What's the chicken/egg situation with nice guys being weebs, I wonder? Are they influenced to become nice guys by the shit they watch, or are they already at least proto-nice guys and end up liking the stuff that validates their ideology?
It's probably the second one, I feel males of a certain age are very likely to delve into niceguydom and it's also an age that intersects with the age quite a few of them become weebs

Likely the second one because only a small child or an autist would base their worldview on a show

Every man, at some point in his life, comes to a fork in the road.

One road leads to the hope and possibility of a woman's love and affection.
The other road leads to anime.

I wouldn't say it's one leading into the other. It's the same root cause for both. They were really socially awkward and lacked self confidence growing up, which led to them developing the complex that caused them to become nice guys, and also caused them to retreat into the escapism of anime.

There are a couple of reasons these guys are far more prevalent now than in the days of yesteryear. The workforce has mostly moved to jobs that require more social skills making them less employable and financially solvent, less women are looking to get married or get into a relationship, and there's an endless flood of escapism for them to hide in instead of facing their problems leading to them not kicking their own asses and growing some balls to fix their problems.

The option of them accepting their lower status and settling for a fat or ugly chick is also a route they refuse to take because porn has desensitized them to the point where they cannot get sexually aroused to such women.

I think anime (and vidya) are also huge timesucks that keep guys from actually developing interesting hobbies.

Like sure, we all enjoy a few time-wasters every now or then, but watching anime usually does nothing to add to your overall value as a human being.

Seems like it’s kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy, where slightly awkward guys find anime, and consume that instead of going out in the world and experiencing shit, only making them more awkward.

Also, anime ain’t a realistic portrayal of women. If that’s your main exposure, you’re probably getting the wrong ideas.

I would also add the ubiquity of online communication to helping build up the mess. Nice guys and incels can now easily find each other and validate their shitty behavior and attitudes.

It's not just anime, there were a ton of comedies like that in the late 90s early 2000s.
"Slackers" is a perfect example. The character of "Cool Ethan" is a creeper and a weirdo who eventually manipulates his crush and his best friend who dates his crush, destroying their relationship so he can get the girl. The problem is you're not supposed to sympathize with him.

Stop me if someone shot this theory down already, but it seems to me these people as just trying to covered up for the fact that they're broke.

Women aren't impressed with X thing I try? No, asshole. You're just broke. Nobody wants a bum. I'm a dude and even if a hot chick wandered up to me right now and we hit it off but she said at the end "Btw I literally have no money" I'd dump her ass in a second. Its not about vanity; people have their own shit to worry about.

It isn't about being broke and that isn't usually a big deal (at the start) of relationships and you frequently find girls who date "fixer uppers". It's mainly about honesty - it's pretty easy to tell when people are lying to you and when people lie to you it sets of all kinds of red flags/alarms about that person. Red Flags are a gigantic turnoff and Red Flags about someone's personality are the biggest red flags because they're the least likely to change.

To your example, being broke isn't permanent - and they might have a reason to be broke. But being a manipulative asshole? There's really not a good reason for it and it's a bad look for a potiental partner.

Wasn't that character the villain though? I think Nekromantic is referring more to characters like Tenchi or Michael Cera in Superbad. Characters who are protagonists and are actually nice, but also extremely passive and women want to jump their bones regardless. Your typical "nice guy" isn't actually as nice as those guys but they are as passive, which they think is the same thing.

Stonetoss isn’t even trying to make jokes anymore, he’s just regurgitating incel talking points.

The financial status of the prospective partner becomes more important as time progresses, but for younger folks it's not much of an issue.

What I mean by this is, a woman in her late 20s who is looking to settle down and start a family after college, getting a decent job, etc. isn't going to want a guy who still works at McDonald's and has no desire to at least move up in the ranks there or get a better job. Ideally, you want to be able to give your kid $20 for his school field trip without it breaking the bank. That's not being a gold digger or only caring about money. Money doesn't buy happiness but it sure helps out a lot and is important in the long run.

Call me a crazy prude but I dare say that porn has brought more harm to society than it has good.

To be fair, Ted Bundy was pretty popular with certain girls. But those are the kinds of girls you wouldn't want to date anyway. Either because they're horny teenagers or messed up in the head. So what does it even matter? Quit worrying about the serial killer fangirls and move on.

Oh wait, that would mean working on self-improvement and not feeling sorry for yourself 24/7.

"Enjoy masturbating forever."

Forget pulling pints for a living, this charming fellow was born for a career at the local movie theater. It might be best for him to change his name to Oedipus first though.

What I'm saying is that he projects like a motherfucker.

This guy: "He seems like a dick and he's just using her"

Same guy: "How do I retrieve this girl-shaped object which belongs to me because I saw it first?"
