hey they uhhh. . .

they helped make fire emblem three houses
Graphics are kind of shoddy, support conversations are filmed in a "box" with several background images plastered inside it, the armor on Jeralt looks like it's just floating on him.

I could go on.

This, I am really tired of people blaming ports that run like dogshit on the hardware. Companies are lazy and don't optimize their shit anymore, if you develop with the switch or any console in mind you can get good performance, problem is they develop the games for ps4/xbox1 then port from those doing the bare minimum. And 10 fps? Damn they really need to get harsher with their quality control.
I only have a bunch of western titles on the Switch between Risk of Rain 1&2, Cuphead, Hollow Knight, Downwell, Crash, Rayman Legends, Baba is You, Pix the Cat, Talos Principle and Wonder Boy. Everything else is japanese, and that's what someone should expect out of a Nintendo console system anyway.

RoR2 has been the "roughest" Switch port in my experience so far and only because it has that micro-freeze appearing every 10 minutes. Framerate can also get funky on long Moonson runs but my gaming PC equally struggles too. I have yet to be disappointed by a Switch port of a japanese game on the other hand.

That still leaves 99% of ports being pieces of shit
hahaha

Koei regularly do the Nobunaga Ambition and Romance of Three Kingdoms games
KT also recently produced Buddy Mission Bond, a detective VN/adventure game on the Switch that features Yuusuke Murata's art. Which was pretty entertaining even if quite on the easy side when it comes to deductions and find clues.

You don't play a lot of japanese games on the system then

Brigadine is frequent in slowing the fuck down if too much shit happens in the map, Dragon Quest Trilogy is the IOS ports and they never bothered to correct the issues that stemmed from the games being on a tablet, Mega Dimension Neptunia VII still has all it's shit fucked but the switch now compacts the performance issues ontop of IF still being unable to ship a game without a Game breaking bug, Grandia HD collection still has slowdown with grandia II, Disgaea 6 stalls if you use a power move.

Then you start getting into stuff like Divinity Original Sin 2 on the switch which Bandai namco ported and the game just freezes entirely if too much shit happens on the screen. There's also the Dark Souls 1 port which was below minimal effort.

When stuff is reaching 10 fps because a moderate amount of enemies appear on screen, it's really showing just how weak the hardware is.

Stuff like Metroid Prime 4, Bayonetta 3, BOTW2, all of those will likely be launch year titles. Looking at this year's line up it's incredibly weak which usually means next year's won't have anything until the new console launches.
The fucking Link’s Awakening remake lags constantly. It’s ridiculous.

I'm still ultimately skeptical of a properly souped up upgrade just because in Nintendo's eyes one isn't necessary given how well the Switch is still selling. The hardware being under-powered has been a noted issue since day 1 but so have the Joy-Cons being flimsy plastic and they've gone out of their way to state that they don't really care. Pretty clear to me with how poor the first-party lineup has been of late that Nintendo has officially entered into their complacency phase and is just going to ride out their success until it starts to taper off. If anything, I expect a Pro model to be a slight buff comparable to the difference between the standard and New XL 3DS with very few games running much differently between the two and even fewer games that are made exclusively for it.

I wouldn't mind paying something like $400 for a significantly more powerful model that can actually sort of compete with current gen hardware I just don't think it's going to happen for a few more years.

this sheer audacity

Disgaea 6 has a setting that can swap between Performance and Graphic mode. In the japanese demo on Switch, it was automatically enabled to Graphics by default, which would slow down everything including the story vn parts. Performance mode has virtually no difference in terms of visuals but the game ran significantly better. But let's be honest, Disgaea 6 is a terrible game sequel of the franchise with a much lower amount of animations (group attacks are just the unit portrait cut-ins flashing for one second), less class units (no nekomata, valkyrie, female healer) and there is a massive inflation of numbers in stats/damage (due of lvl 1 in D6 being the equivalent of lvl +100 in previous games), etc. The performance issues (from the graphics mode) is the least of the worries here.

It's like how I don't bother with the Dragon Quest trilogy on Switch because it has the kind of visuals you see from the mobile/PC ports of the early Final Fantasy games.

And I could additionally list One Piece Pirate Warriors 3, Catherine Fullbody and Girls und Panzer DX as good Switch ports of PS4 games too, which prove again it's not the fault of the hardware itself but the actions of the dev teams in charge of said ports. Lazy ports happen but nowhere the amount you were describing.

Lazy ports make up the majority of the switch's library, have you not seen the e-shop and all the stuff on there that's originally from the Apple store that's been just shoved over there by asian companies with minimal effort? You have untranslated games being sold with english descriptions and other stuff. It's the #1 complaint about their digital storefront is that it's frontloaded with garbage and more keeps getting added.

It's not going to suddenly a change with a year or so left to the console's life, even Nintendo is doing their thing where they retreat and release next to nothing until the new console comes out.

Disgaea 6 shouldn't be even needing a performance mode, it's not graphically demanding at all. Guilty Gear takes more resources to run than Disgaea 6 and both are using full 3d models.

The fact is, nintendo isn't running X86 which is what the majority of game platforms run on. They intentionally chose architecture that's non-linear so most devs can't afford to resources to go all out on it since they're going to make more sales on other platforms with an already known and well documented development pipeline. Monster Hunter Rise cost nintendo 5 million to pay capcom upfront for a 1 year exclusivity deal, so yes of course it may be one of more visually appealing games due to them working with the platform holder themselves. But as someone who has spent many hundreds of hours in the series in total, there's a definite graphical downgrade when it comes to Rise's monsters in comparison to World's monster and it's very noticeable in the textures. Because you need to get real up close and measure your hunter against many many monster asses if you're looking for crowns.

Also picking something like x86 ensures that future software and hardware will highly likely be forwards compatible, making everything custom often causes problems down the line if you want to grandfather stuff in or build on already established things.

I would like to know how nintendo plans on increasing the hardware spects while not overshitting on the battery. It's the most gigantic bottleneck.

I am pretty sure the Tegra X2 can reach the same performance as the x1 in a much more efficient way, I think the problem with that chip tho is the cost, and they may also want to make a chip that can use dlss to do ai scaling
I think they may just make a new version of the tegra x1 they have now but with some other chip that adds ai scaling or something that works from the dock

I NEED NOBUNAGA AMBITION GAMES.

Give me tities.

Well it depends, like if they were to improve battery life or even what they would need to stay the same for 2 hours you're looking at like 600-700 for a system which seems way out of the price range for a console and you're moving into ipad and iphone territory.

But if it's a drastic redesign like the rumors are suggesting it may just be fuck off huge like a Korean smartphone, think about the size of a 15 inch wacom pen display. The larger size could keep costs down and it's still around the same portability as the original switch since it would still fit into a similar sized bag.

Unless x86 means something different these days, I don't think anyone uses 32 bit processors anymore unless they have to.

Nintendo will release next to nothing, except for one game (likely Zelda) in the final month or two of the console to get people hyped for next console, and fanboys will fall for it.

Off topic, but it's really strange reading this thread immediately after a Sony thread and seeing Marissa do a complete 180.

That's exactly what I mean, but Zelda is going to be a New Model Switch launch title.

I'm curious, what games do the worst examples of Nintendo fans tend to sperg about the most?

(If I had to pick off the top of my head, I'd pick Pokemon). And for whatever reason, my personal experience is there isn't nearly as much of a toxic fanbase centering around Mario or Zelda as there is for other series - such as Pokemon and Sonic (which isn't technically Nintendo, but now primarily appears in games for Nintendo consoles).

Pokemon is autistic in the sense that it has a min-maxing metagame and regressive video game design.

Sonic..is, well...It gave us CWC.

Fire Emblem revolves around shipping and math. But the funny is with the pedo shippers.

And Super Smash Bros autistics were known for inventing a set of restrictive rules because they can't handle a hard counter to their favorite character.

Zelda, Animal Crossing, and Smash brothers if you're not counting pokemon.

Forgot about Smash Bros - I can see people sperging about that and Animal Crossing; Zelda doesn't seem like it would be such a sperg magnet to me.

As far Sonic, given that most of the post-Sega Genesis Sonic games were just generic cash grabs which bombed with the critics, I'm shocked that it's still around, let alone something that still has spergs and obsessives.
