Boruto Chapter 11 has dropped let's go.
Your enjoyment of this chapter really depends on how much you can overlook the absolutely DISGUSTING amount of power creep and non-sensical storytelling.
We start with Jura vs. Himawari. She helps Inojin off the spike with her hair and by the time she puts him on the ground, he's immediately healed. (Told ya he wasn't going to die.) Turns out she can instantaneously heal herself and other people now. Thus killing all the tension and suspense in any scene she will be in moving forward. I'm sure this absolutely broken ability won't bite Ike/Kishi in the ass as giant plot holes later on. Himawari does the classic "This is my fight, go" to Shikadai and his team and says it just feels like what her father and brother would do.
The fighting begins, and I'm going say it off the bat, Kishimoto drew this. The art is too clean and on model, and I daresay the fight choreography is even kind of cool. There's a panel where Jura jumps into the sky and his cloak almost look like wings and when he dives at Himawari he looks like a hawk or a falcon. Himawari shoots...a tailed beast bomb at him. Great. Wonderful, she did nothing to earn it, does it effortlessly and it's now just ki blasts. Jura slaps her around a bit more, and decides to "get serious". Himawari ain't looking so good.
We cut to Sarada and Sasuke. Here's where the chapter falls apart. Sasuke is downed and just submerges himself in the claw marks to instantly heal himself. Wonderful they can both do it. Sarada asks why he can use Chidori, clearly not recognizing him. He asks about her Sharingan and says he doesn't have those and that's why Chidori is so hard to control. You sure had no problem up until now though. This sucks. We were doing kind of good up until now of at least keeping up a decent story pace and not wasting time on useless beats. This whole "Sarada doesn't know it's her own father thing" just stretches out this arc even though we can all see where this is going. FFS, just let her figure it out so we can get some actual stakes and tension going. All this does is delay the inevitable and for what? There's not much of a reason. Sasuke claims he doesn't know who he is and he's trying to figure it out. He doesn't know who Sasuke Uchiha is either. I'm not sure if he means this in a literal sense or a metaphorical one. He seemed just fine earlier. If I recall, he had some idea of who Sasuke was. Maybe I'm wrong.
Sumire says his target is Sarada and Sasuke Chidori's her before anyone can act. Konohamaru goes to stop him from attacking when Sasuke uses Chidori on him. Konohamaru blocks with his new move Rasen Barricade, a shield made from the spiraling of Rasengan. Why the fuck couldn't this be Uzuhiko? This was much better than "HE ATTACKS WITH THE ROTATION OF THE PLANET TO MAKE YOU UNBALANCED AND STUMBLE AROUND A BIT!!!" Fuck this manga is so lame. Anyway, Konohamaru gets slapped, Sumire gets slapped, Sasuke pins down Sarada and says the moment he was born she popped into his mind and he wants to know why. He's going to devour her, and see why.
Elsewhere, Himawari is running out of gas. Jura confirms her astounding healing abilities. Something interesting is how this is conveyed by Jura attacking Himawari, and it simply not doing anything. She clearly is hit and her clothes will rip, but she herself will have no damage. At least they're doing something with it art wise.
Anyway, help is on the way! And guess what? It's time for our Kawaki Sucks Moment!!!! Every single chapter, Kawaki sucks or is told he sucks. This time, by Delta. While flying over to help, Delta asks him why he's going when Jura bitch slapped him five seconds ago and what can he possibly do to help? Ouch. Before he can answer, Boruto flies past them both, saves Himawari and teleports away to where Sarada is via a Toad friend and saves her as well. Sasuke confronts Boruto and the chapter ends.
Good art. More bullshit storytelling. Just stomping out any good will left. But hey, at least the art is neat for once and I can tell what's going on in the fights. That's something. Still, I'm tired of this plot just dragging, fucking go somewhere or fuck off.
