Bringing up Monster Hunter World just proves my point. Sony had no involvement in that game's development, and its not Playstation exclusive. Its not even a console exclusive
Actually yes it was, it depended on the territory. They had a paid exclusivity for specific regions for MHW.

Sony doled out the cash for advertising and promotional events for it as well.

No it wasn't, Monster Hunter World released WORLDWIDE for Xbox One and PS5 on January 26, 2018. It later released on PC August 9. The only thing Playstation owners got exclusive was a limited demo, exclusive to Playstation Plus members, and two additional demos, available to all PS4 owners.

I usually try to play games in order of release anyway so I'd play Xenoblade in order regardless. Assuming I like it.

Otherwise you end up with a situation like Dragon Quest Builders where you play the second one first because it is better and then can't go back to play the first one (even though it is great) because some quality of life changes are missing.

Just randomly looked on Google search results and the Xenoblade Chronicles 3 trailer is now one of the most trending and talked about video game trailers for this time of the month. Granted, it might have just came out, but the timing for this is interesting.

If anything, it reminds me a little bit of Metroid Dread. A lot of people didn’t know what to expect when a new Metroid game came for the Switch, and now fast forward to today, it’s one of the more successful NS titles in the start of the 2020’s.

XC3 and Kirby and The Forgotten Land will come close to it for sure. If SMTV can sell a million units, then I think XC3 will double it.

You can keep your Xenos and Personas. I bet y'all know what MY ultimate JRPG Switch dream is....

Someday, SEGA will remember you, my children. Someday.......

How do you recommend I get into the Xenoblade games? I've still got the first one for the Wii in shrink wrap. I'm not even sure why I bought it. Every time I see it played I feel nothing.

Are there re-releases I can get? I'm probably going to keep my copy wrapped since it has made it this far already.
Get 1 Definitive Edition for the Switch, maybe find a rough overview of 2 if you have a low tolerance for gacha shit (the game’s primary conceit is heavily tied into a gacha mechanic), and then try the standalone expansion of 2 which solves a lot of vanilla 2’s issues by removing the gacha mechanic amd making things more focused. The aforementioned expansion also has better voiceacting than 2 because they were actually allowed multiple takes.

Only avoid 2 if you feel an overwhelming urge to min-max and thus have an unnatural of the, 100% free with literally no pay option, "gacha" mechanic. Because its a great game with a fun story.

And Xenoblade 2 does this with in-game currency in order to purchase important items?
No, you get a near infinite supply of "crystals" that you can create your blades from. There is a random chance that you will get a "named blade" which is a pre-created character with their own catchphrases and special set of quests (also way better than generic blades.) The random nature of it is that once you get a blade linked to one character you cannot* reassign them to another character, and certain blades work best with certain characters. Thus perfectionists/minmaxers save and reload to get blades lined up the way a guide tells them to instead of just playing the fucking game, which isn't even all that hard regardless of which blades are linked to which player characters.

That sounds like me. And that sounds like fun!
I'd mainly recommend Xenoblade 2 purely because it's a game that will let you completely break it in half then. Hitting the damage cap in postgame content is pretty common and the game clearly embraces it with how difficult some superbosses or challenge mode bosses are (and the fact they have ridiculous abilities like Fiora's ability to gain +300% damage permenantly by critting).

It's not served up on a silver platter, but the fact that the game will let you casually hit an enemy for 1 million damage is pretty fun.

The named blades also each have small side quests tied to them.
grinding for cores is a chore though, as something else then comon is hard to get by.
Also you can't dismiss the comon blades on the spot, so you need to go back to the inventory and one by one dismiss them.

some update, I did get the hori split pad pro, these things feel amazing, the lack of rumble or gyro doesn't mean anything to me since I don't play games that make use of em, it's like holding an actual controller for handheld mode now, very comfy and good joystick/buttons

Nope not true, it was exclusive for japan for the PS4. There was no xbox version or PC version released there.
