Seems like there's an attempt to start fear mongering for a new variant. It's the usual spiel; more contagious etc. Although this quote is interesting to note:

Is the 'Kraken' variant more dangerous?

For now, it doesn't seem to be.

The WHO is still assessing XBB.1.5 but notes that it doesn't have any mutations that make people sicker than the other variants.

"It's certainly something to keep an eye on, especially for those who are particularly vulnerable," [Leslie Waller, an epidemiologist with the Metro Public Health Department.] said. "But, in terms of worry and panic, I don't think that's particularly warranted at this time. There's not currently any indication that it makes people sicker."

More contagious, but less dangerous? Whatever.

I really want to meet people who still care about this. Even the most addled hypochondriac in my social circle stopped caring after Omicron.
There must be a very tiny community of insane people who are still wearing masks and reading news like this with utter certainty, but even in as uber-pozzed a neighborhood as I live in, I haven't seen it. Probably because they literally never leave their house.

I like how they ran out of intimidating Greek letters so they're just pulling names out of myth.

Myth, huh, almost like...

There is a dark comedic irony to this name. Fuck you science.

My mother in law still carries on about it. Last time I saw her she was talking about how there's a million cases in the UK at the moment... I don't know if that's actually true, but I also don't care enough to look it up. She's also had 2 boosters, and has had covid twice so far, but still hassles me about the Vax.
I think she just watches (and believes) the news too much. Last time I saw her she also told me that my gas stove would be outlawed soon, which seems to come from one news source.

I can't wait for them to run out of ideas for names, then maybe we can finally have one called "Tranny Dick".

"Health professionals warn of the threat of Tranny Dick."

"Tranny Dick is highly infectious."

"We need to close the schools to prevent juvenile exposure to Tranny Dick."

So, how long before they run out of ideas for names and start pulling random ones from the internet? I look forward to hearing about the sonichu variant of covid

I thought the new one was call (DUH DIH DIHHHHHHHH ) ORTHUS or something. I can’t keep up.
They must have serious brainstorming sessions. No WORSE than kraken! Think of something Worse!

New Yorkers.
Whether it's Asians who are scared of their own shadow, illegals who comply to avoid getting any attention from the law, or White/Jewish neolibs looking to grandstand, you can find them easily in New York.
Some will tell you it's just a safety precaution from flu season, but I swear that last chink who temporarily removed their mask to ask for directions had a mask tan...

Hi, I care some still, nice to meet you. I wear my mask in grocery stores and crowds, and sanitize my cart handle. I care because I have no kids and only associate with non kid havers, and kids are spreading sickness like crazy still and I dont have the exposure to fight their snot bombs. Lol. I hate being sick. Just hate it. Ive got a minor immune system weakness. Just get sick if I think about a stuffy nosed child, I swear.

That, and I wear mask more places if I am planning on visiting my 90 year old grandparents or a nursing home in the coming weeks. Just to keep em safer hopefully, ya know?

Idc if people think I am retarded looking. But I also can understand the care about covid is just slipping away to almost a collective nothing....these continuous variant warnings are interesting I guess but gonna really wear most people down on caring at all if a new actually scary variant pops up. Like crying wolf. I wish they would stop oversaturating the news with it. We know- covid is here to stay and do what you will to protect yourself or not. No need to cheapen the pandemic warnings anymore.
