerships with Koei Tecmo and Bandai Namco Games. (this is excluding the Pokemon developers Game Freak Genius Sonority, and Creatures).

The main issue with Nintendo's partnership system is that its inherently unstable. The studios that Nintendo work with can be bought out (Rare), go out of business (Cing, AlphaDream), or simply cease to work with Nintendo (Silicon Knights, Left Field Productions). This has lead to a slow attrition of Nintendo specific developers over the years, cutting into Nintendo's unofficial development capacity.

I believe the fear that this would continue to happen is what drove Nintendo to acquire Next Level Games and SRD, their two most recent acquisitions. With Sony and Microsoft leading the way in expansion to increase their own internal development capacity, and consolidation in general rising within the industry, its probably only a matter of time before Nintendo joins the consolidation wave.
