Netflix's "Cuties" - The Preteen Sexual Objectification Equivalent of "Funny Games"

This is what I've been saying. I think a movie like this COULD have worked as intended if they did this instead:
  • If the focus wasn't the girls themselves, but the sleazy, corrupt producers and talent agents of these child exploitation pageants
    • The film should have had a main antagonist who was a stereotypical Harvey Weinstein type who's seen sexually abusing the girls in the film, to illustrate how bad pedophilia is and how minors are corrupted in the entertainment industry. Unfortunately (((we all know why a movie like that would never get made)))
  • The marketing and poster art should have been dark and sad, similar to maybe the anti-Seaworld documentary Blackfish. Maybe have the poster design of a girl in a tutu on the ground crying, rather than using the Netflix design where it tries to look like some fun teen romp like Glee or High School Musical
  • Instead of using real little girls, they could have gotten little people or adults who appear younger than their real ages. Remember pornstar Lupe Fuentes? She was a former adult film star who was a legal adult, but had the body and voice of a 13-year old girl. I understand Cuties was an indie film with a limited budget, but surely the producers could have gotten 18+ actresses who are just really short and have high-pitched voices. And if you think I'm still talking out of my ass and that it's impossible for adults to believably play the roles of teenagers in movies, I have three words for you: Michael J. Fox.
If they followed my aforementioned suggestions, the movie could have been like American History X.

I know I'm late, but here's Leafy Clone Optimus's take:

People like Kitty Jung could have been used, but that's still kinda creepy if the person doesn't know that she's over 18. My real issue is the perverted cameraman doing those butt shots while the girls girating and twerk and everyone just going along with it for some reason, and that scene where they do it in front of a couple of guards. They didn't look at this and think that this was an issue?

They also could have taken the time to, you know, make the movie not boring?

Either way, they could have taken the route the film Thirteen went. That was much more tame than whatever the hell they were doing here.

"Gorgeously shot in hot and cold colors by Yann Maritaud (Cuties), who contrasts Lyz’s blazing emotions with the frozen mountaintop exteriors, the photography keeps us forever glued to the burgeoning champion’s side both indoors and out."

"The issue of whether Fred is breaking the law by sleeping with his student never comes up because Lyz is 15, which is the current age for legal consent in France."

This sounds similar to a British film, Scarborough.

Except in that one, the nude scenes involve the then 26 year old Jessica Barden.

Another film with adult content that deals with social issues better is Fish Tank. From my memory it clearly created the fucked up atmosphere of the main characters environment and the actress in the film was legal age but could pass as the age of the character she was portraying.

Michael Fassbender was great in that.

The clip posted is a clip of them dancing! But the movie is made up of around two hours of scenes, most of which people keep overlooking in favor of focusing solely on the most “scandalous” parts, so they can whine about them online and get Likes. Ironically, these people are basically doing one of the things the movies tries to warn against. And what of the people posting these pics and clips out of context, exploiting these kids in an effort to make a movie they feel is wrong seem like it’s basically porn? It’s a movie about a group of girls trying to deal with being kids when they want to be adults. This is stuff that kids go through in real life, and turning a blind eye to it helps no one, least of all said kids,
Bruh, stop defending CP.

people like you deserve the death penalty

A movie about the making of Cuties would be 100x more interesting than Cuties itself. The clueless woke WOC director pitching what she imagines will be an important, serious film. The executives discussing the appeal of such a movie and their legal liability for producing it. The choreographer working on the dance moves, dressed in oversized little girl clothes, twerking and gyrating to "Au revoir les chevaux." Parents pushing their hesitant children into doing increasingly uncomfortable things.
