I wouldn't exactly call the same 10 input reading bosses and shitty """"dungeons""""" being copy pasted across the map massive
BOTW just had 1 boss for it's multiple copy pasted dungeons.

Having stuff like Trolls, Crucible Knights, Magma Wyrms and such in similar rolls still gave it more variety.

There were also unique bosses in the overworld like Lansseax.

That wasn't a boss though, just a shitty damage sponge designed to drain you out of your paper swords and glass bows
Botw had a whopping 10 bosses (4 of them reused several times, 5 unique ones and a dogshit shoot the target final boss)

Fine if you're upset at my comparison would you like a better example then?

Elden Ring is what BOTW's world should have been. Multiple small dungeons that dot the landscape and you have many huge ass multi leveled dungeons like The Academy. Dozens upon dozens of different enemies that populate the world, every environment looks drastically different than the others, nothing is flat or boring looking. A massive amount of bosses both in dungeons and outside the world. Quests were better designed and lead to real worthwhile rewards. A plethora of secrets to find for both gear and unlocking shortcuts. You can descend down into a well and find yourself looking up at the "stars" and it trumps other game's underground areas like Blackreach in both design and aesthetic.

And you can summon your horse anywhere.

What I was expecting from an open world Zelda game in terms of a world full of exploration and variety, I got in Elden Ring. Zelda's strengths have always been it's overworld exploration and it's dungeons, both of which were rather weak despite it's large size. Previous Zelda games did more with less like Majora's Mask. Termina was a more fleshed out world, with layers to it's areas. They were smaller in size, but every place had it's purpose and each quest lead to a new mask or piece of gear/upgrade. Once you thought you fully explored something, another mask quest lead you down pathways that you didn't see or knew that existed the first time.
Eiden Ring is an completely different genre from BOTW, your argument is invalid

I always find funny how Marissa Moira is the poltergeist of Kiwi Farm's game subforum. Nobody agrees with his takes but that doesn't stop him from engaging in useless discussions with other unaware users.

They're not the same genre, but what they have in common is close enough to compare.
Come on, man. Zelda is essentially an hunting simulator with forgiving mechanics, including the puzzles. It's pretty autistic to compare it to something that was styled after Dark Souls.

In my defense, I'm bored and nearly everywhere else bans this type of argument because it "upsets people" or something

The combat mechanics are different between the two games as are enemy design philosophy.

However Elden Ring had the ideal structure of what an open world Zelda should have been. You have around 6-7 main dungeons then about a dozen smaller dungeons, and then a couple dozen very small dungeons. Each one always had a piece of permanent usable gear or an upgrade placed at the end of it as well as a variety of bosses.

Any of the main elden ring dungeons had quite a few tiers to them as well where the environments would change. The Academy had the main court yard where you engaged with your first boss, which lead into the interior where you would fight the wolf which was the second boss, you could also get on top of the rooves which that whole area had it's own set of enemies, or you could take the elevator and descend around the outside until you wound up into the pit where you could be taken to the Volcano manor basement town if you allowed yourself to be captured. The Dungeon culminated with the final boss Rennala who upon defeat allowed you to unlock character respecs. These were much better designed than any of the main BOTW dungeons which were all short in both length and number even by Zelda standards.

@Marissa Moira stop lying!

Then why compare them if the Zelda series never went that route?

These were much better designed than any of the main BOTW dungeons which were all short in both length and number even by Zelda standards.
And more importantly, why not just stick to just playing Eiden Ring, since it's so much better than BOTW?
