Naruto, while he was a genius in hindsight, has many limitations and barely knew any jutsu.
Yeah storywise, Naruto's biggest blind spot as a character is that he's basically a two-trick pony. Rasengan, Shadow Clones. Once you've seen these two, you've seen it all. The rasenshuriken is essentially a super Rasengan so while cool at first, isn't a huge deal once you get over the initial novelty. Everything else he gains throughout the show is essentially just a power up, not brand new moves. Sage Mode, KCM.... these just make him super charged and build upon pre existing moves instead of introducing anything truly new. I guess you could argue it allows him to be more resourceful and versatile, but all in all, it's like a band that has like one or two hit songs and plays them on repeat at all of their concerts and tries to keep them fresh with mounting displays of extravaganza.

I too wished he had learned other tricks too. So much time spend with Jiraiya and not a single new jutsu? He did not even learn how to make a Rasengan without a clone. He did not even know his chakra nature.

God, I can't even imagine what characters like Zoro, Fujitora, Doflamingo, and Garp among others would look like in Naruto's generic as Hell artstyle. Why the fuck does short hair look SO FUCKING BAD in Naruto's artstyle anyway?

It only looks bad because Boruto's artstyle is shit.

I feel like the Reincarnation thing would’ve been better if they had failed reincarnates, ala Morrowwind. Honestly it would’ve been better if Madara just fucking broke the system and Sasuke isn’t a reincarnation of the Sages son, but Madaras brother.

The cycle of Death and rebirth is fucked. If you are gonna include it go hog wild.

Madara should have been the final villain, not Sasuke, not Kaguya, not Obito, MADARA. And if they wanted to continue, they should introduce Toneri as the first Otsutsuki in a "Naruto Gaiden" series taking place a few years later, with a few seasons to wrap up what's left of Naruto and fully flesh out his relationship with Hinata.

I feel like a good final villain would’ve been the Death god getting pissy that everyone is cheating death. I feel like that would’ve been more left field, but at the same time kind of makes sense.

The last arc was literally the dead being puppeted to help Madara, who had been cheating death for a century, finally get one over on Hashirama.

I actually do like Hashirama. I find it funny that his plan is effectively Pain’s, but with more autonomy given to everyone.

That makes no sense to me. Never understood why fictional death gods hate the undead. Even they will return to being normal dead sooner or later. The vampire will be staked or burned, the zombie will decay, the skeleton will be crushed and the lich will have its phylactery destroyed. Might as well wait. To me a death god should have infinite patience due to truly understanding that no one can outrun DEATH.

Yeah madara would've worked better, he's basically a ghost from the past inflicting pain on the living in an attempt to take revenge against people who are all long dead.

In my opinion, Madara was made too competent. No weaknesses, got stronger all the time and he had to nerf himself by not using the Rinnegan abilities apart from summoning meteors. Victory would have felt hollow. Kaguya would not have been a bad choice had she been hinted and had actual fighting skills (and no BZ).

I feel like a less generic design, would have gone over better, like this:

I personally liked her design. The only thing I liked about her was how she looked.

Imo, I think Kishi settled too early on making her a surprise villain. He should have made a flashback arc earlier to explain the backstory of Otsutsuki to talk about her and her descendants. Like how Bleach had TBTP, EBTR and Friend. Around the time the Ten Tails was to summoned would have been a good choice.

Remember that filler arc that played right as Naruto was finally going to leave with Jiraiya? That one had a villain named "Seimei" who in retrospect, looks like a literal dead ringer for an Otsutsuki Clansmen, maybe you could canonize something like that and have the guy and his troupe be deranged "Kaguya Cultists", who only have a broken understanding of her and the Ten Tails as a whole. Then, when the War Arc comes around, you could have a flashback to this arc, along with the Kimimaro fight, and have it all begin to click more.

Another reason I hated the reason for the timeskip. Naruto knew he was being tracked and Jiraiya knew a good hiding spot and never took it. He could have learned Sage arts and built on it slowly after returning to Konoha.

It’s more the perversion of the dead and ripping others from whatever comes next. Madara can be a seething zombie, but ripping others from the Afterlife or whatever comes next is the big no-no.

I feel like when you resurrect hundreds of people and force them to fight against their will you deserve a metaphysical spanking. I always liked Myth 2: Soulblighter for outright saying “Yeah, Soulblighter is getting megaraped for trying to usurp the cycle.”

Madara, from what can be inferred, instigated a lot of wars. If you exclude Zetsu then it’s literally a “It was me Barry!” situation. Like every fucking villain springs from him. He might’ve actually killed Orochimaru’s parents. He seems petty enough.
