The official translation came out. The only thing that changed that's noteworthy is that Himawari does actually say she can't even imagine what Kurama is talking about. So, to her credit she does at least call out what her problem exactly is and Kurama just...chooses not to bother explaining.
I read the chapter and think I get it: He is telling her that due to her unique body she should fight differently than a ninja and more like a Tailed Beast that is made of chakra and launches chakra around. Get it? He is telling her to fight more like a DBZ character than a Naruto character. You cannot make that shit up.

You cannot make that shit up.
That's friggin hilarious. God this manga sucks.

Someone mentioned how it's weird there's no Hyuuga clan around. It hit me, Himawari and Kawaki are orphans. Yet they live alone. For three years. For three years, they live alone unguarded despite everyone in the village believing Boruto murdered both Naruto AND Hinata for no discernible reason. Nobody protects them at all despite Himawari now being the sole royal heiress to the Hyuuga Clan and Byakugan. The only protection she's given is Kawaki.....The guy who failed to save their parents. The guy everyone mocks for being weak and have to hold back when training against. They have no reason to think Boruto won't come back and finish the job. Itachi came back to finish the job from the perspective of everyone in the village and that wasn't that long ago. Pain came back to finish the job and blew up the village when he hunted Naruto. So....Yeah they just let them live alone as orphans. They let the 13 year old raise his kid sister....alone.....After their mom and dad were murdered. Plus, Shikamaru, smartest guy in the world, saw no issue with this......

THIS MANGA IS FUCKING RETARDED.

Hiruzen salutes from the afterlife as his best students show the results of taking the lessons of "The Hiruzen School of Orphancare" to heart. If it made little sense to leave Naruto to his fate considering who he was, it makes even less sense to do it with Himawari and Kawaki since the Hyuga are around and are VERY much involved in raising Naruto's kids even before Omnipotence but Ikemoto is a man of hindsight not foresight. "Oh yeah, the Hyuga exist................ Whelp, I drew Himawari living alone now.... I will write around it later...." I swear that must be his thought process every other chapter.

I have this unresearched feeling that Kishi and Ike must think that kids living alone without parental supervision is some cool fantasy kids have. I mean, we did but that was until we had to realize what not having parents at that age meant. They seem to grant that state of affairs very liberally to kids.

I saw that Naruto was like the most watched show on Netflix still. Meanwhile I remember being a wee lad and it being mocked very hard online for not being very good (famous 4chan copypastas all but forgotten now). Yet it seems like we have to live with it.

When were you a wee lad? Naruto was really good at one point.

One of the key things wrong about Kishimoto's writing is this.

**The Holocaust happened.**

Naruto: "I think this Hitler guy is really cool. He worked hard to be where he is. I know he did some bad stuff, but I totally believe in him! BELIEVE IT!" (Pushes fist forward with that retarded smile on his autistic face)

One of the major things I despise about Naruto is this: "If I am useful and really nice to a bunch of psychos who caused the problems, people will acknowledge and like me".

i've had several bones to pick with naruto for some time; starting with my nuclear hot take, i don't think naruto should have become hokage. there's a thing in japanese media where if people change their dreams or compromise or do something else they ought as well kill themselves, but he's been alone most of his life. majority of show was him getting friends, family etc. which leads to an endgame of him getting a wife and kids then spending majority of his time objectively ditching them, (like the fuckin birthday party shit where he leaves essentially a shit body double instead) being a glorified overworked more intensive office worker? fuck off. bonus points to sasuke who's basically the secondary protagonist realizing how fucked up he did, multiple times, and fucking up in new and interesting ways every time trying to fix it. like basically killing sakura without plot armor, then realizing her feelings and returning them, getting her pregnant, then leaving the village, regularly, even by the time of boruto. so he's a glorified baby daddy nigger vigilante that stops by port for a good fuckin every now and then. fuck off.

how hard was it to have made naruto realize how much hokage was just a job, requiring so much devotion you should be single, that would take too much from his family, take something from jiraiya and iruka and just become an incredibly powerful teacher/ normal person? or for sasuke to just have a generic but fitting shoujo grade ending of like ending with telling sakura "i can't repent for hurting you like i did; but if you'll have me i'll spend the rest of my days attempting to wipe it away with joy" or some shit. there's something about many japanese stories blatantly forcing and requiring an end to have "happily ever after... basically". even fucking high school dxd did that, where the mc winds up being, fucking again, a super overworked leader that sees his wives on wednesdays and can't even react fast if they're in danger or some shit. if naruto HAS to be a hokage, then he should have been a very "family first" one. ie "fuck paperwork, i AM going to my daughter's birthday, i AM spending time with hinata" etc. the entire fucking character was about doing retard shit for friends and family. entire character. with how they ended it he should have just originally capped the fuck out of sasuke asap, if not after fuck up 5 after fuck up 6.a, because that was the logical thing to do.

there was also too much shit that damaged emotional impacts of the whole show retroactively or were done poorly imo, like the smart zombies. i guess he won every popularity poll but madara essentially becoming the final ACTUAL villain of the show was stupid, it's like if you made a show about ww2 and then had a resurrected king solomon pop up that overpowered hitler and had a way to SUPERKILL jews and was stronger than the entire cast but lost because he had to lose. like a fanfic oc. zombies in general were way overused; itachi being able to talk to sasuke and have emotional closure was good, even though it just prevented sasuke fuck up 6.b but led to 7, naruto talking to pain and the "jiraiya's students" dialogue was very powerful (even though naruto responded fucking DUMB character wise to pain calling himself a failure etc). really should have been a smaller arc though and not just had like the last fucking 1/3rd of the show just having a marvel vs capcom tier roster of who's whos walking around. bonus points for the minato shit, naruto already had emotional scenes when his chakra was on his seal much earlier, repeating the entire thing almost verbatim again was a waste and repetitive. there were also many missed opportunities like EVERYONE coming back but jiraiya. fucking kabuto could bring back ashes but not swim? jiraiya seeing pain and naruto ending better than anyone would think possible could have been an emotional top of the show, and not just the shitty little time travel skit.

it should also have just completely ended at The Last's epilogue, maybe with some spin off novels or mangas about daily life beyond, like romantic comedy with him and hinata raising the kids etc. obito's twist and end was pretty good, but kaguya and beyond were fucking stupid, the villains in boruto even worse. naruto already had power creep problems and then boruto is just dbz basically. naruto should have literally whooped the ass of everything around him he chose, forever, until death and possibly beyond if he gave chakra to boruto in case of emergency or some shit. the ""modernized"" design shit is fucking awful, majority of characters act off, all the main characters from naruto are sidelined in favor of new, shitty characters. why the fuck would i want to read a naruto sequel where naruto is a literal sidelined deadbeat dad? sasuke is batman with less personal life? then eventually some of the most powerful characters in the series are killed by dangerhair fanfic ocs. i get it has to be a battle manga but him hiring someone trustworthy to just do world building and slice of life shit in a post war world a while would have been infinitely better

First things first, by virtue of being the strongest, Naruto was the only true candidate for Hokage so he would be made one sooner or later. Also, the business of the job is a bit of retcon. He is busier at peace than any Hokage was at war.

The problem was the execution, not the idea of a sequel. On every turn, mistakes were made. Ikemoto did not think of the implications and made decision such as Omnipotence.

If the Hokage needs to be strong, please explain to me why in the fuck they made a guy that only knows one gimmick jutsu the Hokage in Boruto?
Shikamaru is complete fodder, he only knows Shadow Possession and if you can bypass it you win automatically. He's just a gimmick character.

And since they nerfed his intelligence in Boruto he doesn't even do cool shit anymore with his gimmick.

It is unrealistic to assume that Tsunade and Kakashi would not step up to return to the position after Naruto got sealed if only to honor him. Ikemoto committed character assassination.

You know, I never thought about it that way but Boruto is introduced to us crying about how his dad is never around. Even though Naruto does have Shadow Clones that are HIM and can be everywhere at once. Plus, he gets back all the memories and experiences when he does them. He literally is everywhere at once and we're supposed to feel bad for Boruto.

Meanwhile, Sarada has a literal deadbeat dad who's around so little that when he sees her for the first time in the manga, he tries to KILL her because he doesn't know what she looks like. But no, we're supposed to feel bad for Boruto because clones "aren't the real thing". Fuck you, Kishimoto.

At least Sasuke has an excuse to stay out of the village as he takes care of the Diabolus ex Machina. Naruto had to have the position of Hokage retcon to a busier one in order to create problems for Boruto.

Narratively speaking, these two are supposed to be equal in strength because that's how Kishi intended it, but when the chips are down, who is actually the stronger of the two? Even without Baryon Mode shenanigans, I can't buy the argument of Sasuke being equal in strength to Naruto. The final fight between the two ended in a tie of sorts, but Sasuke had absorbed the power of all 9 tailed beasts (which was a temporary boost) along with the Rinnegan and he was still struggling against a half Kurama Naruto. Maybe as he got older and more used to the Rinnegan, he got stronger? Idk. Just my two cents.

Boruto Chapter 26

Late on this but the new chapter of Boruto is out. The cover is Momoshiki this time. He's not in the issue, which is strange and the first time that's happened in awhile, but it's not a big deal. The cover is fine, it's actually quite nice. The arm poses are a little wonky but it reminds me of Deidara.

The chapter opens with Inojin delivering some honey for Himawari. Apparently he has a thing for her. I'm not quite sure how big of an age gap there is between the two but they spend a lot of time together from what we've seen. It comes a little bit out of left field, but I've seen this series bumble romance harder than this, at least we KNOW these two are friends. Inojin gets ambushed by one of Kashin Koji's toads. He asks if he loves Himawari and when he can't answer, he reverse summons him to room with him and Boruto. A lot of people seemed to like these panels and I can see why. It's the first full shot of both Kashin Koji and Boruto we've seen in some time. The only thing criticism I have is that Boruto's pants leg is drawn at a weird angle and at first glance I thought his leg WAS the summoning cloud.

We cut to the trees where Jura is done reading a novel and crying over it. He says it caught him off guard. He also says it reminds him of the sadness he felt from the look Matsuri had on her face. Bug says he's realized that the reason his instinct chose Eida is because he wants to be superior to her. He wants her superior genetic information to be his and to thrive as a species.

Shikamaru is heading to the meeting with the Elders when he's contacted by Koji and Boruto who convinced Inojin to help albeit reluctantly. Koji wants to help him through this meeting since he may lose his position as Hokage if it goes poorly. The Fire Lord's personal chamberlain is here to assess the meeting. He's not happy with Shikamaru and he's questioning his ability as Hokage. In fact, they're questioning the entire system of villages in general. I guess we're to assume that in Naruto's times of peace that he ushered in, wars are a thing of the past but heck, it wasn't THAT long ago there were major conflicts. It's only been, what, 15 years since the last major conflict between villages if we assume nothing happened? Well, with the time skip it's actually 18. The Feudal Lord's were never really very bright and always were portrayed as brash and dimwitted. The idea that they'd consider eradicating villages since war for the past 20 years has been a thing of the past isn't exactly that farfetched. Heck it would even bring us to that "No more ninja" thing from the flash forward at the start of the series. Is the idea stupid? Of course it is. Would I want to see it happen? Fuck yeah, that's a genuinely interesting idea. Have the Feudal Lord's abandon the funding for the villages and put everyone in crisis and danger directly as a result of Boruto's actions and failure to stop Code earlier in the series. Would never happen but it's fun to think about. It would add some much needed tension to know that Boruto was the reason the villages are being dissolved.

Conjecture aside, Shikamaru tried to divert the conversation and says he based all of his actions on the mission in the Sand on certain intelligence he refuses to discuss. The Elders are immediately onto him though and suspect the intel came from Boruto. They say there's rumors going around that Boruto is trying to destroy the village with fake intel from within and that he's actually in league with the Divine Trees as revenge. I don't know where this rumor would come from, because it sounds ridiculous, or if they're just pressing and testing Shikamaru. The fact I have to ask that question at all though means good things from a writing perspective. Konohamaru speaks up in Boruto's defense though, and before Shikamaru can rebuke him, Koji tells him to let it go and let Konohamaru draw attention off of him. He immediately gets chastised by the Elders for defending Boruto, reminding him that he slayed the Hokage. The Chamberlain chimes in and says that even though Shikamaru's mission was a success, it's a hollow victory if it means there's a mole colluding with criminals in the village. He orders Sai to apprehend Konohamaru for questioning as well as everyone who has had contact with Boruto. He knows Boruto had aid in escaping and he's now on a head hunt for who.

Inojin chastises Koji and Boruto's methods, asking if breaking all these rules like this is how they always operate. Koji reminds him that he's now colluding with them as well. Boruto says that their enemies will stop at nothing and they have to bend the rules in order to do what they need to do. Inojin stands down, having faced Jura and nearly died, saying he needs more power if he's going to protect Himawari. Koji asks Boruto if he made a deal yet with Momoshiki. He says to relax and he'll hold up his end. Koji says he doesn't like Boruto's attitude and this isn't an answer. Boruto retorts in kind by stating that Koji always leaves out the inconvenient parts of his schemes and asks how many were supposed to die in the mission to the Sand Village. Inojin asks them to stop arguing. Koji says he guided things so that Sarada would awaken her Mangekyou and that more wouldn't die in the future down the line.

This is the first time we've gotten a glimpse at Koji and Boruto's relationship. It's clearly tenuous at best and the two aren't friends. They aren't even confidants. Their relationship is on a knife's edge and neither fully trusts the other. Tensions between them are starting to get frustrated and frankly, it's great to finally get a glimpse of that. How much longer before Boruto considers this relationship no longer worth it? Koji clearly has his priorities in different places and doesn't think things through and will act without any regard to the lives of others. Koji asks for an update from Shikamaru. He says he's about to be brought in for questioning. Koji says in one week Bug/Mamushi will attack and he will reach out to discuss how they will counter it.

Over at Eida's, she has Sarada and Sumire over and asks them about when Sarada will confess to Boruto. She says she hasn't said anything about confessing. Sarada doesn't want to burden him further with her feelings. Sumire says she's not sure but she might just blurt it out at some point, much to Eida's delight. However, Eida breaks the romance talk by pointing out they're not captivated by her. Sarada tries to activate her Mangekyou as she sees Daemon approaching. Daemon pounces on them both before they can do anything, threatening them. Not really a strong finish for the chapter.

Honestly, there was a lot of conversations and ideas thrown that were interesting. There were genuinely good moments and conjecture to think and talk about. I think this was clearly one of the better chapters and while it isn't much in terms of fixing the many problems, it was a positive step. We got a lot of things I was previously asking for in this chapter. Art was pretty decent too. Overall, I liked it.

I am fine with this. At least we have a guy showing interest this time as opposed to the girl pining longingly for an guy that does not notice or care. As for the ages, Inojin and Himawari have a 2-year age difference. That is nothing.

I get what they are going for but that sounds creepy.

Gotta love it how his idea is to take a bunch of war vets, fighting age men and women, young kids that just learned to control nature and every industry worker that relies on all the above and have them lose their jobs. That man has never been told "no" in his life. When the army is out of a job, they will revolt and overthrow the government. Hopefully you have an army to stop your army, dumbass. I hope we are supposed to hate this guy.

I am fine with this. We needed an excuse to have people join Boruto, having to choose between him and prison is fine.

I get what Koji is about but still, he should have been more honest with Boruto. If he was sensitive to his feelings of not wanting people to die, he might have prepared him better. As things are now, they have a foreign invasion and a civil war between them.

Over at Eida's, she has Sarada and Sumire over and asks them about when Sarada will confess to Boruto. She says she hasn't said anything about confessing. I just dislike Ada. And Daemon is a prick with inconsistent abilities. Like brother, like sister, I guess. Also, is this wise? Bug has his eyes on her and she antagonizes some of her strong friends?

Imo, this chapter showed that Ikemoto is listening at least to an extend. Hopefully he will not stop. Overall, a course correction.

I'm not a fan of Boruto, but in retrospect, was him using ninja tools in chuunin exams really that big of a deal? At least it definitely did require more skill to use than Naruto's prosthetic arm. On top of that, humiliating him in front of the whole town felt a bit uncalled for. He could have just pulled him aside yo investigate him instead.

In universe, he might as well have been Hitler 2.0 to Naruto for using deceitful tactics as a fucking ninja. Which is why they aren't really ninjas, they are actually wizards who dress up as Ninja's.

Out of universe, it was fucking retarded to get mad about this and Boruto was absolutely in the right.

The problem is that it is something that you can buy as opposed to something you work for. Boruto is there to impress people with his skills, not his tools. It is like showing up at a Spelling Bee with a phone to Google the words to see how they are spelled. You are not impressing anyone with it by showing up with something that one can buy at a store and once used it can grant you easy victory. That is not what this exam is about.

Also, if you make ninjas too reliant on tools, they will forget how to function without them. If the tool malfunctions during combat, you might as well as surrender. There is a reason why even in modern times militaries train soldiers in the basics. You might be needed to kill someone with a knife or know how to navigate without guidance. Forgoing basic skills just because you got new weapons is stupid and is not allowed to happen in real life. The tool was useful in a pinch against someone who caused you to run out of chakra but that is it. It would have negative effects on everything else.
