Anyone else as excited as I am about this on friday? Got word from an employee at my local Walmart that they have The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask Limited Edition New 3DS XL, so going early friday morning to get me one, as well as the game and a charger.

I am excited about the potential for Wii game ports, but the name is kinda stupid. I can imagine it causing problems with uninformed parents.

I pre-ordered one just because my 3DS is really kind of shitting out and I could stand to get a new one. Plus, I'm a sucker for the colored buttons.

It looks retarded and my red one works fine. I'm passing on it.

My Red 3DS XL is pretty roughed up and my stylus keeps falling out all the time. I'm glad to get the upgrade also because my Link Amiibo will be compatible with Smash 3DS. Also the improved CPU could be better for Smash, I find it kind of laggy. And I really want to use the face tracking 3D, the 3D looks awesome in Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Smash, but finding the sweet spot is annoying.

Why is no one in the U.S. considered by their marketing to be good enough for the standard size New Nintendo 3DS?

Better question, why isn't the New XL getting interchangeable face plates?

I'm on the fence about getting one. I'd like a new XL to play Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, but it's hard to justify buying another 3DS right now. I already have 2, my old launch model still works fine and I got an XL in Japan last year so I can play import weeb shit. Might go for it if I can find a sensible price somewhere.

I play a lot of virtual console games, so I'm in no rush to upgrade.

Got mine ordered - hopefully will show up Saturday. I just got the normal black one.

I was able to preorder the Majora's Mask special edition game from Amazon last month though. Pretty stoked for that!

Preordered mine last week along with Majora's Mask. My old ambassador program 3DS has issues with the top screen's backlight going out, so I'd been meaning to upgrade for a while anyway. I'm sad that the white one didn't make it to the US though. Those solid color buttons :c

I second that opinion about the stupid name, you'd think they would have learned their lesson with the wiiu, the 3dsi would have been a better name for Christ's sake

I'm considering it.

My girlfriend is interested in gaming and I've been looking at a portable we can hop on and play together though the internet with.
The thing that bothers me about Nintendo consoles and the reason I've not taken the plunge is because Nintendo seems to hate people having friends and playing together.

I'm yet to find a game that we'd both enjoy that supports internet multiplayer, Pokemon X/Y came close but reading the multiplayer review it all seems so very segregated still. It feels like Nintendo are saying "You do your thing, she can do hers, but you can show each other your things sometimes". It feels like Nintendo just want you to be 2 neighbors who play in their own back yards by themselves but occasionally trade toys and talk over the fence. I know there are exceptions, some games have their own servers that are maintained by their companies etc but I can't shake the feeling that Nintendo in their 3 decade ongoing quest to be a family fun™ company are making their audience miss out. Maybe it's for fear that edgy little shits will spoil the fun for younger audiences, maybe it's because hosting servers for MMO/Co-op games is an expensive venture and don't want to start charging people for the fun, but it always makes me think twice even when I see a console going for a great price.

Then again she loves Smash Bros/Mario Kart and that apparently has decent online multiplayer, maybe sometime later in the year I'll revisit the idea, I just wish we could play together instead of just against each other for 10 minutes at a time. If her performance at Melee on her gamecube is any indication I can see myself getting stomped to shit every time I crack the lid.

Of course the alternative is a PS Vita. but that has its own headaches.

Have you ever thought about repairing the backlight? You can buy one for about $25 if you're comfortable taking apart your gear. You could even order a new button set too if you want those funky buttons. Though I can certainly understand why anyone would be hesitant. I've been meaning to repair my phones screen for about a month but won't because I'm afraid of the cracked glass shattering when I pull the pane out with a suction pad, nobody wants to spend a day picking bits of glass out of their hands or fingernails. I don't know what it is about repairing/modifying portable devices but it feels like the margin for error is much smaller and the process 10x more delicate.

Still if it's fucked as it is there's no harm in trying, hell if you took it to a repair shop and asked nicely they'd probably fit the new buttons free.

Check out Fantasy Life for the 3ds - it's like chibi Skyrim jr. but with multiplayer. You can explore dungeons and the overworld with other players.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf has nice multiplayer but it could be better if they added voice chat.
