Well thanks for that. I'm trying to find shit on here that makes the switch truly fun and unique

Is the only reason the switch is popular because it's portable?

There's a number of reasons, joy cons being used in unique ways is 100 percent not one of them:

Zelda BotW hype: That game made the Switch a must-buy at launch. Everyone except Jim Sterling and Marissa Moira thought it lived up and told their friends about it too.
Mario Kart: Keeps attracting normies, til this day.
Amazing launch year lineup: Beyond the above two, there was also Mario, XB, Splatoon and a few others that I am blanking on. The Switch had an amazing year one driving momentum.
Consistent lack of software droughts: "Switch"ing from two systems to just one meant that Nintendo didn't have to engage in the balancing act anymore. There was a small drought in, I think, the second year (the one that ended with Pokemon and Smash) and another one post-covid but thats basically it. Notably less than Nintendo's previous consoles and less than the Xbox post-2010.
Pokemon and Smash: Regardless of your thoughts on their quality (especially Pokemon) those titles had absolutely massive public interest. Smash and Pokemon together saved an otherwise dismal year for Nintendo and both set series sales records. Multiple times even, for P-mon.
Animal Crossing: Amazing system seller to an audience that doesn't buy many games but does still affect public perception.
Addition of portable benefits: sales to kids, sales to regular public transit users, adding Pokemon to the lineup.
Ports sold well enough to continue being made up until at least recently.
Early life Nintendo Selects indie games: These were expertly chosen. Overcooked and whatever that other one was probably did more to sell switches than 1 2 Switch.
And a big one- FOMO: Positive word of mouth made it a must have item, regardless of specifics.
 
Been on a 3 month spree of reporting all tranny activity on Splatoon 2. Nintendo actually listens and removes offending players .

It's a non stop battle, but finally making progress.

What does everyone think of Triangle Strategy, which is coming out the first week of March? I liked the demo, and even though there are multiple story paths, it looks like it will be a more focused experience than Octopath Traveler. And if it ends up sucking, at least Advance Wars is coming out in April.

Yes, and it also features the same amount of content that you'd expect from Nintendo.

The story feels like you're just going through the motions if you're being "good"; and if the demo is anything to go by, you can convince your compatriots into trying to kill one of your main characters.

Honestly, I'm mostly interested to see how many stupid decisions I can make before I get an game over. I'm guessing two or three.

Not only that, but it supports vertical display orientation when portable. This is an essential feature not only for retro games like Pac-Man and Donkey Kong, but also more recent games like Contra and Kiki Kaikai, not to mention video pinball. True video game fans have cried out for this feature for years, only to be told by the fatcats that it was impossible. Well, Nintendo found a way. The only previous handheld to support a vertical display was the Japan-only Wonderswan, but as of today the essential Wonderswan title Judgement Silversword is on Switch so we can all toss our old Wonderswans into a trash compactor.

The lack of a playable big-breasted blonde woman had me worried that this would be a step down from Wild Guns Reloaded and Ninja Saviors, but I find the big-breasted purple-haired woman to be an acceptable substitute. This game should have something for everyone, furries and pedos won't be left out.

YOOOOOOOOO. Pocky & Rocky is an underrated SNES gem, so seeing it brought back, and in the best way possible (no "redrawn" graphics, just new levels in the old design) was a majorly pleasant surprise for me this afternoon! Will definitely pick this up when it comes to the West should the user reviews be favorable!

That's a decent name, better than whatever they'll really call it, something dumb like New Switch.

Best name would be Switch 2, make sure everyone knows it's something completely new. Maybe even ditch the Switch name entirely.

Pocky and Rocky isn't underrated, it's ungodly expensive.

I don't understand why Twilight Princess gets so much hate nowadays, I found it to be a wonderful experience and it is a favorite of mine and yes I've played and completed prior 2D Zelda games as well as OoT and WW. (Cannot express opinion of SW since I never owned a Wii) As for Okami: it is a masterpiece, played the original PS2 release and I considered it one of the best Zelda-likes ever made.

I remember spending hours trying to find the last Poe because the Gamecube version had no means of keeping track between the ones you found and the ones you did not.
