whatever the fuck "Aura Farming" and "Power scaling"
Believing in powerscaling is probably the easiest way to divide an intelligent from smart.

A powerscaler will look at Roshi destroying the moon with the Kamehameha during the first run of dragonball and go "You see, roshi's power is moon-tier because he can destroy a moon, which automatically makes Piccolo and Goku planetoid-tier, which is not to be confused with planet-tier because, according to Freezer's dad in a filler scene, Earth is a small planet, additionally, the universe of Dragonball is several units larger than the real one so...", then will proceed to use all of his braincells and studies in physics to calculate the time it took for the beam to travel and reach/destroy the moon and fully define how many petaton of gunpower equates to Roshi's blast.
A smart person will look at the scene, comment with "That was a funny gag" and be done with it.

Its even more hilarious because everytime I see a powerscaler comparing feats, I always think of that scene in DBZ where Imperfect Cells tells Super Vegeta how he was killed in the future by Android 17, which he absorbed, making himself automatically stronger than his opponent, its literal nigger behaviour.

Not even. He was in a pool of memory goo that basically everyone gaslit him into thinking he liked Hinata. It's not like he fell in love with Hinata naturally over time. In The Last, Hinata is insufferable. She never gets any other attention to repair that reputation.
Basically what I said. Memory goo helped him realize he is in love. Honestly, we spend so much time not giving Naruhina development that the movie had to pull shit like that. The occasional "Naruto noticed how beautiful Hinata is and started blushing" moments would have been better. Instead, Naruto introduced Sakura as his GF to his father in an attempt to make a joke. Hope it was a real kneeslaper as that means that Minato never actually met his daughter-in-law. This is what Neji got staked for. You know what would be funny? If Minato got Edo Tensei-ed again and thought Naruto married Sakura. That would be a hoot.

I mean technically you could just make another Zetsu or two and grave rob his mom and dad at any time to let them meet their grandchildren. I mean, I'm sure you could just say Orochimaru stole Neji's corpse for the Byakugan and still has samples to revive Neji too. I mean if Kabuto can revive old Hokage's, then decomposition doesn't matter. Death is pretty irrelevant. The Edo Tensei could be used for any reason at all honestly. Since you can just grow White Zetsus, there really isn't a reason just not revive these dead characters every now and again for family events. I mean heck, they grew Sasuke and Naruto new Zetsu arms, I see no reason they couldn't just grow new Zetsus. It couldn't be that complicated. Death in the Narutoverse is about as meaningless as it is in Dragonball.

Could happen. Won't be nearly as impactful though. Imagine if Minato saw Naruto and Hinata hold hands. That would have been great. Kishimoto knew his endgame and did nearly nothing for it. Have them spend more time together after her love confession during the battle with Pain. That would have been a good start.

Speaking of which I never did chapter 30.

I had a full review written out but it got deleted. The chapter opens with Himawari firing a tailed beast bomb IN THE MIDDLE OF THE VILLAGE at a Mamushi clones. They manage to divert the explosion though. Shikadai rightfully chastises her for nearly vaporizing an entire street of the village and everyone in it. He says that she can't afford to make mistakes like this because there's no taking it back once you do. I've touched on it before, but Ikemoto loves to do this literary irony thing. I think it helps him give structure to the monthly chapter formats and helps him write. I could take it or leave it as while it gives some events a bit more weight, it makes chapters relatively predictable.

Shikamaru is being summoned for the interrogation and has to go. He leaves the operation in Inojins hands. Outside, things aren't going so hot. The numbers are starting to wear them down. Inojin is told by Koji to turn off the communication Jutsu for now and focus on the interrogation. Unfortunately it's not going well for Shikamaru either. Kobu already has him pinned dead to rights and this interrogation is more of a formality. However, Koji has a backup plan. He has Inojin use the mind transfer jutsu on Kobu.

Clever move, Shikamaru immediately realizes what happened. As Kobu, Inojin accidentally calls Sai dad, blowing his cover and makes an excuse to leave. Sai demands to know what Shikamaru has his son involved in. Koji has Inojin bring Kobu to the roof. He tells Inojin that in order to keep Shikamaru as Hokage, he has to KILL KOBU. Much to Inojin's horror. To make matters worse, Mamushi shows up.

Koji is retarded.

Alright. That's it. We're going to have an autistic rant to end all autistic rants.

WHAT THE FLYING FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU!?!? OF ALL THE RECKLESS, SHORT SIGHTED STUNTS YOU COULD'VE PULLED, THIS IS WHAT YOU GO WITH?! FOR A GUY WITH FUCKING FUTURE SIGHT, YOU SEEM TO NOT BE ABLE TO SEE TWO STEPS AHEAD. HOLY MOTHER OF JESUS CHRIST.

Okay, let's say Inojin kills Kobu. Which he won't, but still hypothetically let's say it happens. If I am the Fire Lord and I am considering ABOLISHING THE VILLAGE SYSTEM, and I send my right hand man and HE DIES in your care while investigating the HOKAGE. What on earth do you think I'm going to do next? I'm immediately cutting off funding if not outright waging all out war and destroying the Hidden Leaf. You either send the message to me that you're bad at your jobs and you should be abolished or you're malicious and now trying to usurp power from me. Either way, I destroy you and stop supporting you. There is no scenario where killing Kobu doesn't immediately paint a target on Shikamaru's face.

Now let's say he doesn't. Inojin chokes and can't do it. KOBU ISN'T STUPID. He knows he was interrogating Shikamaru and someone tried to assassinate him using the Mind Transfer jutsu. So he immediately knows someone from the Yamanaka clan tried to assassinate him. Oh wait, he was just interrogating a certain Hokage who's attendant, lifelong friend, and teammate is A FUCKING YAMANAKA CLAN MEMBER WHO SPECIALIZES IN THE MIND TRANSFER JUTSU. Oh and ON TOP OF THAT, HER FUCKING HUSBAND WAS THE ONLY GUARD IN THE FUCKING ROOM AT THE TIME?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! THIS WAS YOUR PLAN? Forget arresting or removing Shikamaru. If I'm Kobu, I'm having the entire fucking Ino Yamanaka family and Shikamaru Nara family executed for fucking treason. Holy mother of God this was a stupid, stupid, STUPID IDEA.

I hope they have a falling out with Koji over this. This was the most stupid and reckless things anyone could've possibly have done. Yeah, the guy with fucking FUTURE SIGHT can't see two steps ahead. Holy fuck.

Now thanks to spoilers we know Boruto comes in and saves Kobu. That's probably the best case scenario in all of this and it might even work out for them. That being said, if Koji faces no consequences for this little stunt, I'm going to flip a table.

I will defend this. She just got super powers. Any kid would want to blast the enemy. Kurama lazed out on teaching her moves other than Big Boom Attack.

What I cannot defend is the forgetfulness. Right now, Himawari is a beginner in controlling her TB powers. Can you tell me what is the first technique on learns upon first learning to wield the TB chakra? The answer? Chakra Cloak V1. Why is she using TBB instead? Did Ikemoto forget that you have to crawl before you run a marathon? There was not even a point to use TBB here either. Have her use CCV1 and put too much power which then threatens to wreck a street. There was no need for ki blasts other than Ikemoto forgot he was not writing DBZ.

Good plan indeed. If only it was not botched. Honesty, if they just let the man interrogate him like normal and have Shikamaru give convincing/plausible lies only to mind-control him as the interrogation was finishing and lead him to his death at the hands of Mamushi, it would have been perfect. Just have him be paralyzed by fear and run into Mamushi's attack. None of this was necessary. A good plan that was executed badly.

That would not happen. First things first, the Hidden Villages are the military arm of the Ninja World. Abolishing them is an idea that should never be floated much less followed through without a viable alternative. Fighting age experts of espionage and manipulators of MAGIC going out of a job will be the cause of a revolution. Also, if you do built a secret replacement army, they WILL know. Why would Ikemoto even float the plotline?

Secondly, you sent your right-hand man to a place filled with assassins and he outright tells them that they will be fired if he is not pleased with what he sees. Was he sent as a sacrificial lamp? Why would he say that to the chief assassin if not to be killed and prove that Konoha went rogue? And how would Konoha going rogue help them? "Oh yeah, the assassins are no longer on our pay roll! Oh no, the assassins are no longer on our pay roll!" These ninjas, if they were to turn into banditry, would be nightmares to deal with. They can disguise themselves as anyone, mind-control, manipulate animals and the elements! Also, some can blast energy! Just think about that! Any ruler that would decide to stop paying these guys, is either off his much needed meds or secretly wants a coup!

And lastly, there is an attack in progress. If they wanted to kill him, they could let the enemy do it. The Damyo could try to blame the Hokage but if the ninja get injured as well, Shikamaru has enough of a plausible deniability. Taking this day to interrogate the Hokage was clearly Kobu's choice. Him not going to a shelter and insisting on interrogating was also his choice. If Shikamaru wants an out he can provide the interrogation tape and prove that Kobu was an idiot that did not listen. They cannot blame Shikamaru for not being able to persuade an idiot. He could have postponed the interrogation for after the attack.

Now let's say he doesn't. Inojin chokes and can't do it. KOBU ISN'T STUPID. He knows he was interrogating Shikamaru and someone tried to assassinate him using the Mind Transfer jutsu. The best solution is to have him be murdered under Boruto's watch. Mamushi is strong enough to do it and that might be the plan. Hopefully Boruto only saved him to make his death look more believable or something. Unless, Boruto decides to save even Kobu, this is the plan. Hopefully, Koji explained this to Boruto and we do not have a repeat of what happened with the Sand chick.

I hope they have a falling out with Koji over this. This was the most stupid and reckless things anyone could've possibly have done. Yeah, the guy with fucking FUTURE SIGHT can't see two steps ahead. Holy fuck.
I will give him credit and say that this path probably proves the usefulness of the ninja for now. We do not know, Koji does. As long as he does not keep people in the dark about the crucial things such as people dying, it can be justified. Butterfly effect and all. Not going to give Koji more credit than he deserves but this is reasonable. If it does not work out, we will see.

Now thanks to spoilers we know Boruto comes in and saves Kobu. That's probably the best case scenario in all of this and it might even work out for them. That being said, if Koji faces no consequences for this little stunt, I'm going to flip a table.
Honestly, he could have spend some time to warn Shikamaru about the interrogation. That is something that I cannot justify.

Chapter 31 dropped today. It's really not as meaty of a chapter and I don't really have a lot to say as there isn't too much that happens.

Ch. 31

Inojin gives Koji a firm Fuck You and tries to survive as Kobu, risking his own life to save him. Elsewhere, Eida discusses Mamushi with Daemon. Eida still doesn't want to use her Senrigan and she seems to suspect Mamushi has some unspoken intelligence gathering ability that they're not aware of. Sai also reluctantly agrees to help Shikamaru after some convincing.

Meanwhile the Mamushi clones have lost their intelligence so much that they start becoming a random violent mob. They lash out at everything, including each other. This becomes a real problem for them, prompting Sarada to use her Mangekyou to wipe out several at once with Delta's assistance. The use of her Mangekyou is very taxing though and her eyesight is starting to go. Really? It was used twice lmao.

Inojin can't keep up anymore. Kobu's body is too old and sluggish for him. Koji decided to save him and forcibly undoes the mind transfer. Koji tells him to forget Kobu, he's dead and to put comms back up. Inojin tells Shikamaru that Kobu is being attacked by Mamushi and him and Sai go to save him. Boruto shows up and keeps Kobu from being burnt alive. He dispatches the clones as well. Shikamaru takes advantage of the confusion and asserts this is why the Divine Trees need to be stopped. Kobu agrees for the time being but asserts he isn't done and the Land of Fire will take any action necessary against them. Sai takes him away to get medical attention.

Boruto, not being stupid, isn't really amused with all this. He immediately suspects Koji and asks his frog if this was just a coincidence or if he knew he would save Kobu. Koji is honest with him for once and states that he's firmly in the belief that Kobu needs to die. I'll give credit to art where credit is due, the reaction on the frog's face when it's asked this is pretty decent at displaying Koji's shame in all this. I just wish they didn't condense into this tiny sliver of a panel. However, I'm sure Boruto's relationship with Koji is further and further strained from this.

With comms back up, the team relays the situation to Shikamaru. The numbers are getting overwhelming and their chakra is starting to run low. The lowering intelligence causing them to act out is also becoming a problem. Shikamaru decides to use Eida as bait to lure them all to her and wipe them all out at once. Much to Eida's chagrin.

Honestly, he could have spend some time to warn Shikamaru about the interrogation. That is something that I cannot justify
Pretty much everything you said is what comes to pass. I find it a little clumsy to be honest, however Mamushi is what needs to be focused on right now. So I can forgive Kobu for letting off the gas pedal for the moment. Everything happened so fast, it's easy to take advantage of the confusion. I just can't help but lmao at Sarada already going blind though. Maybe it's because she has glasses and he eyesight is already not very good.

Like Daughter like Father.

Reminder : Itachi went years before he was going blind, Sauske it took 2 major fights.

Well to be honest Itachi never used his MS abilities unless it was REALLY needed. And when he used them, he usually only used one or two abilities and then let his eyes rest for months before using another one.

Meanwhile Sasuke spammed his Mangekyou and probably used it 20 times in the span of two days.
And I would guess Susanoo makes you go blind the fastest out of the various abilities, since it's the only ability that is not one use but needs to be constantly channeled.

I'm not blaming Sasuke btw, he had no choice, he decided to go after opponents clearly much stronger than him and he had just lost most of his powers because he lost the Curse Mark, so he had to spam Mangekyou just to keep up.

I just find it more funny how you needed a surgical operation to replace your eyes before, then in the War Arc everyone can just plop eyes left and right like lightbulbs. Kishi should have said "only Madara can transplant eyes instantly because... huh the healing powers of Senju cells or whatever" but he did not even bother to explain it.

Yes, like an intelligent human being.

Yes because Sasuke started fights he couldn't win.

I am, because he STARTED those fights instead of training and preparing like a certain orange wearing sperg did, he unlocked his Godmode and then just retarded his way through the rest of the series. Say what you want about Naruto "Being handed" things but at least when he was given a new upgrade he worked at learning how to use it effectively (Except the six sage bullshit against Madara/Moon Bitch)

Sauske would have died a fucking nobody who accomplished nothing if Madara didn't hand him Itachi's eyes..and then proved he learned nothing because THE MOMENT he could take his bandages off he ran right into a middle of a war and probably would have gotten his ass beat by Sage Kabuto if Itachi weren't there to Hax the fight.

WHY NOT TELL HIM THE PLAN?!

Inojin: "I do not want to kill that man!"
Koji: "That man is going to tell the daimyo to fire all ninjas and the unemployed ninjas will form a coup that will destroy the world!"
Inojin:"Fuck! Fine but you better start telling me ahead of time if you want me to help you with stuff like that!"

HOW HARD IS THAT?! One idiot plot after another!

Why is that weakness manifesting now? According to Koji, at the 20th clone, Mamushi is very vulnerable due to stupidity. Why did it take until the 200th clone to start behaving stupidly. And he is acting like a complete idiot too. The decrease of intellect should have been obvious a while ago. Also, if he is this prone to distraction and self-sabotage, why didn't Mamushi limit himself in how many clones he would make at a time? Didn't he know of his weakness? He is being nerfed! Once again, Ikemoto cannot plan for the powers he gives.

Inojin can't keep up anymore. Kobu's body is too old and sluggish for him. Koji decided to save him and forcibly undoes the mind transfer. Kobu agrees for the time being but asserts he isn't done and the Land of Fire will take any action necessary against them. Sai takes him away to get medical attention.
Doubt it will happen but here is how I would write Shikamaru's excuse:

Shikamaru: "We can continue the interrogation now."
Kobu: "Why was I at the roof? Was this your doing?"
S: "Yes, it was. We were trying to evacuate you by force due to the fact that the enemy was arriving at our location. We did not think he would attack you because you are not a target of his but he was starting to attack everyone including his own clones. We did not think he would target a non-ninja that does not even know the location of his target."
K: "Oh really?! You wanted to keep me safe? Am I supposed to buy that?"
S: "Look, I do not appreciate you getting in the way of my job but I do not want you dead either. I understand that you have a job to do and that you need my co-operation but I cannot let my village die. Interrogations can happen during a time when were are not under attack by monsters."
K: "Fair enough. I take that I can have your undivided attention now?"
S: "Yes, you may proceed with your questions."

I do not think it is a perfect scene but it would be far better in line with what a 200 IQ individual should be capable of.

Boruto, not being stupid, isn't really amused with all this. He immediately suspects Koji and asks his frog if this was just a coincidence or if he knew he would save Kobu. Koji is honest with him for once and states that he's firmly in the belief that Kobu needs to die. Koji is an ass. He keeps half the reasons to himself. I understand that he wants to ensure the future but there are some things he does not need to hide.

I mean, what other choice do they have? A war of attrition would be a losing one here.

He shouldn't be conducting his interrogation right now anyway. Not unless he believes that the people he is about to lay off will defend him from the monster that might eat him. They have an excuse to let him die. Why play hardass now?

Well to be honest Itachi never used his MS abilities unless it was REALLY needed. And when he used them, he usually only used one or two abilities and then let his eyes rest for months before using another one.

Kishi should have said "only Madara can transplant eyes instantly because... huh the healing powers of Senju cells or whatever" but he did not even bother to explain it.
Kishi might have meant to imply that the reason he could do that was the Hashirama cells. Show, don't tell. I can get behind that.

(Except the six sage bullshit against Madara/Moon Bitch)
Even that was not hard to wield. I can accept that he could master that to easily. It is not like he got abilities that he had no frame of reference for. Just some Rasengan, Rasenshuriken, increased stats and the like. Stuff he already could understand. I can buy that he could wield those things.

Well this was a brief chapter. Ikemoto sucks. I'm tired of people defending his shitty artwork.

Boruto TBV 32

Daemon finally does something. We get Daemon on the cover this time, and overall it's a pretty decent cover. The problem for me has always been Daemon's design....I think it's terrible. His color scheme is terrible. His face is terrible. He just looks...very goofy. He looks like a Korean pop singer and I'm almost positive that's what Ikemoto was going for. I hate his taste in fashion and basically everything. We'll get more into my hate for Daemon later though.

Boruto confronts a bunch of Mamushi clones and tells them to follow him. He's going to take them to Eida. All the Mamushi clones swarm and follow Boruto. Sumire and Amado theorize how that either they can share information with each other or they have a collective conscience. Boruto along the way, informs them about Daemon guarding Eida. I....have no idea why he does this. They already trust him enough to follow him. He's not fishing for information. He just....tells them this for some ungodly reason. However, something interesting does happen, Mamushi goes into Bug's memory and remembers Daemon and his abilities. Which makes the decision to tell him about Daemon, even more incredibly stupid.

Shikamaru's plan is to have everyone converge on Eida and have everyone go all out and wipe out Mamushi with Ohirume all at once. They all fly at her like a swarm. They start fighting each other though for the chance to eat Eida. Since they aren't trying to kill Eida, Daemon's having a hard time. Mamushi is also flying faster than Eida so they'll be outrun eventually. He tells Eida to take the fight to the ground. Daemon very quickly and very effortlessly, wipes them out. I can't tell you what he actually does, but he does it. Everyone tosses out what they can do to wipe them all down while Himawari and Kawaki stand back in case Ohirume doesn't get them all.

They get down to about 50 clones and Sarada goes to launch Ohirume....but it fizzles out and she collapses. Apparently Ohirume consumes an absolute massive amount of chakra and it's too draining for her to use more than once. Since Shikamaru was occupied during that time, he didn't realize she already used it before. It isn't just Sarada either, Kawaki and everyone else starts dropping too. The war of attrition has gotten to them and their strength is giving out. Mamushi, realizing how far he's being pushed decides to focus on nothing but replicating. We end the chapter with Inojin stating there's now over 1000 Mamushi clones.

Now here's the thing, so far I've been enjoying this arc. Sure, it's flawed and it's going through leaps and bounds to bend and manipulate the narrative for situations to work. It's been forcing things that don't need to be forced, and it's definitely not perfect. All that being said, it's the closest Boruto has ever fault to being Naruto. I can tell Ikemoto is trying. I appreciate stakes being raised and in a natural way. So far this arc has done that. There is genuine tension here and for that I will give it praise. Mamushi feels like a much bigger threat than the other Divine Trees.

However, that being said- somebody needs to have a serious talk with Ikemoto. His artwork has been consistently a problem in this series. His fight choreography has been cluttered, confusing, and made it very unclear for readers to decipher what's going on. For a comic book, that's a cardinal sin. I shouldn't have to question things like what's going on in a panel. The action should be self-explanatory. For a character like Daemon to exist and be successful, you have to draw his ability in such way that it has impact. That is not what Ikemoto does. He just draws Daemon in motion, and every head around him explodes. He'll throw a punch, and everyone's head around him explodes, even if they're not in the pathway of this theoretical air punch. At one point he kicks the air and like 20 clones just randomly die. You can't tell what he's doing or why it's happening, it just does. A character like this needs some kind of artistic indicator that something is happening. Daemon doesn't have that. He'll just casually move in a direction and heads explode without any rhyme or reason. It doesn't make Daemon cool or anything. It just makes him frustrating to read. His personality doesn't make him any better either. Especially since he probably could've taken on Mamushi alone and won just fine. Ikemoto is a shitty artist and can't make characters like Daemon work. He's just too incompetent to make conceptual powers work.

Eida and Daemon look like VTubers. You can tell by the hair.

I get why. He wants them to fight Daemon and buy Eida time. If they go straight for Eida, they might get lucky.

Daemon's power is very weird. Basically, as long as you feel the need to kill him or whoever he is touching, he can reflect back the attack back. The greater the killing intent, the greater the damage. That is why it was necessary to have the clones to want to kill him.

They should have destroyed more clones. And had Himawari share her chakra like Naruto had in the war. Serious brain drain.

I appreciate the effort. I just thought that the heir to the throne would understand what it stands for. This story just doesn't feel like Naruto. This world no longer feels like it ever was Naruto.

These powers have to be showcased better. I understand them but they are hard to put into a fight choreography.

New Boruto is out and I'm actually eager to talk about it for once.

The cover art for this week is Sarada, and it's a unique new blue tinted color scheme. It's another fashion magazine cover and I've already talked about these to death. Let's get into the meat of the chapter.

We open with Sarada being down for the count. Everyone's slowly running out of steam and hitting their limits. Himawari heals Sarada's eyes, and is able to stop the bleeding. The healing is only surface level though as she can't fix Sarada's vision. Guess she can't grow eyeballs in the palm of her hand. (Yet) Daemon has had enough though and calls for the Mamushi clones to come at him all at once.

Inojin asks Koji what more they can do, and what other possibilities the future showed him. Koji clarifies that his future sight only likes to work when it feels like it. It hasn't worked in over 4 days. The updates he receives are completely random and he hasn't had any. The real boost they received was Inojin's new jutsu. There's no futures like where they are now to tell them what to do. Amado is listening in on the conversation as well. Mamushi attacked days earlier than he was supposed to. It was never meant to happen during Kobu's visit. Inojin realizes the limits of his future sight.

Daemon isn't fairing any better back at the fight. Corpses are piling up but Mamushi is still splitting up faster. There's a literal mountain of corpses making it harder to protect Eida. Daemon is running out of steam, as well as Boruto and everyone else. Boruto asks for Shikamaru to give an honest assessment of what to do, but he doesn't have one.

Koji explains that normally, Inojin would develop his new jutsu AFTER Konoha suffered heavy losses to Mamushi. He tells Inojin that thanks to his new jutsu, the future is also vastly different. Eida and Himawari are still alive. Mamushi feels weaker, and these are thanks to Inojin's efforts. He demands to know what more they can do but it finally hits him. He remembers Amado's Intel questioning if they have shared vision or a sort of hive mind. Koji tells him that his Future Sight's best advantage is intel and while different, there are similar futures where Inojin has to make the choice he already figured out. He tells him to shatter and destroy those bad futures. Inojin said he's ready and Koji reverse summons him.

On the battlefield, Inojin appears to Shikadai and has his him restrain a Mamushi clone. He Mind Transfers into the Mamushi and thanks to them being so split apart, they can't resist all being controlled at once. He combines his new jutsu with the mind transfer and takes control of the hive mind to control every Mamushi clone. He has Daemon destroy both his eyes, wiping out every Mamushi clone at once. Before dying, Inojin switches back and Himawari heals the injury, although, likely not being able to save his eyesight. Boruto takes Bug's Thorn Bulb and we end our chapter and arc with Code lurking in Bug's tree.

This arc was a solid bar above the rest of TBV so far in my opinion. There's a lot of problems and holes with it, sure. It's absolutely nonsensical for our climax that you'd have so many Mamushi clones and an entire village with an ARMY of ninja that do absolutely nothing to help. It's nonsensical that major Naruto characters play virtually no role. Especially Sai, who was setup to have a role that's seemingly abandoned by the end. I can't help but remember the Pain arc when it was all hands on deck and felt much more chaotic. There were a lot of hoops Ikemoto had to jump through and basically force and pound this situation into existence despite it making very little sense. There's many things that are contrived for no reason other than plot and they stand out quite a bit. All that being said, it wasn't that bad. There was a lot of good tension with Kobu. Koji was up to his reckless bullshit, but being challenged by Inojin helped keep it a little bit more tolerable. If nothing else, the arc really managed to actually keep up suspense and tension. There were multiple factors at play that kept the story paced well and there were never really any dull moments. It was nice to them actually act at least a little bit like ninja with adapting plans, squads, and strategy. I hope we'll get some follow through on this and these consequences become lasting.

Inojin is the best character in Boruto TBV, bar none. I didn't think I'd say that about someone who seemed like such a throwaway but I do really like him by the end of this. He's the only one who challenged Koji and demanded to know what was really going on. He made the sacrifice he made without hesitation. He was a great foil to Kashin Koji and Boruto, acting as a good balancing persona for the two of them. I hope to see more of him because I really do think Koji and Boruto work better as a trio than a duo. If this is the last of him though, I hope Ikemoto learned how to use the story elements he set up a bit more wisely and figured out things that worked and things that didn't.

I liked this interaction. Made Koji feel human.

Yes, good to know that Shikamaru is still the dumbest person in the manga. Considering the competition, this is impressive.

Inojin has been the MVP of this arc. He makes even Koji tolerable.

I doubt he will be blind. Medical jutsu has advanced. He might be out of the picture for a while but he will be back. This has been the smartest fight in the manga so far. As for Code, he has been too pathetic to seem impressive. Hopefully he does something interesting but he might just be the Zetsu of Boruto.

I get that the fodder wouldn't be much trouble other than die. Mamushi has infinite stamina.

Sai will be the one to piece things together. His time is next chapter or the one after that.

It truly was the best arc so far. Why couldn't we get more of this?

I like Inojin in this. Seems like the key to make Boruto and Koji tolerable is to make them interact with better people. Hopefully Ikemoto learned how to make a good story and we can expect this level of quality or better from now on.

It really does feel like Ikemoto is just...not a good mangaka. Or like he never actually wanted to be one and got shoved into this role. It feels like he was very ill suited for becoming the head mangaka of Boruto. He's often found fighting against the narrative and background of the Narutoverse rather than compiling a story within it. It really does feel like he was told whatever manga he wanted to make wasn't happening and got stuck with this.

I wouldn't go as far as that. Like if he wanted to be a mangaka but not on this series but he couldn't turn down an opportunity like this. I would say that he is someone who didn't actually learn what makes for a good story either. He feels like someone who had no real guidance in making manga all this years. Right now, he is copying Kishimoto as his inferior copy. And Kishi isn't all that hot either without a great editor. Apart from that, I think you are right: it truly feels like he is fighting against the worldbuilding of the Narutoverse (though you could say the same about Kishi on some parts). I think that he was told that if he did a good job on Boruto, he could get his own at least 15 volume original manga (that is to say "something that will not be axed for at least a long time") or something equally tempting. I would buy that. Especially in WSJ where the axe falls after 3 volumes without hesitation for underperforming stories.
