I imagine that if people knew it well enough it would have some LOLcows.
Basically, you set a country up on some random factors and deal with issues and then they have the "World Assembly" which I don't care for.
I get addicted to this and run DOZENS of countries. The best (or weirdest?) part is when I make a "region", put a bunch of my nations in it, forget about it for six months, and other random players like the name or the theme and it never goes away.
Here are my weird regions:

"Why Tea" "Snowball Kingdom" and "Animal School" attracted random other players probably looking to "card farm" or whatever so they are years old.
my main country
my guess as to what Tomi Lahren would do if she was allowed to run a country somehow
Anyway, this probably deserves all the Autistic Ratings but if you like politics you should try it out.
You can get some obscure rankings like "Libertarian Police State" or somehow make a capitalist socialist country that is fiscally conservative with a planned economy but also basically a capitalist
https://www.nationstates.net/nation=technochick this is probably the only nation that has a fiscally conservative ranking with socialism... or very rare at least. It started out very right-wing until I let the AI take over.
A few things I noticed:
Flat taxes do not always mean wealth gaps. There can be other things causing wealth gaps or income equality.
Commies usually have higher employment rates, the lowest employment rate are capitalist countries with low economic freedom.
