It does though sure there are still more than enough brainless consoomer but you have to take care of your customers. Youtube videos are literally unpaid advertisement, I guess it depends on the game.
Nintendo games basically sell themselves these days they don't need the extra advertisements. Also by letting a bunch of random people use your IPs to make videos you risk one of them being a complete freak who ends up getting arrested or something which in turns hurts Nintendo's family friendly image. Remember Nintendo is Japanese and they value public image a lot over there.

Yes they do but the biggest issue with copyright or rather how Nintendo does it, are mods. The PC-games-scene got only so big because of mods or rather the community effort to fix / improve games. At the end of the day they will protect their reputation in Japan but lose on the world market.

Hey, remember how Nintendo (in the 1960's) ran 'love hotels'? Or how, when the NES was big, they basically bullied developers into ordering a minimum amount of cartages while limiting how many games they could publish, likely putting a number of people out of work. But It's Okay When Nintendo Does It™ because Nintendo saved gaming after the "crash", even though it was only console gaming in America and despite Atari selling the 2600 until the 1990's.

It's not an image, it's a front. Kids these says don't care about the Mario. They care about Minecraft, Fortnite, and AMOGUS.

Let me ask you an question, if you owned the rights of an highly anticipated film and haven't finished paying off your loans from filming it. You found out that people have been posting the entirety of it on YouTube right after it hits theaters and sales are plummeting because people are watching it for free.

How do you recoup your losses?

How to say Morbius without actually saying it.

So did Nintendo take down your gaming YouTube channel or what.

Surprise surprise. The gaming industry isn't as nice as it seems even way back then.

In other news, the sky is blue.

Those are still cleaner than at their founding, where they were the preferred playing card company of the Yakuza.

Just for info, Nintendo is entirely fine with doujinshi (the nippon term for fanzine or self-published comic) making use of their own IPs, and even publishing games making blatant inspirations, like Touhou Shoujo, within their own platform.

Also the whole 'family-friendly' thing never truly rang true on the japanese soil. Even more so with the Switch, which is also the first Nintendo console that saw CERO Z-rated (18+) game releases in Japan. In fact, Nintendo is now the new "old Playstation" that regroups many different types of user audiences with its huge & diverse library of games.

I'm getting the impression there are people (especially the fanboys) who still have a flawed vision of Nintendo, perpetuated by the american/european branches in the past.
Which also explain why we get autists complaining about japanese-focused IPs like Xenoblade 3 & Kirby or the inclusion of "anime" characters in Smash.

Nintendo hasn't been completely family friendly since the GameCube when we got the Capcom 5 (4 lol) and titles like Eternal Darkness.

Even the Wii had multiple survival horror titles and M-rated titles like Oneechanbara and Disaster Day of Crisis (though that was EU only).

How do you expect this to qualify as free advertising for something that people are already aware of?

One minute in and this is awful. Anything that might be good about this romhack is ruined by the faggot playing it. LPs should have stayed as a text-only format, a collection of very intoxicated goons playing Sonic or a show with JonTron as a sidekick.

Do dumb niggers dont understand that xeno 3 and kirby are developed by external developers?
Just because they help nintendo once a in a while doesnt mean they are owned by them, hell, hal lab has released a few multiplatform games

Hey, I just snagged the first longplay that I could find of that mod. Great to know that the guy filming it is your typical LPer

For what it is worth, I am pretty sure that the copyright for Kirby is owned jointly by both HAL and Nintendo. But your point is well-taken about HAL being its own entity, despite their very strong business and personnel ties with Nintendo.
