My apologies if a similar thread has been already posted somewhere in General Discussion. As we all know, however, all the important high-brow talk is in the Supporters board - therefore, only it matters when it comes to threads like this.

Anyway:

more to come.

  • :jacewow: Surprisingly, not @secret watcher! "Surprisingly" not because he's some sort of sperg, but because it's something you'd expect secret watcher to do.

This thread is redundant because everybody who hides their profile is a stupid faggot.

The purpose of the feature is to reduce infighting.
...Okay, question: wouldn't actually disabling profile posts (as opposed to that option just disabling replies to them) on a user's profile achieve the same result - or, better yet, granting a user the ability to remove profile comments left on their wall? Because otherwise, you're still able to both manually search for AND go to their recent posts via username click.

Recent example: @rando[Numbers]. If the man isn't busy acting like being a dipshit retard in threads, he's shitting up otherwise level-headed users' walls and spamming stickers on their recent posts. Would, then, it be better if the people who he has beef with hid their profiles? Probably not.

Stop being gay.
Never!!

Fair enough, though users who are provoking conflict with others or engage in "harassment/infighting" on other's pages while also hiding their pages are understandably disliked. User profiles are a great way of telling you about a certain user. If they have a lot of positive or negative comments it lets you know if you can have faith in their posts. Hiding profiles also ended up hiding a lot of content that gets posted to the forum. Some historical user like @CatParty had toggled this feature before leaving the forum and you cannot see their page anymore. If a user goes inactive and their name no longer auto fills, would it be possible to flag their profile so it is unhidden similarly to if a user gets banned?

:stress: That guy's not even annoying! The hell.

...Which reminds me: some people may have toggled it on while the feature didn't work and just left it on after learning it does, in fact, not work, which leads us to users who are well-liked being walled off and having to be asked to un-private their profiles (which in itself is a gamble).

I've suggested a fix for this before:
I've been thinking that one final element to round out people's troubles with private profiles is that, if you have your profile set to private and you log off/leave the site then your profile privacy should be reverted to everyone or at least members only after a specific amount of time. I'm thinking that the amount of time should be 6 months since that's the amount of time needed to get access to the Inner Circle. If that time is applied for an active user, it's only fair that it should apply to inactive users.

@Null tagging because I think this could end the last main gripe with profile privacy and also because if I create a thread on this then there's gonna be people chimping out of profile privacy.

This is also mainly for oldfags who had their profile set to private and never came back. The most notable example is @CatParty. It's just annoying to try to see profiles of people who haven't been here in years and are unlikely to because they're private and aren't gonna unprivate it because they left.
PLEASE JOOSH!!! If this gets fixed, I will never complain about private profiles again outside of joking remarks.

this would require additional coooooding, i believe - and nvll repeatedly said he is not going to fix xenforo's shit

The infighting solution is blocking, isn't it?
that wasn't effective.
yes, I have manually edited the database to force people who are unable to regulate their emotions to ignore HHH.
:story: i swear to god that's just the result that came up for "user:Null" "manually" "ignore" but wouldn't you fucking know it, Ness!

why would you beg to shitpost on these profiles when you could just post racial slurs on mine? Kinda gay tbh.

That's funny because every time I come across a private profile they get put on my "GAY RETARD SHITSKIN LIST" and they're all scheduled to get a personalized nigger profile post when XenForo shits the bed and breaks private profiles while you cooooode.

The day of niggering is nigh.
