The retard who designed the poster meant the deal was for a brand-new Nintendo Switch(the original system), not a fancy upgrade called the "New Nintendo Switch". The needless capitalization of the word "New" caused many people to misinterpret the poster, even though the dates on the poster should've made it obvious.

Hell, I believed the leak too. Here's an archive of gamestop.com/trade from last week: https://archive.ph/osfQp
  • No other capitalization is incorrect, no typos either, even the fine print says "Offer valid on (list of consoles) traded towards purchase of New Nintendo Switch/Nintendo Switch Lite or Xbox Series X | S", implying that New Nintendo Switch is a product name
  • They even went out of their way to specify "Nintendo Switch (v1, v2)", since the Switch had a silent revision that got rid of some major exploits, and has slightly better battery life
Honestly, I think they did that on purpose to help get the word out about their trade-in deal, using the naming scheme as a slick way to claim plausible deniability. They even used a picture of a blue Switch Lite on the left, which you don't usually see in marketing for that thing. Pretty good marketing, hats off to them

The last part where he discusses how quickly people forgive Nintendo when they fuck up is the most important part imo.

Practically every other game company get shit on for weeks when they fuck up yet with Nintendo everybody seems to forget about their mishaps when they throw a new toy at them to play with.

Nintendo won't change as a company until the fanbase start changing their attitudes and actually hold Nintendo accountable when they fuck up.
 
Nothing dumber than seeing some shill beating his meat to a virtually unenhanced port of an old game at a price higher than it originally retailed at, which then locks what few significant enhancements are included behind an overpriced toy.

The eMMC isn't even soldered on in the first place, so technically the 64gb could be done to the regular old Switch. Heck, there's madmen out there just ordering 256gb chips from Samsung and doing it themselves.

The battery life isn't even improved either. Also, a LAN adapter being exclusive to that specific dock? Gee, Nintendo.

Well, I was wrong on it not being real, but I did call that it was just going to be an upgraded screen, it was pretty obvious after the partnership with samsung

Do people not remember that handhelds get updated all the time, even more than consoles? look at the vita, psp, gba sp, Hell the gameboy had one that was just a backlight lol. this shit is more comparible to the DS Lite or gameboy light, minor upgrade but nothing too fancy, might be worth upgrading too whenever the price drops though.

Those never held the same air of regal mystique as console revisions. Then again nobody cared about the Red Wii revision that was released in it's final year.

Except Gameboy Pocket Color revisions and the NES SP, those were the lone exception.
 
The switch's screen is just catching up with the vita's.
Eitherway, I think this is fine, the people that dont have a switch have no reason to not buy this one, and it is an actual multiple design improvement at least, its just not even close to what people where hyping up.
Also I joke about the switch and nintendo, but I do like their stuff, they just fuck up a lot and I already gave up on the other consoles, so I barely want talk about them.
