Is it really that or do you just want to take advantage of the devalued yen? There's no shame about it but I would still prefer the NA box and warranty.
I wasn't aware it was that bad currently, sounds like another reason to do it lol

It's actually crazy how that game is able to run at all on the Switch. Sure there's more load times to compensate and the visuals took a hit, but if you're playing on handheld neither of those things really matters much. Ports on Switch 2 are gonna be interesting.

Edit:
Big day for Gameboy fans. Five Mega Man games just dropped on NSO.

Mega Man V is really fun, I love how unique it is. It really stands out among the GB titles, but also the rest of the classic series.

But I already own most of this stuff.

I figure most of you are almost 30 and the other most of you are almost 20. The average has dropped a bunch since 2016. And everyone else are largely outliers.
You think a guy whose name is a Beavis and Butthead reference isn't even 30? The original run ended 27 years ago.

I mean it's not impossible some zoomer got really into an old TV show, but it's much less likely than the alternative.

Nintendo must agree, since they bought the studio that ported it. (Shiver entertainment)

The yen is weak against the american dollar but it's much weaker against the euro where I live.
Many games on the Japanese eshop are nearly half the euro price, a freshly released first-party title would range at a converted 34€~35€ (versus 60€) for example. Japanese RPGs are usually on the higher side (they can range between 7500~10,000 yen) and tend to only support moonrunes in the language settings, which is fine by me but I'm saying as a mere warning.

Importing a console system would be more of a last recourse on my end in the instance that Nintendo were to restore the region-lock on the Switch 2 as a way to fight back against export scalpers. Which I hope not, but the scalping of electronic goods in Japan has been a quite serious matter in the last few years.

NoA is the main cultprit here. I'm thinking of going as far as to import a Switch 2 from Japan to deprive NoA of the sale.
Honestly, if it turns out Switch 2 is not backwards compatible, and my digital purchases don't transfer over, I'm probably going to get a Steamdeck or something for myself. I never really got over buying a shitload of games for Wii U only to have them get released at full price for Switch and not being able to link my accounts and even get a discount or something, and if they pull that shit again I'm done buying new Nintendo shit for myself. (Will likely still have to buy it for the kids)

That's a good idea. Hell, I might wait until there's some fancy special edition, too.

  • We Love Katamari REROLL + Royal Reviere - $7.49 ( regular price $30 )
only good deal I see

I never bought Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for this reason, and it never price dropped.

I'd be shocked if they didn't support backwards compatibility at this point, but I wouldn't put it past them. I'm not in any hurry to buy a new Nintendo console right now, anyway. I'm really happy with my PC + Steam Deck setup.

@Pissmaster It's most likely that Nintendo's carrying over the account system from Switch, so I wouldn't worry about backwards compatibility.

Nintendo set up a seperate company last year to make and manage a new account system. What is more likely is that they roll that out on Switch and then use it to transfer stuff over.

That would be pretty shitty if region-locking returned... I never cared about it before, with my luck now that I do it'll suddenly return lmao.

Yeah, there's no rush really, that's probably smart. It would take an absolute must-play for me to pick one up early, like a dream release situation.

You are a real sourpuss
I don't see any really good deals there, even the supposedly legendary Steam sales are usually higher than I'd like. They used to be better from what I hear.

They just need Space Invaders, Centipede, Frogger, and the GameBoy Loony Toons game and then NSO Gameboy would feel almost worth it.

I'm expecting 7/10, better than people are probably expecting but nothing crazy.

Can't be worse than what Sony dropped.

It can but let's be optimistic.
Yeah, it really can't lol. The only new thing that was sorta interesting was the Astrobot thing. Nintendo could only shit out a Zelda remake or even just HD ports and it would win by default.

A new system for NSO would be interesting, but I feel they'll save that for Switch 2. Dreamcast and GameCube would be good additions.
