I have never seen a group of people more against emulation than Nintendo fans. Love quite a few of their series, but I love game preservation more and playing shit like Xenosaga without needing to push back on inevitable hardware decay is comfy.
What's the logic there? As simple as Nintendo hates emulation of years-old games, so the fanboys do too?
I loved SMRPG and the first few Paper Mario games were pretty cool. I remember hearing they've basically gone to shit since Miyamoto himself chimped the fuck out because he doesn't like Mario games having any depth, story, characters outside the main ones, etc, regardless of what the fans like.
He did. He mostly chimped out over the designs getting too weird for his taste, characters being "too vulgar" in games like Strikers and the story having too many stakes in games like Super Paper Mario. As if characters like Fawful, Count Bleck or Dimentio weren't almost universally praised, especially Fawful. Miyamoto is a staunch autist that thinks the games, even just the RPGs getting a more involved plot or better writing equals it's gonna be a movie game or a shitty deviantART fanfic, and most of Miyamoto's diehard fans think the same. In an alternate universe where the stick up Miyamoto's ass wasn't quite so firm, we could've had a Final Fantasy Tactics tier plot in a Mario game by this point.

Yes. They usually disguise it under "BUT MUH IP", completely disregarding the fact that Nintendo often uses ROMs themselves when emulating their old games.

I want another sequel to Xenoblade but apparently Gamefreak is too retarded to use 3d software and fucked Gay Arceus Game to hell and Monolith now has to dig them out.

I’m still waiting for a sequel to Astral Chain
AssChain is squarely a "I want it when it is 50% off" game. Which will never happen.

But I hear it is good. Is it really that good? Worthy of a sequel? Platinum games have a tendency to be completely impenetrable to all but a few players.

It should be pretty obvious by now: GameFreak sucks.

I really liked astral chain, it is not as deep mechanically as bayo and it doesnt have amazing bosses like rising, but it is pretty charming and fun to play

Well, it's certainly better than buying a decade-old port. But the plot is driven by 7d chess levels of autism and you're going to be disappointed by it.

But who knows if there will be a sequel? Although the ending isn't set up for one, it feels like the city is in the eye of the hurricane.

I've only played enough to get past the intro story beats/inciting action, but it definitely comes across as standard Platinum affair kino, so either you like how over the top the presentation is or you'll think it's too autistic to stick with.

Poor, poor Platinum.

I really hope the day Miyamoto retires or dies, Mario games will have some creativity and character again, i just played Paper Mario The Thousand-year Door for the first time recently, and it feels really bad that things will go downhill from now on.
