It really isn't but some people really do make a huge thing out of doing something normal. I was eating that shit well before I even knew the word "charcuterie."

My current daily carry, soppresata, calabrese salami, toasted sliced demi-baguette.

Picked up once people realized they could put meat and cheese on a plate themselves for less just like the chain wine bar places that got trendy a few years back were selling them as $25 snack plates. The up side to this at least is more places selling a broader variety of meats and cheeses for this stupid trend meaning I don't have to do as much hunting(or paying absurd prices online) for more interesting cheeses. With that people have decided to treat it like a craft project, because "aesthetic" leading to shit like this and using it as the sole reason to have a "party" at times

So yeah, that's how it has become a personality add-on. Boring people that have nothing else interesting going on chasing a silly trend and going about it in a way that comes off as absurd as possible. 30 years ago this would have been bored housewives doing random "floral" arrangements with fake flowers, 20 years ago it would have been "tablescapes", now it's this.

I am honestly seriously tired of hipsters ruining shit I always did because they finally figured out you could do it and think they invented it. Oh and they always drive up the price when they do it. Fuck you all.

I just saw on a news report tin fish is now going up in prices because of Hipster Assholes doing videos about it. I used to get my mum sardines in mustard or oil or tomato sauce because she liked it, and it was cheap. God rest her soul if the old woman was still alive it would be costing me an arm and a leg.

I have noticed that in the last few years every single brand of potato chips has a acquired a dill pickle flavor, but most of them are super vinegary which really is too bad since the flavor is good with less acid blowing out your buds.
Now the fried dill pickle flavors, those seem to be the shit since they mute the acid a bit.

Dill pickle chips have been a canadian thing for a long, long time. They tend to be alot milder here. I'd recommend the old dutch brand for a milder version. On the other hand their salt and vinegar flavor will damn near mummify your tongue with how much flavoring is in those

Also if anybody hasn't tried roast chicken flavored chips they're missing out

candied corn starch (mixed with sugar to speed up the beetus, watch out for the limited edition pepsi and malt liquor flavored versions)
corn starch singles (mini packs of corn starch for your purse snacking needs)
kids corn starch singles (mini gushers package sized packs of cornstarch pressed into fun shapes and flavored with grape and lime kool aid, for the discerning section 8 mom to include in her kids school lunch. Who am I kidding - to include AS their kids school lunch)

That'll drive the price up to $20 for a small box and crash the hoodrat and section 8 cornstarch market overnight
 
they'll just steal the cornstarch, or keep buying it on ebt/shell out the money because they're not using it to purchase anything worthwhile

EDIT: Everyone was all like yo pickle flavored this pickle flavored that, and wouldn't you know it, I saw a bag of pickle flavored pistachios, so I bought some to see what was up.

First off, shelled pistachios are fucking retarded, that's half the fun for twice the cost... -20 points out of a hundred.

They smelled vaguely pickleish, so +5 points I guess?

They taste..... like pistachios, with a vague hint of dill coating. Like it's not lying it's what it says on the tin, pickle flavored pistachios, and it sort of works.

Then again, the tangy pickle/dill flavor sort of clashes with the sweet/earthy/rich flavor of the pistachios, and end up muting them both. I kind of wish I'd just bought regular pistachios. -10 points.

75 out of 100, they're fine but like.... just get regular pistachios, they're better by every metric.

shelled nuts always taste better than unshelled because they're fresher and cook/salt more evenly, and they're crunchier too
buy a bag of both and you'll see the difference
they usually don't even cost as much as shelled ones
