One word: Hololive.
Maybe if they’d advertised the game to that demographic.

Xenoblade X has the benefit of 2 making the audiance massive and making it clear to Monolith that people actually want the games. Up until that point they’d released a cult classic in Xeno 1 and X was on the U so failed.

It’s why the censorship is likely not going to be an issue. No one played X in the first place that had more to do with the U than anything else and no one wanting to wait an hour for the game to download stability patches. To say nothing of all the other issues. Censorship was the bottom of the list.

Paper Mario TYD X is not.

Hololive had their boom because of the pandemic and is geniuenly kinda more weeb/normie friendly to watch.

TMS dropped at a time before any of this happened and the niche for idolfag shit was within Idolm@ and Love Live, who i doubt had that much overlap with SMT/Persona fans, even in the west, it being a Wii U exclusive instead of the OG's 3DS target also crippled it, the censorship was just the piss on the grave. Some of it was the haha Japan age edits but they censored monster cleavage (cleavage that the same character in a T rated game proudly displayed, mind you) in an M game and had the infamous "vagina bones" edit. It was even so lazy that they removed cleavage in the easily viewable idolfag MVs but not in the in game costumes you stared at for most of a playthrough.

I could see grifters brining up ‘Xenoblade censorship’ again but those people weren’t playing Xenoblade in the first place or the ones screaming for completed remaster for a decade so I don’t see the censhorship mattering. Especially when it is on the Switch, any sales will mean it did better than the U version. And the fact we even have this game no doubt means they expect it to do well enough despite everything. Or they need everyone to play X for 4 to make any sense.

That’s kind of what is nice about Monolith. They make the games primarily their core audiance really wants.

The success is seemingly an afterthought.

How Baten Kaitos got a remaster I will never know.

People are talking about the Switch 2 but Nintendo's M.O. is to either throw everything out from the previous generation, center it around some stupid gimmick, or both. Nintendo has done an excellent job of making people forget how a lot of the early Switch games used the joycons as mini-Wii controls. Wii Sports was iconic and everyone played it, and partly that was because it was the pack-in game. No one talks about 1-2-Switch, no one talks about Snipperclips: Cut It Out, Together!, while ARMS and Nintendo Labo are only remembered for the memes.

Ok but why use the EU/US Wii U version for the JP Switch version? Theres already a Wii U JP version so why not just use that? I think it’s because the Wii U JP version is too based for today’s standards. They did the same with Mirage Sessions and Fatal Frame Maiden of Black Water.
Lin is 13 in the Japanese version.

Probably a smart move now that Japan raised the age of consent to 16 from 13.

The ‘omg X Remake is happening/never thought it would/doubted them’ vids are funny.

It was always going to happen snd there is usually a generation between them.

The only reason it did not happen sooner was they were likely too busy. The second Baten Kaitos got a remaster it was obvious X was coming.

Baiten Kaitos was done without Nintendo though.

And namco did a terrible job, which caused it to bomb.

None of those would indicate good odds for X normally.

It indicates they had time to spare. If they had time for that they likely had time to work on X as well.
I dont see what the Age of consent has anything to do with that. Some prefactures in Japan have it at 18. Its fiction. Theres no reason to bring up real world laws when talking about fiction.
Very obviously, revealing clothing on a character that is clearly a child. Real people look at you funny even if it is completely ok in the realm of the fiction.

Age ratings are there for a reason.

Fiction isn't anything goes. But unless she's in a sex scene, which I'm doubting since it's Nintendo, then it's an unnecessary change.

Monolith had absolutely nothing to do with the Baten Kaitos remasters. That was entirely just Bamco banking on Monolith's recent popularity but doing a piss poor job at it.

They are likely finally porting X because they need to fill 2025 until the Switch 2 comes out and its the last big game left, and because following the events of Xenoblade 3's DLC, the next Xenoblade game will most likely be in the X continuity/X is now/always has been canon to the mainline games, so they are re-releasing it for people to catch up and for the epilogue story like they did for Xenoblade 1. Xenoblade 1 was not required as a prerequisite going into 2, but it arguably was for going into 3 and the epilogue story added in DE hinted at future events in 3, so it is likely the same here as well. They've been hinting at this epilogue story since even in the original X, and they did it again in the Elma DLC for 2

Its not really the last big game, there's still Woolly World. And, uh... do they actually own Art Academy or just publish it? I guess there's whatever clay Kirby was called. Geez, it really is slim pickins now, isn't it. Nintendoland and Punchout (Wii) are both good games but heavily motion-centric. From late Wii era there is also the two other Project Rainfall games but the switch is already swimming in JRPGs, I don't think they'd make a smash even though that one beast flesh game at least looked pretty good. For Wii era there's also Galaxy 2 but since its highly likely 3D Mario launches with Switch 2 I don't think they want to do two in one year.

I hate to be that guy but taking a fictional character seriously like that is retarded. Censorship is censorship.

I am not going to make this a loli vs anti debate, but this is a bad precedent.

Small things like this always lead to bigger things.

I guess I'm a little surprised they didn't port the enhanced 3DS ports of Good Feel's games to Switch, but maybe Crafted World flopped. It'd be cool if Nintendo could at least salvage Star Fox Zero if we aren't getting a new entry any time soon.

Color Splash would be an easy port. May as well do Super Paper Mario while they're at it. I'm curious how they'd butcher those, who thought Color Splash could get worse :story:

I like to be that guy, some censorship is good.
