New Rumour Suggests Advance Wars Could Be Delayed Until 2023

Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp was originally meant to launch last year until Nintendo decided it needed some more time in the oven. It then got delayed (again) due to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. So when is this turn-based tactical strategy war game going to be released then?

There's a new rumour doing the rounds online that suggests fans of Andy, Sami, Max and co might be waiting until next year. It all stems from Twitter user 'EnterZalman' (as spotted by GameXplain), who recently got an email update about their pre-order of Advance Wars for Switch - suggesting the game won't be arriving until next year. The date on the same retailer's website has also been changed to 24th February 2023. While a delay until next year could be possible, the exact date is admittedly odd - with commenters online highlighting how this would be exactly a year after the invasion of Ukraine. As a reminder, this was the message Nintendo originally issued the second time Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp was delayed:
"In light of recent world events, we have made the decision to delay Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, which was originally scheduled to release on Nintendo Switch on April 8th. Please stay tuned for updates on a new release date."
The same retailer was reportedly correct about the release date of Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. Nintendo's most recent update about the release date of Advance Wars was during its fianacial report (dating back to May) - listing the launch date as TBA. Although Advance Wars has been delayed on two separate occasions, it hasn't stopped some people from playing it. In fact, someone got early access to the game via the Switch eShop earlier this year. Nintendo eventually revoked access to their game, but it seems the two-in-one release is in a perfectly playable state.

My theory, if this holds water? The game was nowhere near ready enough for an April release, and with Ukraine, the perfect excuse fell into their lap.

Wasn't there a thing where people who preordered a digital copy got to download it on the then-canceled release date? I didn't see any follow-ups about it being drastically unfinished. Plus, wouldn't that mean there should be pirated copies floating around by now?

If it weren't just a remake, I'd hack my Switch for it by now.

Also, a biiiiiig wtflol on releasing it on the anniversary of the Ukrainian war, lol.

Live A Live is this Friday boys!
I'll sit out a bit on that one because I'm aiming for Xenoblade 3 next week, closely followed by GrimGrimoire OnceMore.
And there are a few games in my Switch backlog, such as Alien Isolation and Bug Fables, that I'd like to do beforehand as well.

Game really does look neat though

Doesn't look like the Japanese version has English and I refuse to use Play Asia, so no.
There is a list of japanese versions having english language support that could be helpful to you btw

I normally check Play Asia's listing, but this is helpful, thanks.

Do I need a separate account to buy Japanese games or can I do so with my old account, but just swap via VPN?
The japanese account is only necessary if you were to buy DLCs or digital games, you can import japanese physicals and play them on your main american/european account.
However you have to get prepaid cards in order to buy things on the japanese eshop unless you actually own a japanese credit card.

I recall you can swap the country of your primary account but all gold points are lost, and I dunno how the process affects past game purchases (especially for games not available elsewhere or having different regional SKUs, i.e. titles censored in Japan like Resident Evil and Saint Row). So creating a secondary eshop account sounds less a hassle.

Edit: To be more precise, you can buy a digital game off the japanese eshop with the second account and play it on the primary US/EU account profile, as long as both accounts are tied to the same Switch console. Same for DLCs, you can buy them on the second account and still have access to them in-game through your main account profile.

I decided to give Triangle Strategy a shot and holy shit is the voice acting bad. How is this even possible in current year? We had better VA in the 90s when studios were pulling randoms in off the street to do line reads.

The dialogue doesn't help and the writing definitely has that bad anime stink about it but damn, the VA is so bad I'm in physical pain from the cringe.

Cronyism has gotten a lot worse since the 90's. There were at least some classically trained people back then, but not anymore. It's all faggots from the internet doing funny voices and making political connections.

There are said faggots that are talented and do a decent job, but they don't seem to be the ones making connections as often.

EDIT: Ah, so I do still need an account. Was kind of hoping maybe they eased up on that.
As @BananaSplit said, for physicals it's no problem. I have games from HK, Korea and Japan and they all work fine on my Switch. Occasionally you get dlc coupons in the games and you need to create accounts to redeem those but it's not hard.

I forgot how ridiculous infinite climax in Bayonetta 2 was. Jesus christ making every enemy parry everything was a shit move. How do people even do this? Here’s hoping 3 doesn’t have too many little annoyances from 1, and doesn’t fall apart on the hard mode like 2.

Would this finish it later shit have happened under Iwata?
Extremely late reply, but during Iwata era people got Mario Golf World Tour with paid day 1 DLC and a Wii Sports remake where you had to pay for each sport individually, people might have easily forgotten with the hype behind MK8 DLC and Smash 4 but they were really desperate to get some extra bucks from the tiniest things around that time, nowadays they expect you to keep paying for NSO while you wait for the free updates.
