622 hours spread across 14 games. Since it looks to not count December, it didn't fuck up and count the few hours last week I spent loading up every Switch game I ever played in order to input their data into exophase.com a website which gives you actual down to the minute gameplay totals for all of your "recently played" games. Anyways, here's my year in review:

It's nothing new. Back in the 2000's Nintendo was the only company to keep BMX XXX uncensored.

The "kid safe" schtick didn't fully come into play until the Wii era. I think the only "hentai" related thing I saw during that time was a Sexy Poker game on the 3DS eShop. But now Nintendo is pretty chill with that stuff, as bare tits seem to be perfectly fine (but not vag shots, which is probably why a lot of VN's with uncensored versions are still censored and ourtright omit the -unrated- patches).

And these were bold risks from Nintendo themselves, especially during a time Sony and Microsoft were deemed the more mature alternatives.

The censorship that Nintendo is known for, and the reason they had the "kiddie" image is because of the censorship that Nintendo of America enforced back during the NES and SNES eras under the direction of Howard Lincoln, to the point where even Devil World, a Shigeru Miyamoto game, was never brought to America, and all Christian references were removed from The Legend of Zelda. All third party games were subject to this censorship (the Final Fantasy games are famous examples) and this culminated in Nintendo censoring Mortal Kombat (which allowed the Sega Genesis version to sell better) and Lincoln throwing it and the rest of the game industry under the bus in a testimony before congress. That kiddie image has stuck to them like glue ever since, even when Nintendo abandoned the censorship policy following Lincoln's departure, and published Eternal Darkness, its first M rated game.

Technically true, but they've eased up considerably over time rather than just opening the floodgates, a few outliers existed prior but that's pretty much all they were until Switch.
