I remember being somewhat envious of Switch owners at the time because Octopath Traveler looked good and was getting rave reviews.

Then it came to Steam, I tried it, and was bored out of my mind after about five hours. Everything about it (save for the visuals) was so incredibly bland. It is astounding how fast reception of the game turned once it went multiplatform.

I just bought it because I wanted a good rpg on the switch. that I wouldn't have to wade through the cancers of reddit to find, or that wasn't some indie wokeshit game I've never heard of and would hate the story of.

I did not get that.

I feel the visuals were quite underwhelming too, I liked the sprite art but the environments felt bland, lacking distinct landmarks and there wasn't much color variation besides brown, gray, black, and the few snow areas which were white. Probably would work better with less bloom too. I'd love to see the style attempted again by a better team.

I liked both FFX and Octopath Traveller. :/

However, I am a full-on JRPGstan and I make no apologies for it.

The thing that makes me laugh the most though is that Persona 5 has not come to the Switch and people are still whining about it. Then Soul Hackers 2 got announced....not for Switch but Xbox was included.

I could not stop laughing.

Well I own the DQ 123 pack on Switch, all of the DS/3DS releases, and DQ 11 on PS4.
I own Ys Origins, Oath of Felghana and Ys VII.

I think I have my bases mostly covered, though I still need to get a copy of Ys I & II. and Ys IV.

Speaking of DQ, how good are the newer games? Because the fifth one was about as great as you'd expect, but I heard that Square has dumbed down the games by removing random encounters.

I really enjoyed XI and its nice seeing enemies on the map. Battle wise is still traditional.
