I still remember the Nintendo goons on SA and some of the bizarre shit that they would say on there. This was when the Wii was still the current thing and I can't imagine they've gotten any less weird.
They would constantly insist Nintendo basically owned the very concepts of "fun," "color," and "gameplay." No other console's games had those things. No exceptions. Have fun playing Bioshock, Fallout, RDR, etc? No you didn't. Nintendo has "fun" copyrighted. If it's not rainbow colored, cartoony, and involving lots of jumping between platforms it's just not worth playing.
Absolutely no other gaming company has ever innovated anything, and Nintendo has never once had a gimmick or fad. Dual screens? Motion controls? Buying toys to unlock things in-game? Life changing innovations that only Nintendo could create. They were oddly insistent that it was everyone else with the gimmicks. Dual controller sticks, HDMI, hard drives, VR, online gaming, all stupid gimmicks. Though they'd usually find a way to claim every new idea that caught on was somehow stolen from Nintendo.
The constant overblowing of the 1983 video game "crash" to paint Nintendo as some kind of savior that can do no wrong. Even today. They seem to think without Nintendo, video games in general just wouldn't exist now. At all. No one else would have made a console. So we should just let them be as anti-consumer as they want to be and praise them no matter what. They earned it.
M-rated games are for little children, while E-rated games are for mature Nintendo playing adults. This is because middle schoolers like to be edgy and play stuff like GTA, while true gamers enjoy Smash and Pokemon, and they're all like 40 years old.
The one that really weirded me out was the goon who grew up with Nintendo consoles, and wanted the same for his kid. Which to him meant keeping his own child in the dark about other consoles and companies existing. Just living in a Nintendo-only house. Not sure how he planned to accomplish that, but it makes me glad that goons don't tend to reproduce. It's probably been 10 years since I was on SA and that guy is probably still living at home and playing his Switch 2 right now.
