I'm finally starting see used Switch 2s going for $100 off the msrp price so it's finally becoming reasonable to buy a switch 2 used

Nintentards: "LOL, dumbass Sony increasing the price of their PS5, surely Nintendo wouldn't be so stupid as to do the same thi-"

For those keeping track at home, the "revised price" is the same as the original price for a bundle (that is, a Switch 2 with ONE game).
I think I already made this joke for Microsoft, but whatever:

>”Everyone else is raising their hardware prices, leaving Nintendo in a unique position to win back the family market with an affordable console. And with the Switch’s lifetime sales extremely close to surpassing the PS2’s re-re-re-“adjusted” sales, it’s more important than ever that we keep momentum strong for the Switch 1-“
<“RAISE THE FUCKING NINE YEAR OLD CONSOLE’S PRICE NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

It's so over.

Revised price for US/Canada doesn't come into effect until September. Sales have been strong in Japan, but weaker than expected in North America. I wonder if announcing a price increase this far out is an attempt to spur North American sales.

I'd just like to remind you that Sony had four whole price hikes by this point, five if you count the one they did to refurb'ed PS5s by the time this one happened, not to mention how hike happy Microsoft was with the Xbox Series X/S and Game Pass with price hikes it seems more like a miracle Nintendo held out as long as they did in regard to the Switch 2.

If anything, we should be grateful it's only going up as much as it is. God bless Nintendo.

Not exactly, as well... they could have done this a whole lot sooner, maybe even had it start at the $499 price tag to begin with, I'm guessing besides investors crying about it, it has to do with AI and the current economy, as we just have to look at how well RAM prices are doing where even now they still haven't gone down to before ChatGPT shook the world with that deal that didn't go through.

oh wait, Sony and Nintendo are already are blaming it on RAM as I was typing this

AI has given every tech company a get out of jail free card but not in the same way. While most tech companies just use AI as a buzzword to sucker in investors, it also means everyone who opps out gets a playbook too. All underperformances will be met with the same “wait it out” strategy. Hoping the bubble pops and chip makers will be forced to the table. It’s a Cold War where the buyers lose unless they themselves take an autistic pro or anti AI stance
