New Vegas - Greatest game of all time ?

Despite the fact that even to this day the game is still a buggy/unfinished mess with loads of cut content ( 18 month dev cycle and all that ), many would still regard it as the greatest game of all time and it's primarily for these reasons :

- You can literally kill any NPC in the game (none of that unkillable NPCs crap here).

- You can side with one of 4 different factions for the ending , each of them having their own distinct political ideologies and plans to govern the Mojave .

- All the important main quests and side quests give you multiple options on how to complete them .

- You can choose which of the minor factions you want to Ally with or exterminate, the choice is entirely up to you.

- Gameplay is a step up from Fallout 3 and in many ways actually aged better than Fallout 4.


- The DLC Expansions are all very high quality and the way that they connected with each other was something truly incredible that hadn't been seen before.

I personally rate this game a 9.5 out of 10, despite a few bugs and performance issues that still linger on to this day especially in the PC port (and a few Proto-Woke elements that Obsidian subtlety inserted into the game ) overall the game is unquestionably a masterpiece.

New Vegas is ok. Burdened by bad companion writing, unfinished faction questlines, and enough railroading that taking that "you can kill all NPCS!!!!!!!" boast at face value just means a lot of failed quests. Gunplay is still incredibly clunky and is hampered by being an RPG with FPS mechanics tacked on, so no matter how much strength you have you can't use Medicine Stick effectively because you don't have 100 guns, never mind that you can use the lower-caliber lever-action guns just fine. Fallout 4 absolutely mogs New Vegas on gameplay alone and even it's relatively mediocre. Dead Money is a miserable slogfest, the map for Honest Hearts sucks, and Old World Blues is "LE REDDIT XD: THE DLC". Survival mode was underbaked. The map is tiny.

It's kinda fun and nostalgic at times but there's a reason so many troons like it.

The Followers of the Apocalypse and the Boomers cannot be exterminated entirely and certain alliances are hardcoded behind reputation gates

I would consider the Independent Ending to be the Anarchist ending , infact if you download the Post Game Ending mod ( cut content from the original game ) from Nexus you'll see exactly what happens to Vegas after total Independence ( Riots, Chaos , Securitrons wiping out any resistance to the Couriers/Yes Man's new order .

The Followers can be completely wiped out from the Vegas region, Old Mormon Fort is taken over by Junkies. If you kill the Boomers leadership the surviving Boomers leave Nellis and the area becomes a hotspot for Scavengers to loot.

The way that New Vegas DLCs connected with each other was truly special. For example Father Elijah only goes to the Sierra Madre because he was convinced by Ulysses to do so when they both met in the Big Empty. Joshua was expecting a Courier to come after him but not The Courier, he was expecting Ulysses.

Honestly I've barely ever used this site in the last two years, I decided a few days ago to become a more active member since i occasionally enjoy listening to Josh's MATI podcast. The good thing about Proto-Woke games like New Vegas is that they aren't too preachy or try to force the propaganda down your throat, you can enjoy the entire game without ever recruiting Arcade or Veronica ( hell even if you recruit them unless you ask them personal questions you will never know that they are actually LGBT ).
