If anything, I would take Persona 1 than the modern ones on the Switch. It would be funny to see how "Persona fans" respond to how their "favorite game" game started out. Plus, there will be more availability for it now, rather than it being confined to the PSP and if I recall, PS1, as well as other emulators.
You should try out other SMT games. The library is vast, and as a lorehound, the references to fiction within the titles does well for research/learning something new.

I've been wanting to, but JRPGs in general are my gaming white whale, there's so many I want to play but they're such timesinks.
The Switch port of SMTIII and the upcoming V may be a good opportunity for me.

First the girlfriend, now random people online. RelaxAlax just cannot catch a break.
Thought I would share for discussion as he is a major part of the Nintendo/Smash community. Apparently he said insensitive things in the past and is now being canceled by the gender society. He also has an obsessive fan ruining his Discord.
As for the previously mentioned girlfriend, just to catch you guys up.
Essentially, crazy ex is claiming rape. They were both drunk and consented, but since being under the influence counts as rape in Canada, I guess she can claim it? It is unfair when both were though. She is also demanding things be returned and for him to admit to many false allegations.

Should also mention how when the video came out, the ex privated her Twitter and is deleting any and all comments asking her if she had any more details on what happened.
This seems like a pretty open and shut case of a crazy ex rallying a bunch of #metoo people to her side for good girl points in order to destroy him. The rest just feels like extra clean-up work against those people to clear the air before any worse allegations became public, because girlfriend rape allegations aside, none of what happened in the second video was ever known about before now.

Yeah, thanks for the reminder. I remember some trying to justify it as she is avoiding harassment from the fanbase of a big YouTuber, but it is a flimsy excuse. I just wonder if she was that Asian girl from the time Alax went to a Nintendo showcase? Anyone remember that video?

God I can only hope that Atlus decides to take full advantage of the switch being a jrpg machine because it seems Squeenix is still pretty slow on trotting out rereleases of their older stuff. If they just ported their library of classic jrpgs, it'd be moneyyyyy.

Speaking of Atlus, I wouldn't mind a big boy console version of Etrian Odyssey. That is a series that needs to make the jump to consoles and get some new life injected into it.

I don't know a gaming company or console with a good fanbase. Maybe pc fans and some boomer stuff here and there but those are by their nature small slices of gamerdom. So most of the gamer subculture is bad and the good parts are largely good in comparison.

Square already ported a ton of their older RPGs to the switch.
None of them are available in physical form in America, you have to import. Live-A-Live is the most recent that's coming but that's coming to all platforms.

I want it to happen, tho'. I like both SMT and Persona, but the thought of the SMT only fanboys reaction to finding out that SMT went woke first would be glorious.

Reading through the replies, I will say this:
1) I’ve never played any of the Persona games, even when they were peaking with popularity. Though, I did recently check out a Shin Megami Tensei history-like video as how the game was made, and it made me interested to play Nocturne more than Persona.
2) I’ve never owned any Fire Emblem games and I knew the series was unique, but like Zelda and (to an extent) SMT, I sometimes don’t know where to start. I could do the research and pick the most popular one to play, but I’d feel like I’m cheating myself into not checking out the story of how the game came to be known as Fire Emblem.
3) Playing Nintendo almost the majority of my life, it’s been nothing but a mix of Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Mario Party, Donkey Kong and old Sonic. I guess I wasn’t “hip” enough to play the likes of RE, Luigi’s Mansion, Wind Waker, the original Animal Crossing or Banjo Kazooie.
4) Every fanbase in video game history have always had people go to extreme lengths to outdo actual sports who think they know more about the games than the actual creators that invented and created the games in the first place.
Overall, I wouldn’t shame people for playing diverse titles like Hyrule Warriors, Xenoblade Chronicles, Astral Chain, Bayonetta and the like. If anything, the last year or so made me want to play the titles that Nintendo is known for, but the majority of their fanbase would never play. If I can play Mario and Sonic Olympics games, and fast forward to myself playing No More Heroes because I love the soundtrack, then why should most people care about why Smash is more popular than the game that no one else would play in the first place?
Again, long rant, but just to be clear: all Nintendo fans on social media do not speak for the majority of Nintendo’s gaming fanbase.
