It's not about the other companies, it's about releasing a machine that isn't an old Nvidia Shield from 10 years ago.
I'm sure someone has said it before, but the fucking Gameboy was obsolete when it released and didn't have a successor for 9 to 12 years depending on how argumentative one wants to be.

Having an old as fuck machine means very little to them. The main motivator is when it stops selling.

software has topped 1 billion units sold. This gives us an attach rate of 8, which is crazy.
If that includes downloads, I can see that number being easy to hit with how many random games go for like, under 10 cents, sometimes literally a penny.

Yup, they're a toy company at heart. They only need systems powerful enough to run the games they want to make. Getting worked up over Nintendo consoles having weak hardware is like getting worked up over Lego's robotic lines not being sturdy enough for you to build your own car.

I'm not asking Nintendo to make a console with 8K and memetracing features, just that they make something powerful whilst cheap enough to allow their devs to make games that run at more than 30fps in [current year]
As for le "heckin' little toy company", come on. Videogames are toys.

I mean at this point, when it comes to Nintendo, it boils down to their first party games being top notch, which 90% of the time they are. I wouldn't care if their next console was a fucking toaster in terms of hardware, as long as the games for said toaster were great.

Only thing Nintendo really has going against them are the weird-ass decisions they make every now-and-then (hardware gimmicks, online subscriptions, etc...), with their latest one being the new Zelda fiasco, and before that was the dumpster fire of Pokemon Scarlet/Violet

Well, yeah, that is literally how they operate, as opposed to producing general game + streaming boxes with mid-tier components from the year they debuted. You will get the minimum hardware necessary to output a Bing Bing Wahoo in whatever year a new Bing Bing Wahoo is scheduled to release, and you will enjoy that hardware until the next Bing Bing Wahoo.

I like how you just mentioned that their sales rely on their first party games being good before going on to list the disasters that have been the last three major releases from the company lmao

Nintendo's been weirdly off-bat as of late, have they put out anything truly stellar in the last year or two? From what I can tell it's mostly been mediocre sequels or smaller titles that don't do too much to blow socks off
correct me if I'm wrong

You can definitely tell who grew up with Lego or K'next or whatever and who watched tv all the time.

"Just gonna play some Super Mario World, from start to finish. Some may ask 'why?' Well, you don't really need a reason to play Mario World because it's just that good, but, also, this game is my Thanksgiving game. I just play this every year on Thanksgiving, and I don't know why, and it just reminds me of.....good, good times."

The funny thing about both Labo and GBG is that Nintendo designed these with children in mind, that was their target group for those products, to plant a bug of creativity in their minds. Except most of Nintendo's fanbase are manchildren who will buy anything Nintendo releases and declares it as the greatest thing ever.

And they won't get to think that maybe they can do something more creative, they'll just consume product and get excited for next product, completely missing the point of those. I swear Nintendo could release a literal piece of shit that you mush in your hands and target it to kids and all those manchild retards would buy it and declare it as the most entertaining thing ever. :story:

If there's only one thing I can say good about Vinny here is his Red Vox band. Otherwise, he's no Joel and he never will be.

Won't those kids get bored with having several pieces of cardboard lying about the house within an few weeks?

they will, which is probably why it sold like shit and got axed a year into its run
parents probably knew the kids wouldn't be engaged with it for long enough to warrant the ridiculous launch price (I think it was something like 80 bucks? I know it was way too much for fucking cardboard at the very least)

It's okay. A few kids will have played them and gotten some good out of them. There was no hope for the manchildren anyway, so we can just ignore them. Us. Whatever.

Every fandom is insecure and defensive over a product they worship like cults. Sure, they are good at pointing out Sony and Microsoft's huge flaws and their respective fanbase, but when someone makes the same exact comment about Nintendo in the same way as Microsoft and Sony, they'll get pissed upon hours. Nintendo fanboys are obviously a military of creepy, bratty manbabies and, well, tl;dr they need to go outside and get some exercise.

That's because Nintendo are objectively better than Microsoft and Sony and any slight against Nintendo is tantamount to a war crime.

Sure, Nintendo is quality with their games, and both east and west divisions are even cool with employees and do not enforce bullshit tactics towards the workers unlike Sony, Micro, EA, ActiBlizz, Squeenix, Ubi, Capcom, 2K, etc.

That said, even with those merits, they're still very controlling with corporate decisions as with any big name company. My point being whenever Nintendo does something completely fucked up, its fans will bitch and moan, but then when the company reveals something just as stupid, like Labo (a literal cartboard box) for nearly $300, some character gets in Smash for DLC, when a Mario movie drops, etc., they get excited and forget about the whole thing they were ranting about. It's an endless cycle that repeats itself over and over.

That's my point here. Nintendo may be the lesser of evils in comparison to Sony and Micro in terms of games and working conditions and such, but they still do shitty tactics like with any other company.
